안녕하세요. 10쪽짜리 노멀급 서면을 털고 30쪽짜리 베리하드급 서면을 9쪽까지 쓴다음에 너무나 지겨워져 문득 옛날 추억이나 써볼까 하고 글을 적습니다. 드라마 D.P.를 보면서 20년된 옛추억들이 새록새록 떠올랐습니다. 나름 군생활을 부대끼면서 하진 않아서 부조리에 대한 추억은 별로 없지만, 탐라에도 잠깐 남기긴 했는데, 드라마에서 보면 제 포지션은 허기영에 가까운 포지션이었습니다. 드라마에서 허기영의 특징이 무엇일까요? 빅맥, 안경, 츤데레 등 여러 특성이 있습니다만, 등장장소가 수사과에 한정되어 있다는 점을 쉽게 파악하신 분이 계실까 싶습니다. 제가 허기영에 가깝다는 포지션은 그러한 연유에서입니다. 저도 보급과에서 나온 적이 별로 없거든요. (...) 저는 사단 보급대 3종계원이었습니다. 군 보급체계에 대해서 조금 아시는 분이라면 아시겠지만, 모르시는 분들을 위하여 설명드리면 주유소 출납계원이라고 보시면 되겠습니다. 그런데 제가 출납계 업무만 한 것은 아닙니다. 저 때문에 부대 보좌관이 인가에도 없는 비밀취급증을 받아오겠다고 설치던 적도 있었거든요. 뭐 물론 인가에 없으니 못받았지만.. 그정도로 많이 무언가를 쳤습니다. (절대 제가 인가 여부와는 관련없이 부대 2급비밀문서 편집을 도맡았다고 쓴 것이 아닙니다.) 부대 편제상 보좌관이 1,3종 보급관을 겸하고 있었고, 1종계원은 저보다 워드를 못친다는 이유로.. 이등병 말차때 새로 부임한 보좌관이 대위 말년차였다는 이유로.. 그래서 (사람은 좋던) 그 보좌관의 진급이 보급과 전체의 과업이 되었다는 이유로.. 저는 이등병 말차부터 보급과 사무실에서 잘 나오지 못했습니다. 부사수가 들어온 말년 60일전까지. 0. 열외사항과 비열외사항의 구분. - 엄지발가락, 무릎의 간격, 담배 끄는 방식, 걸레 잡는 순서, 미싱할 때 포지션 등등이 짬의 상징이던, 태권브이 활동복을 물려입던 시절, 40명이 한 내무반을 쓰던 시절이었습니다. 저 때 즈음에서 공식적인 구타는 없어졌지만, 구타로 영창도 여럿 다녀오던 때였구요. - 그런 쌍팔년도와 선진병영의 그 어딘가에 있던 시점에, 제가 열외된 사항은 다음과 같습니다. : 일석점호 절반 이상 : 일조점호 상당수 : 부대작업 거의 전부 : 급속불출 필요해서 전부대가 동원되는 경우를 제외한 불출 일체 : 혹한기훈련 일체. 이등병때는 전입 직후라 가지 않았고, 상병때는 월요일에 붙잡혀 왔습니다. : 유격훈련 2/3 이상. 일병때는 화요일 복귀, 병장때는 말년이라 그냥 누웠습니다(...) 저는 화생방을 훈련소 이후로 받은 적이 없습니다. : ATT 일체 : 대부분의 내밑니위 집합. 몇번 가본적은 있습니다만, 나중에 동기 말을 들어보니 저는 기본적으로 열외였다고 하더군요. 불쌍해서(...) - 제가 열외되지 못한 사항은 다음과 같습니다. : 야간 초소근무 및 불침번. 부대 인원이 적어서 답이 없었습니다. : 종교행사. 역시 인원이 적어서.. : 제설작업(...) 1. 전무후무한 포상휴가 - 제 앞뒤로 4년간 아무도 부대에서 포상휴가를 간 적이 없습니다. 보급대 인원이 너무 적어서 딱히 포상을 받아도 정기 정해진 거 먼저 내보내다보면 나갈 틈이 없기도 했고, 대장이 짠돌이(..)기도 했고, 보급대 특성상 특별한 무공을 내세울만한 사항도 없기도 해서.. 저희때부터 태권도가 활성화가 막 될까말까 하는 때라 사단 직할까지 그 흐름이 미치지는 못할 때였고, 사격훈련 만발 쏘는 부대원이 꽤 있었는데, 보급대에서 만발 쏴봐야 아무 의미 없습니다.; - 그런데 그런 제가 4박5일 포상휴가를 나갔습니다. 