 요즘 삼국지 6를 플레이하고 있습니다. 솔직히 말하면 게임으로서 어느정도 재미를 느끼기에는 컨텐츠가 너무 많이 소비된데다가 이미 후속작 저는 삼국지2로 입문했습니다. 게임 잡지에 딸려온 부록으로 꼬꼬마 때 삼국지 2를 받았는데 시작할 때 조합코드를 보고 잡지에 있는 숫자코드를 입력해야만 게임이 실행되던 요상한 방식의 프로그램이었습니다. 그걸몰라서 한 1년 정도를 실행 못시키고 묵혀두었는데, 어느날 친구가 그 숫자코드의 존재를 알려보면서 잡지에 적혀있던 숫자코드 카피본을 저에게 건내주었고 그에 맞는 숫자코드를 입력해서 게임이 처음 실행되었을 때의 쾌감은 아직도 어렴풋히 남아있네요. 많은 사람들이 삼국지5가 불후의 명작이라고 하는데 그 때에는 인터넷이 있던 시절도 아니고 인터넷 통신을 다루기에는 워낙 꼬꼬마였던 저는 늘상 삼국지 2랑만 놀고 있었고 그 사이에 윈도우가 깔리고 컴퓨터가 바뀌면서 삼국지 2 -> 삼국지 6라는 산업 혁명에 버금가는 혁명적 변화를 겪었습니다. 게임으로 입문해서 그 사이에 이미 평범한 초딩 삼덕으로 빠져있던 저에게 그 산업혁명은 분명 증기기관에 버금가는 축복이었을 것입니다. 물론 삼국지 6 CD는 더 이상 읽어지지 않을 정도로의 소비를 당한지 오래입니다. CD에게 애도를. 괜히 집중되지 않는 하루 일과를 마치고 생각없이 마우스를 깔짝거리던 현황이 사진의 상황입니다. 왜 갑자기 장각이 통일을 했다면 어땠을까라는 괴랄한 생각부터 시작한 결과물이죠. 워낙 오래전에 발매된 게임이지만 나름 깊이가 있었는지 아직도 게임을 하면서 겪어보지 못했던 생소한 이벤트들의 유무도 확인하고 소소하게 즐기는 중입니다. 가령 '의협' 꿈을 가진 장수는 절대 등용 불가하다고 알고 있었는데 관우를 포로로 두던 참에 장각으로 등용에 성공했다던가, 순욱에게 회견을 걸었더니 천공장군에게 하는 말이 역적 하진에게 잡혀있는 천자를 구해드려야 한다고 아무래도 윈도우가 이 프로그램을 지원하지 않을 때까지 삼국지 6는 제 컴퓨터마다 백업되어서 옮겨다닐 것 같은 기분이네요. 처음 구매했던 게임이 삼국지6였던 걸로 기억하는데, 덕분에 저에게는 매우 특별한 작품. 저 역시 3나 5보다는 2를 훨씬 많이 즐겼고, 최고의 작품을 꼽으라면 2, 6, 9 이렇게 3개 뽑습니다. OST도 5가 유명하긴 한데 게임의 BGM이란 측면에서는 6가 최고였다고 생각합니다. 5는 너무 웅장해서 BGM보다는 독립적인 음악으로 더 어울리지 않나 싶거든요.
