모름지기 지식인이 국가에 상소를 할 때는 목에 칼이 들어와도 자신의 신념을 위해 죽음을 불사하겠다는 기개가 필요합니다. 그래야 우리처럼 못배운 프롤레타리아들에게 호소할 수 있으니까요. 우리처럼 용돈 벌겠다고 알바를 하지도 않았고 고갱님에게 잘보이려고 헤헤호호 아부한적도 없지만 그들이 들고 일어났을때 무게감이 다른건 우리가 그분들이 배를 곯아가면서 머릿속에 쌓아온 수십권의 책들을 감히 넘어설수는 없으니까요. 우리 사회의 전교 1등이 하던 역할과 같은 위치에 계시던 하던 조선시대 유생과 선비들이 백의종군을 하며 죽여주시옵소서 곡을 하며 임금님께 상소를 올리던 그런 모습들을 우리 농노들은 잘 기억하고 있고 한국에서 '배운 사람'에 대한 존경심과 그들의 내는 전문지식에 기반한 목소리에 대한 존중은 지식인에 대한 막연한 기대감에서 오는 것이니까요. 그 동안 의료인들이 공공의대에 반대하면서 들고온 1. 의료의 질이 떨어진다(질 낮은 의사가 국민건강에 해가 된다) 2. 현실성이 없다(시장논리). 라는 근거를 일단 믿어줬습니다. 저는 공부 못해서 의대 못갔으니까요. 의료에 대해서 아는거라고는 1학년 때 생명과학 3학점 들은게 전부고 크게 아픈적도 없어서 내과에서 이부프로펜 정도 처방 받아본적 밖에 없는 깜냥뿐인 제가 감히 초중고 12년 동안 전교권에서 놀다가 의대가서 6년동안 배우고 4년 동안 전문의 수련한 그들의 내공을 판단할 그릇은 아니잖아요. 그래서 이번에 국시 안보겠다고 했을 때 잘은 모르겠지만 꽤나 심각한 건인가보다 했습니다. 정말로 의료수준이 떨어지는건가, 의료업계가 붕괴되는건가하는 초조한 마음에 일단 의사편 들어줬거든요. 근데 다시 번복하고 국시 보겠다는 그들을 보면서 그냥 저들도 우리 농노들이랑 같은 배부르고 등따시고 좋은 배우자 만나서 어여쁜 자식 낳고 살고 싶어하는 그저그런 솔직한 사람들이구나 라는 생각이 듭니다. 그 동안 의료 전문지식에 대한 정보 비대칭을 이런식으로 악용해온건가 하는 의심도 들고, 그 동안 지식인층 취급해준것에 배신감도 생기고요. 결국 총평해보자면 국가 vs 의사에서 국가의 밥그릇 흔들기가 결국 이겼습니다. 뭐 자세한 내막이야 미주알고주알 수도 없이 많을 것이고 정치적인것도 물론 포함되어 있겠지만 우리 농노들은 의사님들이 나랏님과 도대체 어떤 싸움을 해온것인지 알 방법이 없으니까요. 꼬우면 의대정원 없애고 완전 개방하시던가요. 어? 이거 완전 공공의대잖아? 비단 국가 vs 의사 간의 싸움이 아니라 국가 vs 지식인이 되었을 때 국가의 절대 우위인 밥그릇 흔들기에 안넘어갈 지식인층이 이제는 과연 존재할까 하는 씁쓸한 생각이 드네요. 제가 20대동안 경험해온 개인주의와 그에 맞닿아 있는 배금주의에 물든 시대정신에서 성장해온 우리들이 이끌어나갈 나라의 미래에 과연 공공의 이익을 위해 목소리를 내줄만한 사람들이 남아있을까요? 누구에게나 밥그릇이 가장 중요합니다. 그들이 엄청난 금수저라 밥그릇 따위 필요 없는 사람들로만 구성되어있다면 모를까. 그런 슈퍼 금수저들, 밥그릇 따위 신경 안써도 될정도의 수저를 가진 사람들만 의사되고 교수될 수 있는 세상 보다는 밥그릇에 목을 맬 수 밖에 없는 보통의 계층의 사람들도 의사가 되고 교수가 되는 세상이 더 낫지 않나요.
