진작부터 올려야지 올려야지 하다가 드디어 올라갑니다. 사진이 과연 잘 올라갈지. 작년 2월 초, 3박4일간 홋카이도를 다녀왔습니다. 블로그엔 기~~~~~~~~~인 후기를 적어두긴 했지만 한 번 묶어서 써보도록 하겠습니다. 원체 투머치토커인지라 줄이고 줄여도 길게 나올 것 같습니다. 저는 해외여행 경험이 많지 않습니다. 국내여행조차도 친구들과 엠티 스타일로 1,2박 정도나 하는 게 고작이었어요. 처음으로 해외 나가본 것도 여행이 아닌 출장이었습니다. 그러다가 좋은 기회를 얻어 스코틀랜드에 한 번 다녀온 적이 있었고, 다음 해에는 친구의 제의로 후쿠오카를 짧게 다녀왔습니다. 아무리 친한 친구여도 각자의 취향이 있고 (또 제가 유독 까탈스럽고 호불호가 강합니다.) 그냥 온전히 나만의 여행을 해보면 어떨까? 하는 생각을 하게 됐습니다. 그래서 꼭 한 번 직접 다녀오고 싶었던 아사히야마 동물원을 목적지로 해서 여행을 다녀오게 됐습니다. 그렇게 혼자 처음으로 잡은 여행이 이 홋카이도 여행이었습니다. 그런데 거의 3개월 전에 여행 계획을 잡아뒀더니 기다리는 동안 너무 근질근질하더군요. 그걸 못 이기고 12월에 유후인을 충동적으로 짤막하게 다녀와서, 이 여행은 혼자 떠난 두 번째 여행이 되었습니다. 그래도 한 번 다녀오고 나니까 일정을 어떻게 짜야 좋을지 조금 감이 오긴 했습니다만, 항공권이고 호텔이고 다 잡아놓은 상황에 어찌됐던 버킷 리스트에 담아둔 아사히야마 동물원은 찍고 와야 하는 상황이었습니다. 어쨌든 정말 여행 초보가 짠 일정인지라, 말이 3박4일이지 사실상 이틀짜리 여행입니다. 고작 3박4일짜리 여행 가면서 첫날 오후 비행기가 말이 됩니까 흑흑. 이 뒤로는 무조건 오전 비행기에 가는 날, 오는 날은 어차피 거의 죽는 날이니 최소 5일 이상은 다녀오기로 마음먹었습니다. 그런데 이번 2월말에 홋카이도 가는 건 고작 4박으로 다녀오기로 했네요. 그래도 나름 짧은 시간에 비해 효율적으로 짜두긴 했습니다. 그럼 긴 서론을 마무리하고 여행 이야기로 들어가보도록 하겠습니다. 제2터미널이 개장한 뒤긴 하지만, 이 여행은 아시아나를 타고 가서 제1터미널을 이용했습니다. 아무래도 음식은 마티나 라운지가 괜찮습니다.  짧은 노선이지만 기내식이 나옵니다. 맛은 별로입니다. 두껍지도 않은 고기인데 부드럽지도 않습니다. 그래도 케이크는 맛있었습니다.  일본 입국수속을 마치고 공항 지하에 있는 jr역으로 내려가 티켓을 구입했습니다. 다음 날 일찍 아사히카와로 이동할 생각이었는데 티켓이 매진이네요. 출발 시간을 약간 늦췄는데, 출발시간을 늦추는 바람에 오전 펭귄 산책은 못 보게 되어 예정을 좀 변경해야할 상황입니다.  삿포로 역에서 제법 먼 곳에 있는 호텔이라 택시를 타고 숙소로 이동했습니다. 아무리 눈 축제 기간이라지만 20만원짜리 방인데 캐리어 펴놓기도 힘든 사이즈입니다. 일본 호텔 방이 작다작다 했지만 이렇게까지 작을 줄이야 으으.  뷰 자체가 좋다고 말할 수 있는 위치는 아니지만, 하얗게 눈 쌓인 풍경은 좋네요.  눈축제는 해가 진 이후에도 구경할 수 있어서 바로 카메라만 들고 길을 나섭니다. 나카지마 공원에서 스스키노를 거쳐 삿포로 오도리 공원쪽으로 이동합니다. 가는 길에 얼음 미끄럼틀이 있습니다. 저도 한 번 타보고 싶다는 생각이 들었지만, 아이들만 타고 있군요. 