평소 사회 정치적인 이슈들에 대해 많은 관심을 가지고 있지만, 이를 커뮤니티에서 토론하는 것은 최대한 피해왔습니다. 토론 과정에서 소모되는 노력과 시간, 감정에 비해서 그 결론이 시원하게 난다는 보장이 없기 때문에 투자효율이 떨어진다고 생각하기 때문입니다. 불타는 키워 정신이 아직 어디엔가에 남아있긴 합니다만, 세월의 탓인지 이제는 게으름과 귀찮음이라는 큰 짐의 무게가 만만찮습니다. 다른 이유는 지금까지 불판을 달군 이슈들에 대해선 저의 생각이 신념 수준으로 확고하게 굳었기 때문에 아무리 토론한들 저의 생각이 바뀔 것 같지 않다는 판단입니다. 어차피 감정만 상하고 생각이 다른 이들을 헐뜯고 싸우지나 않으면 다행일 일을 벌이기 실은 마음이랄까요. 소진, 장의가 와서 저를 설득해도 전 새누리당 안찍을 테니까요. 헌데 이번 강남역 사태를 바라보면서는 목소리를 내보고 싶다는 생각을 했습니다. 일단 제 생각이 아직 굳어지지 않은 부분이 있기 때문입니다. 이번 사태가 이렇게 활활 타오르는 까닭을 전 잘 모르겠습니다. 질문게시판을 이용할까도 생각해 봤지만, 제 생각을 표현할 부분도 적지 않다고 봐서 티타임에 기대겠습니다. 1. 피해자는 여자라서 죽었다라는 말을 듣습니다. 범인이 그리 말했으니 사실이겠죠. 범인은 여성을 특정해서 대상을 물색했답니다. 그러니 피해자의 불행한 죽음은 그녀가 여성이기 때문이기도 합니다. 하지만 그게 다는 아닙니다. 피해자는 불행히도 그 시간 그 장소에 있었고, 하필 범인이 노리던 여성이라는 범주에 속해 있었습니다. 그녀가 범인의 마수에 걸려든 것에는 많은 요소가 작용했습니다. 제가 생각할 때에 그녀가 살해대상으로서 노려진 이유 중에 여성이라는 것은 절대적인 비중을 차지하지 않으며, 시간 장소 등 다른 요소들과 등치라고 생각합니다. 그녀가 여성이라는 요소가 이런 소요를 야기할 일이라 한다면, 왜 강남역 주변 치안상태라든가 특정 시간 집중 단속이라든가 하는 이슈는 표면화되지 않는 걸까요. [왜 여성이라는 점이 가장 부각되어 있을까요.] 지금까지 저의 생각은 그게 입맛에 맞았던 이들의 타이밍 러시에 기인한 바가 크며, 이게 또 가장 자극적인 제목이 될 재목이라서 언론의 지원사격이 터지고 있기 때문이라 생각하고 있습니다. 특히 언론의 행태는 아주 마음에 들지 않습니다. 끽해야 자극적인 제목으로 클릭을 낚으려는 시도... 그 정도 수준이라고 생각합니다. 물론 그 배경에는 나름대로의 정치적 사회적 계산이 있겠지만요. 이 피해자는 아까운 목숨을 안타깝게 잃어야 했습니다. 그녀의 죽음에다가 이런 저런 리본을 묶어서 순교자로 만들고, 사람들의 기억 속에 '여자라서 죽은 사람'으로 남겨야 하는 이유가 과연 있을까요. 전 잘 모르겠습니다. 2. 메갈이라는 집단, 혹은 그 뿌리가 된 여시, 그 잎이나 꽃쯤 된다는 워마드라는 곳 포함해서, 사회악이라 생각합니다. 비교의 필요성조차 느끼지 못할 만큼 일베나 여기나 거기나 싹 다 사회에서 격리조치해야 하는게 아닌가 싶은 마음입니다. 사회 구성원으로서의 자격이 불충분한 자들이 농도 짙게 모여있는 곳이 아닐까요. 