[부인의 호흡기 질환 원인이 깔끔히 밝혀졌습니다. 부인에게는 심한 고양이 털 알레르기가 있었어요! 고양이와 떨어지시면 자연히 낫습니다!!]] [죄송합니다. 선생님, 저는 제 고양이와 도저히 떨어질 수 없는데 그냥 아프지만 않는 약을 주실 수 없을까요? 저희 고양이가 무지개 다리 건널 때까지만이라도] 좀 더 알기 쉽게 고양이 알레르기 예를 들었지만 제가 정말로 이야기하고 싶은 것은 우울증에 대해서입니다. 한 우울증 판정을 받은 지는 20년 정도 되어가는데, 치료를 받다 말다 하다 2~3년 전부터는 치료를 완전히 그만 두었습니다. 열심히 심리상담이니 검사니 받으러 다니다 보니 병인(病因)에 대해선 뭔지 확신이 들었는데, 이걸 그대로 방치하고 있는 이상 아무리 떠들고 약을 먹고 명상을 해 봤자 시간낭비 돈낭비라는 생각이 들어서요. 치료의 1보는 병인(病因)에서 떨어지는 것이겠지만 그게 저 부인의 경우처럼 쉽지 않은 경우가 많겠죠. 애초에 그렇게 쉽게 떨쳐낼 수 있는 거라면 그걸 병인으로 해서 마음에 병이 들지도 않을 거고요. 어떤 사람에게는 직장이 고양이일 것이고, 어떤 사람에게는 부모, 어떤 사람에게는 열등감, 어떤 사람에게는....트라우마.. 떨어지기 쉽지 않은 것들, 억지로 떨어뜨린다면 인생에 큰 대가를 치뤄야 하는 것들이 한둘이 아니지요. 여쭤보고자 하는 건 이렇게 병인을 그대로 놔둔채로, 근본치료는 포기하고 오로지 일정 기간 증상만 억제한다는 개념으로 우울증을 다룰 수 있는 가 하는 것입니다. 구체적으로는 1. 그게 가능한 건가 2. 그게 가능하다면 부작용이 있진 않나. 약이라면 내성이 생겨 계속 고용량을 먹게 되다가 다른데가 망가진다던가 3. 이 경우 평생 약 또는 다른 요법을 받아야 하는 건가. 4. 기타 다른 문제는 없을까 같은 것들입니다. 우울증 때문에 안 좋은 점중 하나는 때때로 스트레스에 극도로 취약해진다는 건데 삶에 있어서 나이는 먹어가고 이뤄 놓은 건 별로 없고 하니 저는 약해져 가는데 스트레스는 강해져 가기만 하네요. 언제까지 버틸 수 있을 지 자신이 없습니다.