어른이라고 얼음 미끄럼틀 타고 싶지 않을 쏘냐!! ㅠ.ㅠ  얼음으로 비늘 묘사하는 게 놀랍습니다. 처음 봤을 땐 엄청 놀라웠는데, 장식된 거 보면 기본기인 것 같군요.  삿포로의 풍경. 이 이후로 홋카이도 이곳저곳을 가보고 있는데 이 사진을 다시 보니 확실히 대도시는 대도시다 싶습니다.  저멀리 유명한 TV탑이 보입니다.  초메마다 컨셉이 있는데 이 초메는 바로 먹거리 부스입니다. 저 핫바와 소시지 참 맛있게 생겼네요.  눈 조각들이 굉장히 많고 사진으로도 많이 담았지만 인상적인 것만 올려보겠습니다.   이 분야는 잘 모르지만 미쿠 정도는 들어봤습니다. 공식인지 바리에이션인지 모르겠지만 어쨌든 스노우미쿠 컨셉입니다. 저 눈 위의 피규어는 조명까지 맞춰져 있는 거 보니 주최측에서 가져다 놓은 거겠죠? 누가 사진을 위해 가져왔는지도 모르겠습니다. 일부러 가져온 거라면 장르를 떠나 사진에 대한 이해가 대단한 사람이라는 생각이 들었습니다.  이렇게 몰려들어 찍고 있습니다. 막상 저 위의 사진도 저 대열 속에 들어가서 찍고 나온 거라, 저 인원 중에 마니아들도 있을 거고 그냥 어디선가 본 적 정도만 있는 사람도 있을 거고, 뭔진 모르지만 찍고 보는 사람들도 있겠죠.  가장 흔히 볼 수 있는 캐릭터는 미니언즈였습니다. 미니언즈는 영 취향이 아니어서 서글펐는데 그 와중에 마주친 반가운 마리오!  다시 숙소 쪽으로 걸어들어옵니다. 저녁을 먹어야 할텐데 흠. 이곳은 아까 숙소에서 내다봤던 이자카야가 있는 길입니다. 여기를 갈까 어떨까 고민하다가, 작은 라멘집을 찾았습니다. 이곳에서 맛있게 라면을 먹었으나, 추운 곳을 오래 걷다 들어오니까 갑자기 카메라 안팎에 성에가 끼더군요. 카메라가 이렇게 사망하나 매우 겁이 났습니다. 시간이 좀 지나니 괜찮아지긴 했지만 카메라가 회복된 건 숙소에 돌아간 뒤입니다. 그래서 라멘 사진은 없군요.   홋카이도에선 역시 삿포로 클래식이죠. 캬하하. 홋카이도 밖에서도 팔았으면 좋겠습니다.  이튿날. 역시 여행하면 조식이죠. 부지런히 조식을 먹습니다. 원래 예정대로라면 일찍 나가야했으나, 기차표 예매에 실패해 여유 있게 출발하게 됐습니다. 아사히카와 일정이 있고, 기념문학관에도 방문할 예정이라 아사히카와 출신 유명 소설가 미우라 아야코의 소설책을 들고 왔는데, 여유 시간 동안 큰 즐거움이 됐습니다. 이동 중에도 그랬고요.  기차역에 이동했습니다. 초점이 똭!하고 꽂힌 분은 전혀 모르는 사람인데 왜 저 분 등에 저렇게 똭!박혔는지 잘 모르겠습니다.  기차를 타고 눈쌓인 홋카이도의 들판을 달립니다. 이렇게 눈이 한가득 쌓인 들판을 직접 보는 건 처음입니다. 겨울의 강원도를 가보긴 했지만 탁 트인 곳이 아니라 산이었으니까요. 이 풍경을 바라보는 것만으로도 어찌나 재미있던지. 이런 게 여행의 묘미가 아닌가 싶었습니다.   아사히카와 역에 도착. 캐리어는 코인로커에 맡긴 뒤, 버스를 타고 아사히야마 동물원에 도착했습니다. 걷는 게 만만치 않습니다. 경사로인데 너무 미끄러워요. 저는 벌벌 떨면서 걷는데 다른 사람들은 어떻게 저리 잘 걷는지.   펭귄관입니다. 곧 바깥에서 황제펭귄 친구들을 만날 거라 후후.  점심 먹을 시간이 지나서 동물원 식당에서 라면을 먹었습니다. 라면 참 자주 먹네요. 김 위에 귀여운 그림이 그려져 있습니다. 