그럼에도 불구하고 저들이 저렇게 뭔가 열심히 부르짖으니 한 번 귀를 기울일까 했습니다만, 실패했습니다. 대체 저들은 [원하는 게 뭡니까?] 영화 제목같군요. 저들이나 일베나 저는 대체 이것들이 궁극적으로 지향하는 점이 어디인지 모르겠습니다. 현재 파악한 바로는 한국 남자들 박멸하고 외국에서 남자 수입해 와서 살고 싶다는 것인 듯도 하고요. 이게 사실이라면 북한이 미제 제국주의자들 타도하고 주체사상으로 세계정복 하겠다고 발광하는 것과 큰 수준차이를 못느끼겠습니다. 아니군요. 북쪽 인간들은 어느 정도의 군사력이라도 쥐고서 지껄인다지만 이쪽은 입만 나불대는 중2병 수준이니까요. 3. 메갈계열 개소리와 분류해서, 페미니즘을 표방하시는 분들에게도 본질적인 질문이 생겼습니다. 페미니즘이라는 것은 '남녀의 권리가 평등하지 않으니 이 수준을 맞추자'가 본질인가요, 그렇지 않으면 '여자가 남자에 비해 열악하니 뭐라도 얼마라도 더 받아야 한다'는 것인가요. 전자라면 지극히 당연한 생각이겠으나, 후자라면 한 번에 삼키기 힘든 덩어리지요. 병역 문제 등 남성에게 불리한 제도나 문화에 대한 페미니스트들의 견해는 어떠한가요. '다른 데서 불합리한 차별이 존재하니 이 정도의 역차별은 있어도 괜찮다'인지, '역차별도 불합리하니 시정해야 한다'는 입장인지 그도 아니면 '열라 당연한 건데 그게 무슨 역차별이고 불공평임?'인지요. 유가족들은 지금 이 꼴을 보며 무슨 생각을 하실 지 모르겠습니다. 제 3자가 온전히 스스로의 입장을 대변하기 위해서 -불운하게 흉악한 범죄에 희생된 가족으로 인해 슬프고 분노했을- 그들의 마음에 '쟤가 나쁘다'며 증오의 대상을 오도하여 짚어주고 있는 상황은 아닐까요. 저는 현재 그렇게 느낍니다만, 이게 제 안에서 아직 확신으로 굳어지진 않는군요. 일단 제가 여성이 아니며, 저라는 사람이 여성과의 커뮤니케이션에 매우 서툴고, 여성과의 커뮤니케이션을 가능한한 피하는 성향이라서 여성의 의견이나 시각을 접할 수 없었기 때문입니다. 현재까지는 감정적인 이야기들을 많이 접했습니다만, '열받으니 때려주자'라든가 '무서우니 저리가라'는 것은 논리와는 괴리된 이야기가 아닐까 생각합니다. 적어도 제게는 내가 한 짓이 아닌 일로 열받은 이에게 맞아주거나, 가만히 있다가 무섭다는 이유로 쫓겨나는 것은 주먹이 가위에게 지는 것만큼 불합리한 일입니다. 살면서 단 한 번도 여성에게 폭력을 행사한 일이 없는 제가 뭘 어떻게 더 각성하고 해야 하는지 퍽 궁금합니다. 중요한 건 자신의 심경을 진솔하게 이야기하는 것, 그것을 경청하는 것이라고 생각해요. 제가 남성유저가 많은 사이트에서 메갈에 우호적인 발언하는 것에 위화감을 덜 느끼는 건 경청하는 분들의 배려때문이지 제 주장이 늘상 맞기 때문에 그런 건 아닐 거예요. 왕천군님의 장문의 글이 보태짐으로 인해 홍차넷의 분위기가 또 다른 위화감을 조성하지 않고 No.42님의 글을 불러온 것도 경청하는 이들의 배려덕분일 거예요. 저는 사건 터지고 나서 잔인한 범죄에 경악하면서도 포스트잇내용에 불편함을 느끼셨다는 피지알의 어떤 점잖은 분의 글도 좋았어요. 너무 위축되지 마셨음 합니다. 밈이 때론 지나치게 장엄한데 그거 다 부질없어요;;
