여기도 옆동네도 게임게시판에 글이 없는 것 같아 새벽에 게임 깬 후기 한번 투척해봅니다. 일단 은하연방으로 시작해서 지배 승리 1회 해볼 때 까지 플레이타임 28시간이 걸렸습니다. 아마 다시 하면 더 빨리 할 수는 있겠지만 당장은 다시 하고 싶지는 않네요.. 게임은 2200년부터 시작됩니다만 제가 클리어할때는 2389년이었습니다. 일단 처음 시작하고나서 느끼는건 뭔가 스케일 커보이고 본격적인 것 같고 우리가 여태까지 해왔던 역설사 게임 전작들의 미칠듯한 볼륨이 떠오르면서 야 역시 역설사야 이게 바로 갓게임! 갓텔라리스! 갓갓갓갓갓! 라는 감탄사가 나오곤 합니다만.. 끝까지 다 해본 소감은 갓텔라리스까지는 아니고 스텔라리스로구만.. 이라고 해두겠습니다. 이 게임의 승리조건은 두 가지가 있습니다. 하나는 [지배 승리]고 하나는 [정복 승리]입니다. 지배 승리는 전체 거주 가능한 행성의 40%를 점령하면 가능한 승리이고 정복 승리는 다른 모든 문명들을 정복하면 달성 가능한 승리조건입니다. 이 두개가 왜 나뉘어져있는지 저는 이해를 못하고 있습니다. 이참에 여쭤보고 싶네요. 이게 왜 나뉘어져있는지 아시는분은 좀 알려주세요. 궁금합니다. 아무리 봐도 정복승리로 가는 도중에 지배 승리가 달성되버리는데 말입니다. 그리고 승리조건이 달랑 두개만 있는데, 이게 저 두가지 말고 다른 조건이 있는지도 잘 모르겠네요. 아무튼 문명(어쩔 수 없이 비교를 계속 하게 됩니다)처럼 과학승리나 문화승리 이런건 없고 오로지 이 넓은 은하계에 얼마나 우리 문명의 이름 하에 많은 면적을 점유하느냐가 게임의 목적이라 할 수 있습니다. 제가 플레이했던 은하연방기준으로, 처음에 우리가 살고있는 태양계에서 게임을 시작합니다. 태양계는 수많은 성계 중 하나에 불과합니다. 정말 어마어마하게 많은 성계가 존재합니다. 성계 하나에 적으면 행성 2개, 많으면 6~7개정도 있으며 디폴트 설정에선 행성 600개로 설정되어있습니다. 이 많은 성계들은 몇시간 후 당신의 뒷목을 잡게 할 수도 있으니 처음 시작 시에 옵션에서 줄이는것도 방법일 것 같네요. 자꾸 말이 새서 죄송합니다. 어찌되었든 은하연방으로 우리 태양계에서 처음 게임을 시작하면 지구 화성 토성 목성 태양 등등 우리 행성계가 보이고 그것을 내 통제 하에 개척할 수 있다는 사실이 플레이어를 흥분시키죠. 과학선으로 미지의 행성을 탐험할때마다, 특정 확률로 각종 돌발 이벤트가 벌어집니다. 목성의 위성 중 하나에서 미네랄을 발견하면 미네랄을 채굴하기 위해 건설선으로 플랫폼을 건설하러 보내기도 하지요. 재밌습니다. AI의 동맹 제의 메시지의 표현과 같이 [우주는 어둡고 무섭습니다.] 그렇기 때문에 초반 자원이 없는 상황에서의 긴장감 넘치는 우주탐험은 큰 재미로 느껴졌었죠. 수수께끼의 우주 괴수들에게 습격당해서 과학선이 위기에 빠지기도 하고, 한눈 판 사이에 박살도 나고 그럽니다. 여기까지는 제가 바라던 우주배경 4X 갓게임의 모습 그대로였지요. (아는 사람이 얼마나 계실지는 모르겠으나 마치 Thea라는 4X게임을 처음 접했을때의 그 감격을 느끼는 듯 했습니다. 근데 뒷심은 오히려 Thea쪽이 더 있는 것 같기도 하고..) 