눈 가득한 풍경을 바라보며 먹는 라면은 참 맛있더군요.  동물에 대해 이것저것 설명하면서 먹이주는데 도착하니 딱 끝났네요.  북극곰. 귀여워 보이지만... 아주 무서운 녀석이죠.  펭귄 산책이 시작될 시간입니다. 좋은 위치에서 펭귄을 볼 수 있게 줄을 서봅니다.  한참을 기다린 끝에 펭귄이 옵니다. 앞에 있는 친구가 이렇게 배를 대고 드러누우니 사람들의 환호가 울려 퍼집니다. 둘러싼 사람들을 무서워해서 이렇게 줄줄이 가는 거라고 하는데, 환호 받으니까 계속 반복하던데 알고 하는 건가 싶기도 하더라고요.  막 제멋대로 오던 녀석들이 유턴 코스가 되니까 갑자기 일사불란하게 줄을 맞춰서 가기 시작합니다.  한 번 더 보고 싶어서 막 뛰어서 코스 제일 끝 쪽으로 이동했더니 다행히 자리가 있더군요.   랫서팬더도 보고.   호랑이를 봤습니다. 초점을 자동으로 맞추면 창살에 초점이 맞춰지기 쉬워서 수동으로 바꾸고 뷰파인더로 호랑이를 보고 있었습니다. 그런데 줌을 한껏 당기고 있는데 호랑이가 정확하게 절 응시합니다. 거리도 좀 있었고, 창살 때문에 위험하지 않다는 걸 알고 있습니다. 저 호랑이가 정확히 나를 보고 있구나, 분명 뷰파인더로 보고 있었음에도 마치 눈이 직접 마주친 것 마냥 몸이 굳더군요. 몇 초간 절 바라보다가 눈을 끔뻑 감더니 몸을 돌려 우리 깊숙이 들어갑니다. 정말 압도적인 느낌이더군요. 야생에서 마주친다면 도망갈 엄두도 못 낼 것 같습니다.     다시 아사히카와 역으로 도착. 도미인 아사히카와를 예약해뒀는데, 거리가 아주 가깝진 않지만 걸어가기로 했습니다. 눈이 얼어붙은 위로 캐리어를 끌기 쉽지 않더군요. 단단하게 언 것 같아도 캐리어 바퀴는 눈을 긁고 파고듭니다. 게다가 횡단보도는 눈이 녹다 말아서 몹시 미끄럽더군요. 거기다가 제법 큼직한 카메라도 들고 있고요.  그러다 결국 횡단보도 앞에서 제대로 엉덩방아를 찧고야 말았습니다. 진짜 공중에 붕 날라서 엉덩이로 떨어졌습니다. 본능적으로 카메라부터 감싸느라 몸은 무방비로 떨어지고 말았죠. 꼬리뼈를 딱 찍혔는데 진짜 너무 아픕니다. 근데 횡단보도 중간이라 황급히 일어나서 간신히 길 바깥으로 나옵니다. 저 멀리 호텔이 보여서 호텔까지는 열심히 걸어갑니다. 방은 그래도 좀 넓습니다. 창문을 열어보니 평범한 작은 도시의 풍경인데도 눈과 이렇게 어우러지니 멋집니다. 1시 방향에 위치한 횡단보도가 바로 제가 넘어진.. 그곳입니다.   넘어진 곳이 너무 아픕니다. 꼬리뼈만 아픈 게 아니라 다리까지 아픈 게 타고 내려오는 느낌입니다. 일단 누워서 검색을 해봤어요. 꼬리뼈 골절로요. 최악의 경우 현지 응급실에라도 가야될 수도 있으니까요. 검색을 해보니 꼬리뼈 골절이어도 당장 못 움직이는 건 아니고, 또 급하게 처치할 것도 없다고 하네요. 그냥 조심조심 움직여보고 한국 가서도 계속 아프면 골절일 가능성이 높고 아니면 타박상일 겁니다. 누워서 좀 안정을 취하다 보니 해가 떨어졌습니다. 아무리 아파도 저녁은 먹으러 나가야죠.  나가자마자 길 건너 편의점에 가서 아이젠을 샀습니다. 진작 이랬어야 했는데. 전날도 라멘집 앞에서 심하게 발라당 한 번 했었거든요. 이런 동네면 당연히 편의점에 아이젠을 파는 것을. 넘어지고서야 깨달았습니다. 겨울에 홋카이도 가시는 분들은 꼭 도시형 아이젠을 미리 챙겨가시기 바랍니다. 