1. 전 교통사고 트라우마가 있어서 운전을 못합니다. 아니 결혼전까진 조수석에 앉지도 못했습니다. 조수석에만 앉아도 심장이 빨리 뛰거나 숨이 가빠졌거든요. 다행히 아내님이 운전을 잘해서 아이들을 데리고 놀러가거나, 여행을 갈때 아내님이 운전을 하십니다. 2. 기존 차는 14년식 소형 SUV였는데 모든 것이 아날로그였습니다. 시동도 차키를 꽂고 돌리는... 아! 속도계는 디지털이더군요. 속도계는.. 이때에는 현기차에 대해 불신감이 커서 쉐보레를 구입했었죠. 3. 아이가 둘이 되니....소형 SUV로는 트렁크 공간이 한없이 모자라더군요. 웨건에 아이들 짐에, 어른들 짐에..실제 어른들 짐은 10%도 안되지만요. 결국 차를 바꾸게 되었는데.. 4. 가성비를 고려하니, 선택지는 몇개가 되지 않더군요. 현대의 싼타페/기아의 쏘렌토/르노삼성의 QM6/쌍용의 G4 렉스턴 그중에서 현대의 싼타페와 기아의 쏘렌토가 눈에 들어오더군요. 이유는... 3열 추가가 가능하다. (7인승 가능) 3열 추가는 간혹 모시는 장인/장모님과 저의 부모님 때문이었습니다. 아이둘에 어르신 두분을 모시면 소형 SUV로는 답이 안나오더군요. 그리고, 최신 사양의 안전 및 편의 기능이 들어가 있다. 트렁크 공간이 넓다. 정도가 되겠네요. QM6나 렉스턴은 최신사양의 편의 기능은 아니더군요. 5. 선택 제가 운전은 못하지만 차에 대한 것은 어느 정도 알고 있었습니다. 그래서 차량의 종류나 옵션은 제가 결정하게 되었구요. 선택은 현대의 싼타페 였습니다. 우선 현대의 AS망이 우리나라에서 가장 촘촘한게 가장 컸습니다. 디자인도 취향 저격이었구요. 그리고, 옵션의 기준은 와이프로 잡았습니다. 운전을 오래해도 괜찮은가? 운전자에 대한 배려가 있는가? 최신 기술 (HDA, SCC, 서라운드 뷰등)은 어느 정도 적용 되었는가? 최종적으로 싼타페 TM 19년식 7인승 가솔린 2.0T 인스퍼레이션에 크렐 옵션 (서라운드뷰, 후측방 모니터 포함)만 넣었습니다. 색상은 첫째 딸이 골랐구요. 6. 그리고 차를 탁송받고 처음 타본날 솔직히 좀 놀랐습니다. 그동안 현기 불신하던게 미안해 지더군요. 뭐 아직 논란거리는 많지만 차 자체만 놓고 보면 솔직히 좋았습니다. 편의 기능이나 안전 기능도 와이프가 엄청 좋아하더군요. 운전하기가 엄청 편하다구요. 7. 그리고... 아내를 만나고 조수석에는 편하게 앉게된 이후, 어느 정도 트라우마가 사라졌는지 운전을 해볼까? 하는 생각이 들었습니다. 약 17년만에 든 생각이었습니다. 허허... 아마 차량의 최신 기술이 주행에 도움을 많이 주는 것도 한몫했으리라 봅니다. 그래서, 시간 여유가 될때 운전면허에 도전 해볼까 합니다. (개발자라 시간 여유가 될지는 모르지만 ㅠㅠ) 지금도 운전석에 앉는 생각을 하면 좀 두렵지만...해볼까 합니다. 최근 현대기아 자동차의 차량은 상품성이 정말 좋죠.
더군다나 자국 기업이다 보니 정비망이나 선택지도 장난 아니게 넓구요.
이제 다른 회사의 차량을 구매하는 것은 합리가 아니라 감성적인 면을 보고 사는 것에 가깝게 됐습니다.
그래서 르노나 쉐보레 같은 회사들이 좀 힘내서 경쟁구도로 갔으면 좋겠는데 삽질만 하는 게 안타깝네요.
제네시스도 경쟁력을 키워서 벤츠코리아가 양심없는 짓 좀 그만하게 될 날이 기대됩니다.
