제가 이런 쪽으로 문외한이라 궁금해서 여쭙습니다. 그래픽카드라는게 주로 pc 게임을 돌리기 위해 있는 장치로 알고 있는데요. 그런데 이 pc 게임이라는게 비디오 게임이나 핸드폰 게임에 비하면 상당히 작은 시장으로 알고 있는데 어떻게 제조업체들이 기업 규모를 유지할 수 있는지 궁금합니다. 게임 외에도 인공지능이라던가 비트코인 등에도 쓰인다고는 들었는데, 이는 비교적 최근에 붐이 생긴 걸로 알고 있어서요. 개념상으로는 매우 단순하게 생긴 CPU 코어가 수천,수만(앞으로는 수십만)개가 있어서 병렬 연산이 가능해지는거죠.
행렬 합, 행렬 곱 연산을 할때 필요한 실제 계산 횟수를 생각해보면 될 것 같구요.
그래서 슈퍼컴퓨팅 등 병렬 연산이 필요한 경우에도 많이 사용해왔습니다.
