이제 야비군도 끝나고 민방위를 받는 몸으로, 군대내에서 동성애자 관련된 기억이 있어 부족한 글로나마 남깁니다. 제가 상병 즈음. 어느 용사(그 당시 저희 부대에서 쓰인 호칭입니다.) 한명이 인권위(정확히 기억은 안납니다.)에 진정서를 제출했습니다. 자신이 동성애자라는 이유로 부대내에서 억압과 차별을 받고 있다고. 당연히 부대는 파전 뒤집듯 엎어졌고 사단에서 조사가 시작됩니다. 조사과정에서 확인된 사항은 1. 자신이 지휘관 면담과정에서 동성애자라 밝힘. 2. 지휘관은 비밀엄수 및 차별이 없을 것이라 약속. 3. 무난한 군생활 별 문제없는 군생황을 지속하고 있던 용사는 급작스레 진정서를 제출했습니다. 지휘관을 제외한 다른 누구도 관련사실을 알고 있지 않아 상급부대는 물론 몰랐고, 어느날 갑자기 메테오를 맞은 분위기였습니다. 조사가 계속 진행되어 1. 부대 내 지휘관을 제외하고는 아무도 모름 2. 조사과정에서 사람들이 알기 시작함. 까지 진행되자 군생활 오래하신 분들은 슬슬 의심하기 시작했습니다. 수많은 복무부적합 조기전역 사례를 봐온 저도 견적이 나오지만 입밖으로 말하기 힘든 그것. '아 우리 용사가 전역하고 싶은거구나...' 해당 용사에게는 소속을 바꿔주며 관련 기록에 대한 비밀엄수를 보장하지만 '이미 알려져서 어딜가나 힘들다' 는 주장을 시작하고, 곧 조기전역을 합니다. 이와 관련하여 관리부실로 지휘관 및 인사관련 라인들이 징계를 먹고 사단 인사참모는 국회에 출석하여 관련 내용에 대한 보고와 해명을 하게 됩니다. 물론 징계도 먹었죠. 인사참모님은 제가 정말 존경하던 분이라 어린마음에 동성애자들에 대해 몹시 분노했던 기억이 납니다. 지휘관 면담을 했던 안했던 무사히 전역한 동성애분들도 많습니다. 그 수가 얼마나 되는지 모르고 알아서도 안되구요. 동성애자 색출이라는 자극적인 제목만을 보았을 때 10년전보다 무언가 퇴보한 느낌같은 필링이 듭니다. 물론 군대의 특성상 지휘관의 성향에 따라 집단의 성향이 바뀌는 건 어쩔수 없지만, 발전이 항상 더디네염 항상 군대는 사회보다 10년 정도 뒤쳐진것 같아염.
