안녕하세요. 주말에는 재난 영화 판도라를 보았습니다. 영향 받고 싶지 않아 다른 평은 읽지 않고 씁니다. 스포 안 하고 간단하게 말씀드리자면 부산쪽에 원전이 있는데 그 원전이 터지려고 하는 그런 영화입니다. 이 얼마나 긴박한 상황입니까? 참고로 대통령은 김명민, 국무총리는 이경영 배우입니다. 근데 국무총리가 대통령 눈을 똑바로 쳐바보면서 훈계를 하듯 '개기는' 장면이 많이 나와요. 한국영화는 관료체계의 분위기와 의사소통에 대한 묘사를 거의 하지 못하는 특징이 있는데, 이 영화에서도 반복되고 있는 것입니다. 전문성을 가진 사람들, 중요한 결정을 하는 사람들이 등장할때에도 마찬가지입니다. 의견이 대립되는 경우에도 협치라든지, 눈치싸움, 정치적인 제스쳐는 찾아볼 수 없습니다. 그냥 초딩 반사놀이하는 것처럼 대사를 읊다가 악다구니를 쓰며 끝나요. 캐릭터를 확실히 부각시키기 위해서 눈을 치켜뜨면서 소리를 지르는거죠. 연기를 못하는 게 아닙니다. 다만 우리나라 상업 영화의 많은 캐릭터들은 안타깝게도 일종의 무대 소품이나 자동기계처럼 행동합니다. 요즘에는 훨씬 나아졌다고 생각했는데, '판도라'를 보니 그게 또 아닌 것 같습니다. 소리를 지른다는 말을 하니 생각나는데, 이 영화의 조연들도 너무 소리를 지릅니다. 한 명이 소리를 지르면 그 옆에 있던 다른 한 명이 또 소리를 지르고, 그 다음에는 여러명이 한꺼번에 소리를 지르는 식입니다. 귀가 아픕니다. 물론 감독이 시켜서 그런 것이겠지만요. 두시간을 훌쩍 넘어 짧다고 할 수 없는 상영시간인데, 과하지 않게 감정을 표현하고, 선을 넘는 부분은 적당히 추스르면서 재미를 만들어 갈 수는 없는 걸까요. 눈물 쏟게 만드는 극단적인 '최루성' 장면들이 있다는 것은 부정할 수 없을 것 같네요. 영화의 분위기도 비극적이고 초반부를 제외하고는 거의 유머를 찾아 볼 수 없습니다. 원전 폭발이라는 사고의 수위에 걸맞게 상당히 심각한 영화고, 중후반부부터는 전형적으로 신파적인 영화입니다. 사실 감독이 마음 먹고 신파로 만든 느낌이라서, 신파극이라며 비판하기에도 애매해요. 어쨌든 요즘 '신파'라는 말이 과잉된 감정표현, 작위적 상황 설정등을 지시하기 위해, 부정적으로 사용되고 있다는 점을 생각한다면, 이 영화는 신파에 성공했습니다. 하나 말씀드릴 수 있는 것은 남자라서 그런지 김영애님의 연기가 너무 가슴 아프고 슬펐다는 점입니다. 다만 영화의 분위기가 어두워서 흥행여부는 미지수인듯 싶습니다. 마지막으로 굉장히 중요한 점을 말씀 안 드렸는데 이 영화 재미가 없네요. 근데 왜 재미가 없는지, 저만 재미없는지 모르겠어요. 물론 제가 나이 먹고 활동영상에 무감각해진 것일 수도 있지만, 영화를 잘못 만들어서 그런 건지 구분이 안갑니다. 보통 이 정도 때려부수면 재미는 있던데, 왜 이렇게 재미가 없을까, 하는 생각을 많이 했습니다. 이미 더 끔찍한 더 슬픈 영화들이 많아서 그런 것인지, 현실이 더 자극적이고 방대한 것이라 느껴져서 그런 것인지 모르겠습니다. 확실한 것은 마지막 슬픈 장면들이 너무 길고 편집이 늘어지는 느낌을 받았다는 점입니다. 편집 실수라고 느껴질 정도로요. 제가 좋아하는 사람들이 이 영화를 보고 눈물을 흘리며 좋아해도 제가 그 자체로 좋아해줄 수는 없는, 그런 영화인 것 같습니다.