그러나 시간이 지나면서 확장을 거듭하고 성계 5,6개정도 먹고 나서부턴 '으응?' 하면서 싸한 기분이 들게 됩니다. 조작이 빡세집니다. 과학선으로 외부 성계의 미지를 밝히고 건설선으로 우리 성계의 내실을 다지는 즐거움! 그것은 초중반까지만 즐거움이고, 그 후부터는 뭔가 반복적이면서도 보람없는, 불편한 노가다가 되는 기분이 듭니다. 즐거움이 즐거움이 아니게 되는 순간부터 뭔가 서글퍼지더군요. 게임 내내 손이 무지 많이 갑니다. 웃기는건 이 게임이 세이브/로드 속도가 엄청 빠른 편이고, 자동저장도 거의 위화감없이 순식간에 됩니다. 게임 내내 계속 저런 자잘한 일에 손을 써야 하다보니 게임을 쉴 타이밍이 애매해서 게임을 계속 하게 되는 정신나간 마성을 자랑합니다. 뭔가 그렇게 재미는 없는데 계속 하고 있는 자신의 모습을 발견할 수 있었습니다. -_-; 저 개인적으로는 문명5보다 오래 잡고 있었는데, 아마 사용자가 공백을 느끼지 못하게 하는 빠른 속도 덕분이 아닌가 싶네요. 장점인지 단점인지.. 아무튼 승리조건에 부합하기 위해서 당신은 외부 성계를 잔뜩 정복해야합니다. 정복을 하려면 군대를 모아야하니 자원이 필요하겠죠! 그런데 자원을 먹으려면 자원이 있는 성계가 우리 성역에 포함되어 있어야 합니다. 이 성역이란건 스타크래프트에서 파일런과 같다고 보면 되겠습니다. 자원을 많이 먹으려면 아무튼 성역을 확장하며 플레이 해야합니다. 우리 성역에 간신히 포함된 성계에서는 자원을 맘껏 캐올 수 있지만, 1cm라도 벗어나있다면 뭔 수를 써도 그 자원을 먹을 수가 없거든요. 그러니 전략적인 플레이를 해야합니다. 그냥 우리 고향 성계에 짱박혀서 기술연구만 하고 싶으실 수도 있겠지만 다른 성계로 치고 나가지 않으면 자원이 너무나도 부족하기 때문에 도저히 발전 속도가 나오지 않습니다. 인류건 외계인이건 다같이 사이좋게 외우주로 나가야만 하는 것이고, 그러다 만나기도 하는 것입니다. 그러다가 마주치면 주먹부터 날리면서 싸우기도 하고, 서로 사이좋게 지내다가 싸우기도 하고 그러는거죠. 그러나 그놈의 성역 확장도 쉽지가 않습니다. 여러분의 자원은 한정되어있고 점령해야 할 별은 너무나도 많습니다. 그런데 그 텅 비어있는 별도 아무렇게나 나 하고 싶은대로 들어앉아 살 수가 없습니다. 후기라서 자세히 쓰진 않겠지만 대충 세가지 난관이 당신을 기다립니다. 첫번째는 행성 적성이 맞아야합니다. 이 게임은 종족별로 살기 적합한 별의 환경이 다 다르게 설정되어있습니다. 인간같은 경우는 대륙형(쉽게말해 지구) 행성에 가장 알맞고, 사막이나 얼음행성에서는 거의 살아가는게 불가능합니다만 어떤 외계인은 얼음행성에 최적화되있기도 하고, 어떤 촉수외계인은 해양 행성에 최적화되있는 등 종족마다 설정치가 다 다릅니다. 알기 쉽게 말하면 여러분이 인간으로 게임을 시작했는데 여러분 성계 주변의 거주 가능한 행성 타입이 얼음, 사막, 죽은 행성만 좍 깔려있다면 좋지 않은 전개라고 할 수 있겠죠. 두번째는 장애물입니다. 각 행성은 POP이라고 해서 인구가 들어앉을 수 있는 구획을 가지고 있습니다. 그런데 이 구획에 얼음산맥이나, 사나운 토착생물(요녀석도 딱히 나한테 해를 끼치진 않아서 실망..), 늪지, 싱크홀 등등의 장애물이 들어앉아있는 경우가 있습니다. 