안녕하세요, 날이 조금씩 풀리는 것 같습니다. 이 자리를 통해 회원님 여러분께 혜안과 지혜를 빌리고자 합니다. 수 년전, 진로문제로 한창 방황하던 중에 기회가 닿아 MBB에서 RA를 할 기회를 얻으면서 컨설팅에 대해 알게 됐습니다. 적성에 잘 맞았는지 잦은 야근도 버틸 만했고, 무엇보다 컨설팅회사에서의 경험이 많은 가능성을 열어준다는 메리트가 매력적이었던 것 같습니다. 그러던 중, 몇몇 현직자 선배님들이나 주변 동기들에게 소위 첫 직장으로서의 컨설팅이 주는 메리트가 과거에 비하면 감소하고 있다는 얘기를 들었습니다. 이를테면 PE에서도 IBD면 모를까 굳이 어쏘출신을 뽑진 않거나, 업계 자체의 경기도 썩 좋지 않다든지... 제게 직업으로서 컨설팅이라는 업 자체의 즐거움도 매우 크지만, 워라밸을 희생하고 얻는 '미래에의 투자'도 무시 못 할 요소라고 생각합니다. 개인적인 바람은 희망하는 산업 프로젝트에서 경력을 쌓아 추후 public sector에 진출하는 것인데, 조금씩 컨설팅업의 인기가 사그라든다고 하니, 조금 겁이 납니다ㅠ 누구는 IT 벤처를 가라 하고, 누구( 겨우 방향을 잡았다고 생각했지만 다시 원위치로 돌아온 것 같아 허탈하네요ㅎㅎ 고견 남겨주시면 감사하겠습니다. 거의 없습니다. 다만 비즈니스에 대해 직간접적 체험이 많아지기에(3대펌/MBB) 요새 창업해서 성공하는 분들은 꽤 많습니다. 글로벌 3대 펌은 여전히 괜찮으니 가보실만 하지만 그게 아닌데 컨설팅이 천직이라 생각하시면 차라리 데이터사이언스쪽을 추천합니다. 요새 기업들도 그쪽으로 주로 컨설팅을 맡기지 경영학 프레임으로 하는 올드한 컨설팅은 잘 안받습니다. 3대펌 정도면 오케이 아니면 데이터사이언스 공부. 이렇게 추천합니다.
