안녕하세요, 42번입니다. 혼자만의 생각입니다. 지극히 주관적입니다. 언제나 그렇듯, 잡생각이고요. :) 최근 종영을 맞이한 무한도전과 런닝맨의 전 에피소드를 어찌저찌 정주행 마쳐가는 시점에 이에 대한 감상을 적어볼까 합니다. 먼저 언급하지 않을 수 없는 것은 유재석입니다. 그는 자타가 공인하는 국민MC이자 대표 예능인이죠. 두 프로그램 모두 유재석표 예능이라는 공통 분모를 가진 작품이지요. 허나, 두 프로에서 유재석의 롤은 조금 달라보입니다. 그를 비롯한 멤버들을 조잡하게나마 농구에 비추어 설명해 보려 합니다. 먼저, 한국 예능의 신기원 무한도전입니다. 1. 퓨어 포인트가드 : 유재석 무한도전 멤버들은 통제하기 힘들고, 초반을 보면 예능인으로서의 역량도 뭐 사실 그만그만했지요. 그들을 잘 통제하고 조정해서 웃음이라는 목표를 향해 벡터를 부여하는 것이 유재석의 무도에서의 역할입니다. 그리고 그는 그 역을 정말 잘 수행해 낼 수 있는 역량이 있는 예능인이죠. 그는 멤버들에게 이리 저리 패스를 주고 작전을 지시하며 림을 공격합니다. 피딩도 좋고 파고 들었다가 빼주는 킥아웃도 일품입니다. 멤버들이 주춤할 때는 스스로 외곽도 꽂아줄 수 있는 전천후 선수죠. 문제는 이러한 형태가 그에게 많은 부담을 지게끔 한다는 것입니다. '1인자 : 그 외 멤버'라는 구도는 사실, 무한도전에서 굉장히 많은 시간동안 굳어져왔습니다. 1.5인자, 2인자를 자처한 박명수도 자칭이 그렇다 뿐, 결국 유재석 아래의 멤버 중 1인이죠. 이는 멤버들 스스로도 저항감 없이 마구 드러내고 있습니다. 무도의 멤버들은 나름 슬럼프를 겪었습니다. 정형돈, 정준하, 박명수, 하하, 노홍철까지 짧게는 몇몇 특집이나 길게는 6년의 일조권 침해에 이르기까지 기량의 부침을 모두 겪었죠. 허나 그럴 여유조차 없었던 멤버라고 하면 바로 유재석입니다. 그가 폼이 훅 떨어졌다면 우리는 무도에게 굉장히 일찍 작별을 고해야 하지 않았을까 합니다. 2. 듀얼 가드 : 노홍철, 정형돈 이렇게 팀의 알파이자 오메가 역할을 수행하며 긴 시간을 버티는 것은 아무리 유재석이 뛰어난 예능인이어도 쉬운 일이 아니었을 것입니다. 퓨어 포인트가드 유재석, 웃음의 사령관에게는 다행히 적절한 백업멤버가 있었습니다. 무도 초반에는 노홍철과 하하, 하하의 공백기간 이후로는 정형돈이 성장하여 합세하면서 유재석의 부담을 조금이나마 덜어주지 않았나 하는 생각입니다. 노홍철과 정형돈은 유재석이 없는 프로그램의 메인 MC 경력도 착실히 쌓으며 진행이나 쇼 제어에 어느 정도 기량을 보여줍니다. 물론 유재석이 리딩을 할 때에는 캐치 앤 슛이나 큰 형들이 던져주는 킥아웃을 여지 없이 외곽포로 연결하며 크게 점수를 내주기도 하죠. 이들로 인해서 유재석은 본인이 없는 상황에서의 부담은 물론, 함께 있을 때도 얼마간의 호흡을 나눌 수 있었습니다. 이들은 유재석이 없는 상황에서 압도적인 존재감을 뽐냅니다. 유재석의 리딩 없이도 페너트레이션이나 외곽슛으로 언제든 득점을 뽑아낼 수 있는 기량이 있지요. 다른 멤버들은 득점 상황에서 이 둘에게 아낌 없이 킥아웃을 주기도 하고, 이들의 패스를 잘 받아 소화하기도 하면서 이들에 대한 의존을 드러냅니다. 무한도전의 문제는 이 둘이 중도에 하차하면서 본격적으로 시작되지 않았나 합니다. 3. 