그 경우에는 그걸 치워버릴 수 있는 기술 연구가 선행되어야만 그곳에 인구를 앉힐 수 있지요. 간혹가다 치울 수 없는 거대한 생물이라는 장애물도 존재합니다. 장애물의 위치를 잘 고려해서 행성을 발전시켜야겠죠. 세번째는 자원의 압박입니다. 성역 확장은 공짜로 하는게 아니거든요. 성역 확장은 크게 두가지 방법이 있습니다. 1. [개척선]을 보내서 빈 성에 커맨드센터를 앉히거나, 2. [전초기지]를 지어서 짓거나. [개척선]은 앉힐 행성만 있으면 다 좋은데 돈이 많이 듭니다. 만드는데 미네랄도 많이 먹는게, 출발하는 그 순간부터 어마어마한 유지비를 잡아먹습니다. 개척선이 새 행성을 식민지화 하는 도중에도 많은 돈이 소비됩니다. 그리고 행성이 어느정도 발전할 때 까진 그 행성 주변 성역은 코딱지만큼의 넓이만 주어지게 되죠. 전초기지 쪽이 성역이 넓어지는 범위는 훨씬 더 넓습니다만 이건 영향력이라는 무지막지 중요한 자원을 어마어마하게 잡아먹습니다. 영향력 한번 빵꾸나면 몇십년은 세월 가는걸 지켜보면서 옵저버처럼 살 때도 있습니다. ㅠㅠ 더럽게 안오르는데 쓰기는 금방 쓰게 되는 레어자원이죠. 맘편히 개척선을 보내서 그냥 행성에 앉혀버리고 싶어도, 자원만 있고 거주가 불가능한 행성이 이 우주에는 대부분입니다. 그지같은 행성환경을 테라포밍해서 조금 낫게 끌어올리는 방법도 있습니다만 이 테라포밍이야말로 정말 천문학적인 돈과 세월이 필요하기 때문에, 결국 확장을 하기 위해선 자원의 압박이 따라오게 됩니다. 이 세가지 난관과 치열하게 싸우면서 여러분이 성계를 느릿느릿 확장하다보면 외계인들의 문명과 만나게 됩니다. 외계인도 확장을 하고 있습니다. 그것도 엄청난 속도로요! 시간이 갈 수록 빈 땅이 없어지고, 여러분의 과학선은 빈 성계를 두근두근 탐험하는 일 대신 전쟁하다가 박살난 우주선 조각같은거나 분석하러 돌아다닐 확률이 높습니다. 어느정도 성계를 넓히다보면 외계인과의 대립이 시작됩니다. 막 서로의 트레잇에 얽힌 상성이나 각 세력에 얽혀있는 기가막히는 음모 뭐 이런거 생각하시겠지만 아쉽게도 그런건 좀 부족합니다. 결국은 싸움! 적을 굴복시켜 속국으로 만들고 다음 세력과 또 싸움! 그 적을 또 속국으로 만들고 그 다음 세력과 또 싸움! 솔직히 그거 말고는 할 게 없어요. 쉽게 정리하면 이 게임은 열심히 자원을 모으다가 한방병력 모아서 착한(가끔 나쁜) 외계인들을 쳐부수고 승리조건을 달성하는 게임입니다. 그리고 그 과정이 무척 단조롭습니다. 가장 큰 단점입니다. 뭔가 이것저것 더 잘 만들수 있겠다 싶은 소재는 많은데 상당히 좀 아쉬운 부분이 많이 느껴지더군요. 그래도 좋았던 부분을 말해보자면, 역시 이벤트였습니다. 원시종족의 행성을 발견해서 그들을 몰래 관찰하거나, 개입하거나 하는 이벤트도 정말정말 좋았어요. 그런게 바로 우주구로 노는 우월한 문명을 가진 세력을 플레이하며 느낄 수 있는 재미죠. 그리고 게임을 좀 길게 하다보면 스컬지라고 해서 은하계 바깥에서 치고들어오는 제 3의 종족이 있습니다. 크킹의 몽골같은거라고 보시면 되겠네요. 가만히 놔두면 자리잡은 근처 세력을 차례차례 다 때려부수고 행성을 감염시키면서 은하계를 순식간에 자기네 영역으로 먹어버리는 일종의 재해같은겁니다. 