원래 하늘밑푸른초원이라는 아이디로 활동을 하다가 제 인격과 언행에 대해 자신이 없어진 적이 있어서 잠시 탈퇴했고 오늘부로 재가입합니다. 그 탈퇴한 동안 제가 절실히 느낀 많은 생각들을 여기다가 번호 매겨서 써봅니다. 제 의견의 제시가 중요한 게 아니라, 제 의견에 리플로 달린 홍차넷 여러분들의 말씀이 더 중요합니다. 이 글은.. 아래의 것들은 일반적인 사람이라면 누구나 알 법한 지식의 범주를 벗어나지 않은, 또한 일반론적인 이야기 투성들입니다. 하지만 저에게는 중요한 겁니다. 편의를 위해 아래부터 존댓말을 쓰지 않습니다. <창의성은 기존의 것을 배움으로부터 출발한다.> 1-1. 나는 '창의성', '새로움', .. 등등을 주장하는 사람들에 대해 일단 처음에는 비판적인 색안경을 끼고 보는 것이 사실이다. 내가 많이 심적으로 꼬인 사람이라 그렇다. 이런 류의 사람들 중에 상당수가 제시하는 '창의성', '새로움', ...은, 현실감이 지극히 떨어지거나, 학문적인 근거가 없이 자기의 경험만을 근거로 하거나, 이상한 환상을 가지게끔 하는 데에 치중할 뿐 그 실속이 없는 경우가 상당하기 때문이다.(여담으로, 그래서 '새누리당', '새정치민주연합' 이런 정당명이 싫었었다. 둘 다 똑같이 '새'로 시작해서 개표방송 볼 때 분별이 안 돼 짜증나서 그렇기도 했지만.) '내가 무엇을 스스로 만들어나간다', '내가 새로운 것을 만든다' 하는 것을 판단하려면... 워딩이 중요한데, 그 '스스로'의 기준은 어느 정도인가? '새롭다'의 기준은 무엇일까? 등등을 좀더 깊이 고찰해보지 않으면 안 된다. 지금, 21세기 이 지구에서, 어떤 학문적 영역이라든지 기술이 필요한 분야라든지, 그 영역-분야에서 예전에 선배들이 이룩해놓은 지식을 습득하지 않고는 유의미한 새로운 생각을 할 수가 없는 지경까지 이르른 것이 사실이다. 결국, 창의성이라든지 새롭다라든지 하는 것은, '기존에 확립된' 유의미한 생각틀이 될 만한 이론 하에, '기존에 확립된' 유의미한 다른 구체적인 이론, interpretation 혹은 fact들을 바라보는 것...이 99.999%이다. 그뿐이다. 무슨 교과서 혹은 학회지 혹은 그 분야에서 전세계 10% 수준에 들지 않는 사람인 한, 저런 류로 새로운 것을 창조하는 것이다.(솔직히 그런 TOP급 사람들도 그렇게 많이 사고할 것이다고 본다.) 따라서, '이해'와 '창의'는 절대로 떼어놓을 수 없는 것이다. '이해'한다는 것은 뭘까? 우리 인간은 기계가 아니다. 따라서 똑같은 자료를 '이해'했다고 하더라도, 그 자료를 어떻게 표상하느냐는 다 다를 것이다. 나는 이 차이가 가장 크다고 생각한다. 창의는 기존의 것을 어떻게 이해했느냐,에서 나온다고 생각한다. 더 과감히 말하면, 창의는 기존의 많은 다양한 것들을 제대로만 이해한다면 그냥 머리에서 자연적으로 어떻게든 도출되는 것이라고 생각한다. 기존의 것들을 코딩하고 연결하고 범주화하고 차원화하면서, 뭔가 부족한 gap이 있거나, 공통적인 패턴이 보이거나, 서로 모순된 점이 있거나,.. 자신이 던진 질문에 기존의 것이 대답해주는 양태에 생각의 흐름을 맡기기도 하면서, ..등등등 <창의성은 새로운 것을 만들고 있다는 느낌으로부터 그 동인을 얻게 된다.> 1-2. 하지만 '내가 스스로 뭔가를 만들고 있다', 혹은 '내가 새로운 것을 만들고 있다'라는 마음가짐 그 자체는 상당히 긍정적인 것인데, 이는 자기 주도적으로 이론과 자료를 찾아서 능동적으로 훈련할 수 있는 자세를 마련해주기 때문이다. 또, 자신이 스스로 자료를 찾고 스스로 해석하면, 더 자신에게 잘 와닿는다. 원래 '자기 주도적으로' '적당히 고통스럽게' 공부하는 것이 더 잘 이해되고, 오래 기억이 남는 편이다. <자유의지, 자아, 영혼, 사후세계는 허상이다.> 2-1. 뇌과학적으로 봤을 때, 인간의 자유의지 개념은 자연적으로 볼 때, 허상이다. 