년결산 하면서 기존 몇년간 꼬였던 수치들을 다 (가라로) 조정하고, 보좌관이 요구하는 뭔지도 모를 각종 문서들을 쳐서 공급하고, 이거저거 했더니 보좌관이 고생했다고 건의했다더군요. 이래저래 뭐해서 보좌관은 사단장 표창을 받았나 뭔가 했다던데 관심도 없고 스물둘짜리가 들어서 뭘 알 때는 아니니까요. - 그런데 부대원들은 아무도 제게 질투를 하지 않았습니다. 그 이유가, 일주일동안 20시간 남짓 자면서 한달을 버틸 바에는 그냥 휴가 안나간다는 여론이 대세가 되었기 때문입니다. ("저새끼 아직도 안 잔대?") - 보급대 특성상 업무가 미묘하게 빡세면서도 딱히 정신적인 스트레스를 받는 병과가 아니다보니.. 묘하게 사제물 잘 안 빠지는 병과이기도 하고 그럼에서 나오는 희안한 부조리가 또 있는 병과입니다만;; 어쨌든 대세가 그래되어서 저는 잘 자다오라는 토닥임을 받으며 휴가를 나갔더랬습니다. - 실제로 나간 당일은 24시간 정도 잤습니다. 2. 선임의 추억 - 보급과에는 문서보관실이 있습니다. 몇년 묵은 문서들을 처박아두는 골방인데, 이거저거 가져다 놓고 선임들이 쓰는 방이고, 짬찌들은 가끔 옛날 문서 찾으러 들어가는 곳이었지요. - 선임들이 창고에서 폐품으로 들어온 A급 매트리스 몇 개 줏어다가 자기들이 짱박혀서 누워 놀곤 했습니다. - 일병 짬찌 어느날.. 새벽 3시에 잠을 깨려고 보급과 여기저기를 돌아다니다가 그 문서수발실에 들어갔더랬습니다. 매트리스가 보이잖아요? 새벽 3시에 부대에서 깨있는 사람은 수면과 기상상태가 중첩된 슈뢰딩거의 일직들과 불침번 뿐이니.. 눕기만 해도 피곤이 좀 풀릴거 같아 잠깐만 눕자고 머리를 땅에 댔습니다. - 물론 저도 그 슈뢰딩거였으므로 머리를 땅에 대는 순간이 수면을 관측하는 그 순간 아니겠습니까? - 그 다음 기억은 보관실 문이 열리고, 9개월 선임(당시 상말 전달)이었던 불침번이 저를 물끄러미 보던 기억이 있고, 그리고 다시 시계를 확인하니 3시 40분쯤 되었더랬습니다. - 공포영화 따로 볼 필요 없습니다. 그날 그 선임의 눈빛만 떠올리면 되니까요. 부대 깨스에.. 미싱에.. 각종 갈굼에.. - 그런데, 이상하게 다음날 아무렇지도 않은 일상이 계속되었습니다. 어느 미친 일병짬찌 새끼가 보급과 창고에서 짱박혀 자고 있더라는 얘기는 꿈같은 얘기더라고요. 진짜 꿈을 꿨는지도 모르겠습니다. 결국 그 선임에게는 전역할때도 물어보지 못했고.. 그 미묘한 표정은 20년이 지난 지금까지도 선명한데요. - 동훈이형. 감사합니다. 3. 보좌관이 제 입맛 맞춰준다고 야근할 때 음악 들으라고 허가해줘서 사제 음악CD 반입하는데 육사출신 소대장이 입이 댓발 나온 얘기도 있고.. 워드 치기 너무 싫어서 취사지원 도망다녔던 얘기도 있고.. 전역신고하려 들어가서 보급대장 초등학교 동창회 통신문 쳐준 다음에 신고하고 나온 얘기도 있고.. 더 있는데 이제 다시 서면 쓰러 가야 해서 이만 줄입니다. 20년이 다가도 뭔가를 계속 쓰고 있네요. 허허... 사단 보급대면 꽤나 고생 많으셨네요. 특히 1,3종 계원들이 고생이 제일 많죠...
저는 일선 중대 비인가 인사계였습니다 ㅎㅎ 일선 중대는 보급, 화학, 통신병2명만 중대본부 정식 인가라서... 저같은 인사계는 보통 비인가였죠. ㅎㅎㅎ. 전역하는날 아침에 부대일지 쓰다가 대대장 면담하고 부대일지 마저 쓰고 전역했는데... 저 못지 않으시군요 ㅎㅎ
저는 타자 치다가가 옆으로 쓰러졌는데 깨어보니 이틀이 지나있더군요. 사단 의무대에서 눈을 떴습니다 ㅎㅎㅎ .....