센터 : 박명수 박명수는 큰 형이자 가장 예능 경력이 긴 선배로서 팀의 중심을 이루어야 하는 사람입니다. 그리고 박명수 개인의 기량은 출중한 편이지요. 다만, 그것은 유재석의 리딩이 존재하는 상황에 한정되는 기량입니다. 박명수는 혼자 3, 40점을 때려박아주는 스코어러는 아닙니다. 그러나 유재석의 피딩은 잘 받아넣습니다. 피딩이 잘 들어가는 날에는 40이 아니라 5, 60점도 넣습니다. 그러나 유재석이 잠시 벤치에 앉거나, 수비에 묶이면? 골밑에서 그의 존재감은 극히 희미해집니다. 더구나 에이징 커브를 확실하게 보이며 노쇠화하는 기량, 올드스쿨에서 벗어나지 못하는 플레이스타일, 본업에 집중하지 못하도록 하는 각종 취미 혹은 부업... 결정적으로 본인이 수행해야 하는 롤(악역)과 전혀 맞지 않는 성격(순딩, 소심) 등, 유재석을 떠나면 장점보다 단점이 많이 부각되는 선수입니다. 하지만 언뜻언뜻 드러나는 본인의 성격마저도 득점으로 연결시켜 큰 웃음을 주는 센스는 거성이라는 칭호가 아깝지만은 않다는 생각이 듭니다. 4. 스윙맨 : 하하 하하는 무도 초반 만년 벤치였던 정형돈 대신 2옵션 탑 가드 정도는 되었다고 생각합니다. 유재석의 리딩 부담을 죽마고우 노홍철과 함께 어느 정도 덜어주었었죠. 그가 공익근무로 공백을 가진 후 복귀했을 때, 어떤 내외부적인 요인이 작용했는지 그는 리딩의 역할을 떠나서 루틴 스코어러로 포변을 합니다. 하하 역시 유재석의 리딩에 따라서 작전을 수행하며 점수를 따냅니다. 다만 스윙맨에게 요구되는 폭발적인 득점이나 판세를 헤집는 크랙의 기질은 좀처럼 보여주지 못합니다. 그래도 팀에서 계속 2~3옵션 정도의 득점을 해주기에 그는 소중한 존재입니다. 심지어 단신에도 불구하고 스윙맨을 넘어서 때로는 코너맨으로, 스트레치 포워드로 큰 형들의 부진을 메꿀 때도 많은 살림꾼이기도 합니다. 큰 형들 역시 유재석의 심복이자 팀의 중요한 멤버로 하하의 존재감을 인정하는 모습이죠. 5. 빅맨 : 정준하 정준하는 이 팀에서 득점 지분은 극히 적습니다. 림프로텍팅이나 스크린 등의 역할로 팀에 공헌하는 멤버랄까요. 그의 리액션이나 그를 소재로 한 공격이 곧잘 웃음의 물꼬를 트곤 합니다. 하지만 정준하에게는 아쉬운 점이 많습니다. 박명수와 더불어 팀의 정신적 지주를 맡아야 마땅하나, 압도적으로 많은 턴오버와 낮은 득점으로 인해 다른 동생들에게 그런 존재감을 드러내기는 힘든 상황이죠. 그래도 유재석이 피딩을 잘 주는 날이면 깜짝 놀랄 만큼의 득점을 하기도 합니다. 문제는 유재석의 짐을 나눠 져야 할 그가 유재석이라는 어미새의 먹이 보급을 기다리는 새끼새로 십수년을 보냈다는 데에 있습니다. 심지어 동생들 못지 않게 맘고생도 많이 시키면서 말이죠. 이게 그에게 가장 아쉬운 부분일지도 모릅니다. 6. 벤치 롤플레이어 : 길, 전진, 조세호, 양세형 초반 무한도전은 FA 영입 시장에서 재미를 보았다고는 하기 힘듭니다. 독보적인 롤로 한 자리를 잘 차지했던 전진은 경기외적인 갈등에 엮였고, 군 입대 이후 복귀하지 못합니다. 길은 영입 이후 줄전시간을 먹어주지도, 득점을 올려주지도 못하고 그냥 로테이션에 한 자리 먹어주는 것만이 역할이었습니다. 풋볼에서 천재였던 친구를 데려왔으나 농구에선 죽쑤는 격이었달까요. 