인간의 자아 개념은, 인간이 영혼을 가지고 있다고 상정하게 만들지만, 그냥 자아 자체도 원리적으로는 자연적 물질과 그 물질의 상호작용의 결과 등등으로 만들어지는 것이다. 자유의지는 없고(물론 자유의지가 있다고 주장하는 학자들도 있는데, 그 '자유'의 정의와 내가 정의하는 '자유'의 개념이 다르다. 나의 여기에서의 '자유' 정의는, 이 세계의 외부적인 그 어떤 물질에도 종속되지 않을 수 있는, 독립적인 상태를 말하는 것이다.), 비물질적인 영혼은 그 존재의 근거가 없다. 나는 여기에서 더 나아가, 사후세계란 없다고 생각한다. 사후세계는 인간이 너무 똑똑하기 때문에 만든 것이다. 자신의 삶이 끝나기를 원하지 않기 때문에 창의성을 발휘하여 만든 것이다. <자유의지, 자아, 영혼, 사후세계를 상정함으로써 때때로 우리가 이득을 얻을 때가 있다. 어쩌면 자주.> 2-2. 하지만, '독립된 자아'와 '완전한 자유의지', '영혼', '사후세계' 등의 개념은, 이 자연에 존재하지 않는다고 해도, 때때로 그것을 상정함에 있어서 우리가 도움을 받을 수 있다고 생각한다. 우리가 자연의 물질과 법칙들에 의해 얄짤없이 결정된다는(고전역학적이든, 양자역학적이든, 우리의 다음 순간의 상황을 결정하는 것은 '우리'가 아니라 '자연'이다. 애초에 그 '우리'도 '자연'의 일부이다.) 생각보다, 우리가 '조금이라도 독립적으로' 우리를 스스로 이끌어갈 수 있다는 자질이 있다고 믿는 것이 더 바람직할 때가 많다. 꼭 자연적으로 존재하지 않는 개념이라 할지라도, 그것을 개인적으로 믿는 것이 꼭 나쁘다라고 할 수는 없는 것이다. 물론 학문적인 영역으로 가면 좀 달라지겠지만. ............................................... <모르는 것 이외에는 말하지 않는 것이 상책이다.> 3-1. 아이작 뉴턴은 자연 앞에 겸손한 사람이다. 그는 그가 알 수 있는 것만을 논했다. 이상한, 엉뚱한 개념을 상정하지 않으려고 노력했다. (아이작 뉴턴의 사상으로부터 내가 이렇게 생각을 확장하면 내가 그를 모욕하는 것인지는 모르겠지만, 어짜피 내가 그의 사상이 이렇다고 주장하는 것이 아니라, 그냥 이로부터 모티브를 따왔다고 말하는 것이니 안심하고 말하자면,) 우리는 우리가 알 수 있는 것만 알 수 있다. 우리가 느낄 수도 없는 것을 안다고 하면 그것은 거짓말쟁이이다. 우리가 모르는 것을 안다고 주장하느니, 그냥 모른다고 인정하는 것이 앞으로 더 발전가능성이 있을 것이다. 지금은 우리가 알 수 있는 것, 알 것 같은 것만 논하면 되는 것이다. <아직 그것을 모르는 단계라도, 지금 판단하고 싶을 것을 요구받을 때가 많다.> 3-2. 하지만, 현실적으로는 사람은 자기가 알 수 있는 것, 혹은 알 수 있을 것 같은 것만을 판단하고 살 수 없다. 우리는 쓸데없는 가쉽거리에도 관심을 보일 때가 많다. 하지만, 그것은 인간의 본성이다. 그리고 그런 본성이 인류 그리고 자신의 발전에 큰 몫을 차지한다고 본다. 그리고 이따금은, 정말 정보가 단편적으로만 공개되었더라도 그것만으로 판단내려야 할 때도 많고 말이다. ............................................... <'더' 객관적이고 싶다면, 맥락을 배제하려고 애쓰지 말고, 오히려 합리적인 다양한 맥락들을 고려하라.> 4-1. 모든 것은 맥락 하에 있다. 어떤 것을 알려면 그것을 둘러싼 합리적이라고 인정받는 다양한 맥락을 최대한 많이 고려하는 것이 좋다. 그 맥락을 이해할 수 있는 여러 합리적인 생각틀을 갖추었다는 전제 하에서 말이다. 어떤 사람은 '메신저를 보지 말고 메시지만 보라고' 한다. 이 말은 두 가지로 해석할 수 있다. 1)그 메신저의, 이 사안과 관련없는 어떤 흠을 잡고 인신공격해서 논의를 틀지 말라. 2)메신저의 어떠한 특성도 보지 말고 그 메신저의 메시지만 기계적으로 딱 떼어내어서 보라. 