 * 어차피 기사와 관련 TV인터뷰도 나간 마당에, 가리지 않고 쓰겠습니다. 학교에 누가 대자보를 붙였습니다. "학번제는 폭력입니다"라는 제목의 글이었습니다. 요컨대 강요는 나쁘고. 나이 어린 선배에게 존대를 쓰게 하는 것도 강요이기 때문에 학번제는 나쁘다-라는 글이었습니다. 그렇게 무리 있는 주장은 아니었지만, '나이 대우'를 해달라는 것도 저 주장에 따르면 강요가 아닌가 싶었고 학교내에서 학번제를 겪은 적도 없어서 관련한 글을 a4용지로 뽑아서 옆에 붙였습니다. https://docs.google.com/document/d/12s0DL-zbJsnRZlV9PP4iUjezWFF8RQ7_7n1vRMkzCmY/edit?usp=sharing 본문에도 써있지만 제 글을 세 줄 요악하면 1. 글의 취지에 공감하며, '모든 강요는 나쁘다'는 대전제에 동의합니다. 2. 그런데 대전제를 따르면, '나이에 따른 학번제 폐지 주장'은 또 하나의 강요인 '나이' 를 전제하므로 모순입니다. 3. 따라서 대전제를 따르면, 학번제를 포함한 모든 귄위주의 체제 전반에 대한 비판적 시각을 가져야 할 것입니다. 즉, '학번제도 나쁜데, 우리 의식 저변에 깔려있는 권위주의의 내면화를 먼저 경계해야 한다'라는 뻔한 이상론을 붙였습니다. (대학 대자보니까 이 정도 낙관적인 이상론도 허용되지 않나 하는 뻔뻔함으로!) 글의 말미에 제 메일주소를 써놓아서, 해당 학우랑 메일로 몇 번 투닥거리며 일이 정리되나 싶었습니다. 그런데 몇 일 후 모르는 사람에게 메일이 한 통 왔습니다. tv조선 박모 기자랍니다. " 이 부분을 뉴스화 시켜서 다루고 싶어" "인터뷰를 부탁"한답니다. 문제는, " 학번제의 유지, 존치에 대한 생각 등 쓰신 대자보와 관련해서 인터뷰를 부탁드려도" 되겠냐고 묻더군요. 뭔가 낌새가 이상해서 바로 거절했습니다. 제 글을 어떻게 읽으면 학번제의 유지나 존치에 대한 생각을 물을 수 있는지 궁금하더군요. 잊고지내다가 오늘 친구가 기사를 하나 보내줍니다. http://m.news.naver.com/read.nhn?mode=LSD&sid1=102&oid=448&aid=0000114368 저희 학교 대자보 얘기더군요.제 글도 영상에 나옵니다. 신입생이 "친구들과 학번제 폐지를 주장하는 대자보를 붙였"는데, "즉각 반박 대자보가 '나붙는' 등 교내 논쟁"이 벌어졌다고 썼더군요. 거기에 강릉 대학에서 "선배가 후배에게 길거리에서 옷을 벗긴 채 얼차려", 여대의 "후배들의 화장을 금지하는 행동지침" 등의 함께 엮어서 기사를 썼더군요. 아무리 생각해도 제가 학번제 폐지 자체를 반박한건 아닌데 말이죠. 기사 댓글에서는 벌써 학교 욕하고 수준 인증한다고 난리가 났구요. 인터뷰 안하길 참 다행이라고 생각하는 동시에 언론에 대해 다시 생각하는 계기가 되었습니다. 참 제가 글을 그렇게 어렵게 쓴것 같지 않고, 심지어 세줄요약!까지 친절하게 썼는데 이걸 편하게 자기들 입맞 맞춰서 가져다 저런식으로 활용한 것인지, 아니면 진짜로 제 글을 오독한 것인지 모르겠지만 어느 쪽이든 답답하네요. 언론에 관해 이런 일화야 워낙 많이 듣고 봤기에 새로울 것은 없지만, 직접 겪으니 또 기분이 남다릅니다.