저는 지배 승리를 코앞에 두고 게임이 너무 지루했는데요. 그 쯤에 제 세력 본진 바로 위쪽에 스컬지가 쾅 등판하면서 급긴장타고 제대로 게임을 했습니다. 이런 제 3의 세력같은 요소도 참 좋았던 것 같습니다. 역시 지나고보면 이벤트에요. 이벤트가 부족해요!! 확장단계에서는 탐사결과에 따라 이벤트가 좀 나오는 편인데, 서로 세력이 찰싹 붙어있는 교착상태중에는 그런 새로운 발견 같은게 없습니다. 소소한 이벤트가 많이 발생했으면 좋겠는데, 나중 가면 기술 발전에 따라 지도자들 수명도 늘어나고 사건은 점점 줄어들고, 전쟁 한번 할때마다 게임이 질질 늘어지는 기분이 듭니다. 근데 그와중에 웃기는건 현재 최신 버전인 1.02 버전에 버그가 있어서, 스컬지가 감염시켜버린 행성 파괴가 불가능합니다. 스컬지가 감염시킨 행성은 재활용도 안되고 그냥 전함들 몰고가서 다 폭파시켜버려야 하는데, 내구도가 0이 되어도 폭파가 안되는 버그가 존재합니다. 대충 찾아보니 버그 픽스된 모드가 있어서 그거 깔고 해결했는데... 처음 플레이하는데 이상한 버그가 있어서 한 30년정도 이녀석들이랑 씨름을 했죠. -_- 이외에도 자잘한 버그가 많습니다. 상대 행성 점령전을 펼치던 지상군이 상대가 항복하면 특정 조건 하에서 사라져버린다던지-_-;; 우리 함대를 병합/분열을 연달아서 시키면 제독이 변경이 안된다던지.. 초 거대한 운석이 날아와서 별이 박살날 위기에 처해 그 운석을 전함을 몰고가 격파하는 이벤트가 있는데요. 그 운석 파괴 완료 메시지가 뜰때 게임을 일시정지하고 확인을 누르면 게임이 튕겨버린다던지 하는 기묘한 버그들이 잔뜩 있습니다. 아쉬운점을 좀 더 말하자면 UI도 좀 불친절 합니다. 일단 상태 정보 창의 행성이나 함대 등을 핫키로 지정할 수 있는건 좋아요. 근데 그 순서를 드래그등으로 바꿀 수도 있게 하면 더 좋았을겁니다. 알림메시지도 크킹처럼 뭔가 커스터마이징이 안되고, 무분별하게 계속 떠요. 닫기도 귀찮아요. 전투도 사실 뭐가 어떻게 되어가는지, 무기별 상성이 어떻게 되는지도 직관적으로 잘 보이지가 않습니다. 전투 후 결과 정보창도 그냥 숫자만 주르륵 써있을 뿐 이런 통계는 만들어서 뭐하나 싶은 정보로 보이더군요. 아 근데 이건 크킹도 그랬죠.. 익듁해지면 될 일이긴 합니다만. 구획쪽 UI나 조작 성능도 좀 아쉽습니다. 할 수 있는게 별로 없어요. 흘러가는대로 그냥 자원 쌓이는거 기다리기만 해야할 것 같은 느낌.. 기술 발전도 뭔가 테크트리를 육안으로 볼 수 있는 것도 아니고 랜덤으로 차례차례 개발해나가는건데, 왜 이렇게 해놨는지 이해가 가지 않았습니다. 기술연구의 이런 점은 게임에 있어서 재미요소도 뭣도 아닌 것 같아요. 그냥 피곤한 시간보내기지. 그리고 외교도 너무 단조롭습니다. -_-; 노라이프로 이 게임을 깬 후에 할 말은 아니지만 뭔가 좀 아쉬워요. 갓텔라리스일 수 있었는데. 더 재밌을 수 있을 것 같은데, 틀은 참 잘 만들어놨는데 안의 내용이 생각만큼 실하지 않은 느낌? 그래도 역설사 게임은 팬들 말마따나 모드가 나오면서 더 좋아지는 게임이니 추후에 더 재밌는 대격변이 있을거라 생각하면 기대가 되기도 합니다.
