현재 대학 1학년 마치고 군 복무중입니다. 대략적인 저에 대한 정보만 간략하게 말씀드리면 문과생이고, 전공은 경영학과입니다. 최근들어 진로에 대해 많이 고민하고, 저 자신에 대해 많이 고민하고 있는데 고민은 원래 달리면서 하는 거라는 말을 많이 들어서, 일단은 전공 공부를 군대에서 공부하고 있지만 여러가지 고민들이 계속 머릿속에서 맴도네요. 추상적인 질문이지만, 오히려 이런 질문이 광의적이고 포괄적이어서 다양한 답을 들을 수 있다고 생각되기에 어렴풋이, 추상적으로 질문드려봅니다. 1) 하고 싶은 대로, 마음 가는 대로 먼저 행동하고 그에 맞춰 커리어를 준비하는게 좋을지, 아니면 거시적인 커리어목표를 먼저 준비하고 그에 맞춰 행동하는게 좋을까요? 2) 스페셜리스트(Specialist)를 목표로 하는게 좋을까요, 아니면 제너럴리스트(Generalist)를 목표로 하는게 좋을까요? 3) 추구하고자 하는 목표와 가치에 있어서 어떤 것이 더 중요한지 우선순위를 정하지 못하고 판단이 서지 않을 때, 자신만의 확고한 기준을 만들어낼 수 있는 가장 좋은 방법은 무엇일까요? 1) 내가 어떤 것에 주로 후회하는 성격이냐에 따라 다릅니다. 꽂힌 걸 하지 않으면 속이 뒤틀리는 사람이라면 하고 싶은 대로 해야할 것이고, 잘 짜여진 루트를 제대로 밟지 못한 것을 후회하는 사람이라면 목표를 먼저 설정해야 할 것이고.
근데 대부분의 사람들은 어느 쪽이건 원하는대로 못 갑니다.
2) 전공마다 다르고 본인의 재능 수준과 방향에 따라 다릅니다. 제너럴하게 잘난 특별한 스페셜리스트가 제일 잘 나가는 것이고, 여기에 얼마나 근접하냐 아니냐의 문제라...
3) 각 선택지에서 유도될 수 있는 최악의 상황을 그려놓고 뭐가 더 복구불능일지, 뭐가 더 속이 쓰릴지 생각해보면 됩니다. 사실 제일 좋은 건, 내 인생에 아주 큰 기대를 하지 않는 겁니다.