저녁은 징기스칸. 홋카이도 양고기입니다. 유명한 아사히카와의 맛집, 다이코쿠야로 왔습니다.  맥주를 주문하는데 삿포로 클래식은 없고 기린만 있습니다.  첫 고기는 올려서 구워주고, 그 다음부터는 직접 구워 먹으면 됩니다. 야채는 리필이고요. 맛있게 먹고 아사히카와 구경을 나섭니다.   여기도 삿포로처럼 얼음 조각이 잔뜩인데, 삿포로보다 이곳 퀄리티가 더 좋더군요.  눈이 많이 내리기 시작합니다.  대략 JR역에서 2km 정도 되는 거리인데, 길은 얼고 꼬리뼈는 아프고 해서 한참을 걸은 끝에 도착한 토키와 파크입니다. 여기서도 눈 축제가 있던데, 도착했을 때는 슬슬 마감하더군요. 캐릭터 눈조각들이 많은 덕분에, 짧지만 재미있게 구경을 하고 숙소로 도착했습니다.  도미인에서 무료로 제공하는 라면 느낌의 소바입니다. 라면 엄청 먹네요.  다음날 조식을 먹고, 아사히카와 역을 거쳐 미우라 아야코 기념문학관으로 이동합니다.  역 뒷편인데, 그야말로 설국입니다.  미우라 아야코 기념문학관에 도착했습니다. 소설 <빙점>으로 유명한 작가입니다. 그녀의 작품은 중복으로 번역된 걸 포함해 300편 이상 국내에 출간되었다고 합니다. 독실한 신도로서 개신교적 구원(이긴 합니다만 소설에서는 그렇게 종교색이 강하진 않습니다.)을 주제로 삼고 있기도 하고, 일본 우익에 반대하는 성향 덕분에 그토록 많이 소개된 건 아닐까 싶습니다. <빙점>이나 <(속)빙점>은 드라마 보는 느낌으로 읽다보면 매우 흥미롭게 읽을 수 있습니다. 홋카이도를, 그 중에서도 아사히카와를 배경으로 삼고 있고 기념 문학관이 위치한 외국수종견본림이 작품의 주요 무대인만큼 이곳을 찾기 전에 <빙점>을 읽는다면 좀 더 의미있는 여행이 될 수 있겠습니다.   문학관에서 커피 한 잔을 마셨습니다.  작품의 주요 무대인 외국수종견본림에 들어서기로 했습니다. 눈이 깊게 쌓여 있습니다. 많이 쌓인 곳은 성인 남자 허벅지까지도 푹푹 빠지는 정도입니다.  일단 산책로로 보이는 곳까진 올라갔는데, 여기저기서 무게를 못 이기고 나무 위에 쌓인 눈이 떨어지는 소리가 상당히 요란하게 들립니다. 올라오는 길도 그렇고 뭔가 위험한 느낌이라 그냥 여기까지 올라온 거에만 만족하고 돌아가기로 합니다. 나온 뒤에야 알게 된 건데, 겨울에는 출입금지 지역이었습니다. 일본어로 된 팻말이 있었지만, 일부러 읽으려고 마음 먹으면 읽을 수야 있지만 아무 생각 없이 눈에 들어오는 글들이 자연스럽게 해석하는 수준은 아니라 못 보고 지나쳤던 것이었습니다. 어째 위험한 것 같더라니.   아사히카와 역까지 걸어 돌아가는 길입니다. 눈을 밀어둬서 저렇게 높이 쌓인 거긴 하겠지만, 차 높이와 비교해보면 진짜 얼마나 눈이 많이 오는 곳인지 새삼 느껴집니다.  눈이 정말 펑펑 쏟아집니다. 짧은 여행에서 한국에서 몇 년간 맞을 눈보다 더 많이 맞고 가는 것 같습니다.  기차를 타고 다시 삿포로에 도착했습니다. 삿포로는 모처럼 따뜻한 날이라고 하더군요. 춥지 않은 건 좋은데 눈이 녹으면서 길이 질척질척해 캐리어 끌고 다니기는 고역이었습니다. 일단 숙소에 짐을 풀었습니다.  삿포로역과 이어진 쇼핑몰에 있는 스시집에 대기를 걸어뒀는데, 진짜 웨이팅이 끝도 없는 지경이라 밖으로 나왔습니다. 시계탑과 먹거리 코너를 구경했는데, 스키 점프 이벤트가 있더군요. 