그나마 어느 정도 사람 구실 하려나 싶은 찰나에 대형사고를 치고 팀에 먹만 잔뜩 칠하게 되었습니다. 시즌 말미에 급히 영입된 임대선수 조세호와 양세형은 그래도 나름의 구실을 잘 해주었습니다. 조세호는 정준하 급의 스크린과 림프로텍팅에 점수도 짭짤하게 내주었고, 양세형은 돈-노 두 스코어러가 빠진 구멍에서 나름의 플레이스타일로 어느 정도 득점에 일조했지요. 하지만 그들은 너무 늦게 합류했고, 시즌이 허무하게 종료되었습니다. 7. 트위너 : 황광희 노홍철의 출장정지와 정형돈의 시즌아웃으로 인해 급히 수혈된 황광희... 하지만 그는 이도 저도 아무것도 해준 것이 없는 선수였습니다. 공격이건 수비건 기량은 바닥이었고, 다른 멤버와의 호흡도 잘 맞는 편이 아니었습니다. 아예 농구를 모르는 이와 같았죠. 어쩔 수 없이 그를 데리고 뛰어야 했던 멤버들, 특히 유재석에게 황광희는 큰 부담이었을 것입니다. 보기 드문 유재석의 리얼 빡침을 이끌어낸 장본인이죠. 그래도 한 두 번은 선방한 날이 있습니다만, 종합적으로 무도 팀 역사상 최저 기량의 선수라고 생각합니다. 8. 코치 : 김태호 김태호는 독보적인 전략전술로 코트를 지배하는 코치입니다. 그의 머리와 손끝에서 이 게임의 패러다임이 바뀌었지요. 명 코치로 꼽히는 많은 이들의 출세작은 그가 연출한 무한도전 에피소드에서 탄생했습니다. 그에게는 그의 작전을 100%, 120% 플레이로 연결해주는 유재석이라는 든든한 리딩가드가 있었습니다. 애당초 좋은 멤버들로 시작하지 못했던 무도였지만, 우승을 거듭하며 기존 멤버들은 어느 정도 발전을 이루기도 했죠. 문제는 그 우승과정에서의 전술과 작전이 너무 굳어져 버린 것입니다. 유재석 원맨팀이라 불러도 헛소리라고만은 할 수 없는 그 구도는 결국 깨지지 못했습니다. 더구나 불행히도 그는 선수를 보는 눈이 그렇게 좋지만은 않았습니다. 후발주자로 영입된 선수들은 기대만큼의 활약보다는 리더 유재석과 코치 김태호에게 큰 부담을 주는 경우가 많았죠. 유재석과 김태호는 높아져버린 구단과 팬들의 기대, 멤버들이 주는 부담을 온몸으로 막아내다가 결국 지쳐버린 게 아닐까 합니다. 9. 총평 그 누구도 넘볼 수 없었던 위대하고 찬란한 왕조였으나, 애써 키워낸 주전 선수들의 이탈과 영입 선수들의 트롤링, 무엇보다 팀의 기둥 유재석과 코치 김태호의 피로로 인해 씁쓸하게 시즌을 종료한 팀. 그렇다 한들, 앞으로 방송 역사상 이런 팀이 다시 나타날 수 있을 지는 의문이죠. 스토브리그를 거쳐 새로운 모습으로 다시 찾아올 수 있다는 희망을 남겨준 팀이기도 합니다. 특히, 유재석은 기량의 쇠퇴가 아니라 혹사로 인한 피로누적이므로, 그가 마음을 먹는다면 다시 한 번 팀의 기둥으로 부활의 엔진이 될 수도 있습니다. 그리고 구단이 개념있게 처신한다면 명코치 김태호도 다시 한 번 팀의 키를 잡을 수 있을 것이고요. 멸망한 스타워즈보다, 무한도전 시즌2가 훨씬 더 기대됩니다. 요즘 느끼는건데 진행 스타일도 올드하고 애드립도 별로고..
워낙 BQ와 자기관리가 좋아서 런닝맨 같은 원초적인 예능에선 아직도 재밌지만
무도가 재미없어진건 유재석을 비롯한 멤버들의 전체적인 기량 쇠퇴와 시대의 흐름이라고 생각합니다.
요즘 강호동처럼 큰틀은 잡아주고 일선에선 빠지는 스타일로 갈 필요가 있는데 이수근과 박명수의 차이가 워낙 크다보니 그것도 안되죠.