공중에서 어떻게들 그렇게 돌고 도는지.     드디어 도착한 네무로 하나마루입니다. 가성비 좋은 스시집이라고 하는데, 아무리 눈 축제 기간의 토요일 저녁이라지만 대기표 뽑은지 3시간 10분만에 들어갔습니다. 기다린 게 아까워서 손절도 못하고. 한 바퀴 바깥을 돌고 왔다지만 시간이 참 아까웠습니다.     초밥 맛은 좋았어요. 가격은 우리나라와 큰 차이 없는 느낌이었습니다. 이렇게 기다리지 않고 먹었다면 상당히 만족했을 것 같습니다만, 이토록 오래 기다리고 만족하기는 어렵겠죠. 타워 전망대에 올라가서 삿포로의 야경을 구경했습니다. 아주 반듯한 구획을 가지고 있는 도시입니다.   이번 여행의 마지막 밤은 삿포로 클래식과 하이볼 한 캔씩입니다.  아침에 일어났더니 오늘도 눈이 많이 내리는군요. 비행기가 잘 뜨려나?  오늘도 조식. 맛있었습니다. 사진에는 없는 냉우동이 있었는데, 겨울에 웬 냉우동? 하면서 떴는데 정말 맛있더군요.  아사히야마 동물원에서 업어온 펭귄 친구들입니다. 집 TV 옆을 지키고 있습니다.  신치토세 공항으로 이동 중입니다. 아마 홍보를 위해 동물 인형들을 이렇게 전시해뒀나 봅니다. 돈 많이 벌어서 저거 다 사고 싶다. 동물 인형을 참 좋아라 합니다.  라운지에 먹을 건 많지 않은데 술은 못 본 게 많습니다. 비행이 길면 좀 이것저것 즐겨볼만 한데, 시간도 이르고 비행도 짧아서 그냥 딱 하나만, 그것도 온더락으로 맛 정도나 보고 말았습니다.  눈 때문에 출발이 좀 지연됐습니다. 그래도 내리는 양에 비해서 빨리 수습하고 이륙하더군요.  하늘 위에서 바라보는 풍경이 멋집니다.  이번에도 기내식. 쇠고기 스튜입니다. 저 옆에 노란 건 당연히 으깬 감자라고 생각했었는데, 이탈리아식 옥수수 요리라고 합니다. 전반적으로 무난하게 먹을만했는데 이번에도 케이크가 맛있더군요.  여담으로 비행기 옆자리에 앉은 사람이 모 보이그룹 멤버였습니다. 전원이 탑승해있더군요. 어찌어찌하다가 아이돌이라는 걸 알긴 했는데, 매우 피곤해 보이기도 하고 비행기는 사적인 공간이니 말을 걸거나 하진 않았습니다. 사실 이 그룹은 잘 모르는 가수기도 했는데, 좋아하는 가수였다면 실례를 무릅쓰고 사인 정도는 요청하지 않았을까 싶네요. 출국 게이트 나오는데 커다란 카메라를 든 팬분들이 입구를 가득 지키고 있더군요. 요 얘기는 적당히 생략하겠습니다. 이렇게 짧은 3박4일 여행을 마쳤습니다. 첫 홋카이도 방문이고 짧아서 충분히 만끽하지도 못했지만, 정말 좋은 시간이었습니다. 이 뒤로 5월, 10월 두 차례 홋카이도를 다시 찾았습니다. 일정도 갈수록 길어졌네요. 다가오는 2월에도 비행기와 숙박을 예약해두고 여행날만 기다리고 있습니다. 자세한 여행기는 블로그 http://blog.naver.com/philequiem 에 소개되어 있습니다. 삿포로 여행기는 https://blog.naver.com/philequiem/221207334713 로 들어오시면 됩니다. 나름 블로그이긴 하지만 그냥 자기기록에 가까워서 볼만하지는 않을 거에요. 짧게 적어보려고 했는데 사진 고르는 것도 텍스트 적는 것도 분량 조절에 실패했습니다. 다른 여행기도 이렇게 올려보려고 하는데, 다음엔 아예 편을 나누거나 더 과감하게 줄여보도록 하겠습니다. 긴 글 읽어주셔서 감사합니다.