이 말이 1)의 경우를 뜻한다면, 백번 동감한다. 하지만 2)를 뜻한다면? 나는 이것은 말도 안 된다고 본다. 메시지의 기호를 해석할 때, 메시지 그 자체만 해석하면 과연 수용할 만한 해석이 나올 수 있을까? 동의하지 않는다. 내가 읽은 어떤 논문이 있다. 그 논문 이름이 기억이 안 나는데(그 논문을 다운받아놨기 때문에, 찾으려면 찾을 수 있지만, 귀찮다. 내 스마트폰에 들어있는 논문만 수백 개다. gg 물론 그 논문들을 다 정독하지는 아니하였지만.. 그 중 한 50개는 봤나? 그 수준이다.), 하여튼 언어학적으로 맥락을 논하는 논문이었다. 그 논문의 저자(아마도 교수로 추정된다.)는 대충 다음과 같이 주장했던 것으로 기억한다. '주관적이 되지 말고 최대한 객관적인 마음가짐을 갖기 위해 맥락을 배제하라고? 이런 멍청한 녀석 같으니. 그 맥락을 배제하는 것 그 자체가 이미 주관이 개입되는 거야.' '올바른 정보들만 주어도, 그 정보들의 일부만 부각시키고 일부를 감추는 식으로만 play해도, 사람들의 자연적인 판단-경향성 때문에 진실을 충분히 왜곡하고도 남을 수 있는 거야.'등등이었다. 사람의 판단은 100% 객관적일 수 없다. 그리고 맥락을 배제한다고 '더' 객관적이게 되는 것도 아니다. 오히려 사람의 자연적인 상식과 경향성 때문에 이상한 쪽으로 왜곡을 하게 된다. 그러면 가급적 바람직한 해석을 하려면 어떻게 해야 하나? 첫머리에서 말했듯이, '합리적이라고 인정받는 다양한 맥락을 최대한 많이 고려'해야 한다. 그게 그나마 '더' 객관적이게 되는 것이다. <어떤 것에 대해 판단을 하려면, 그것에 frame을 씌우기는 씌워야 하는데.. 어떻게 씌울까?> 4-2. 사람이 사람에게 frame을 씌운다는 것이 얼마나 무서운 일인가. 저번에 AOA의 어떤 멤버가 안중근 의사에 대해서 긴또깡이라고 해서(물론 악의 없이, 모르고) 온라인상으로 엄청난 논란이 되었고, 나도 이 논란 중에 있던 여러 논쟁 중 하나에 참여했던 적이 있다. 그때 나의 주장은 이랬다. "우리나라에게 안중근 의사만큼 공헌을 해주신 분은 우리나라 사람이라면 모두가 다 기억을 해드려야 한다. 안중근 의사께서 우리가 그분을 기억해드리기를 바라고 의거를 하신 것은 아니다. 하지만, 우리를 위해서 큰 희생을 치룬 분이라면, 기억을 해드려야 한다. 그것이 최소한의 예의다. 그건 마치, 부모님이 아무것도 바라지 않고 우리를 도와드렸지만, 우리가 부모님을 부모님 사후에도 계속 기억해드려야 한다는 것과 마찬가지이다." 그러자 비판하시는 분이 있었다. "너는 그러면 우리나라에게 공헌을 하신 그 많은 분들을 전부 기억하나?" 그 비판을 듣자마자, 나는 여러가지 생각을 하게 되었다. 그리고 국사 교과를 맡고 있는 최태성 교사 같은 분들(당연히 나보다 1000000배, 10000000배는 우리 역사에 대해서 진중한 생각을 가지신 분들이다.)이 "너희들 되게 웃긴다. 국정교과서 시행 뉴스에 달리는 댓글수보다 AOA 역사의식 논란 뉴스에 달리는 댓글수가 더 많아. 너희가 언제 우리나라 역사를 그렇게 사랑했니?"라는 비판을 하신 것도 봤다. 그리고 연이어, 해당 사건에 휘말린 멤버 두 명(아마 두 명이 맞을 거다.)이 눈물지으면서 기자회견(아마 기자회견이 맞을 거다.)을 했다는 뉴스를 봤다. 내가 내 자신을 반성하면서 또다른 시각으로 이 사건을 쳐다보게 되었다. 뭐 AOA 멤버가 잘했다는 건 아닌데, 그 정도 수준의 잘못으로 그렇게 매장당할 거면 나 같은 사람은 지금쯤 능지처참을 당해 있어야 한다. 아무리 직업이 연예인이라지만.. 사람이 사람에게 frame을 씌운다는 것은 어쩔 수 없는 일이다. 하지만, 다시 한번 말하지만, 가급적 최대한 많은 합리적인 다양한 frame을 고려해야 한다. 특히, 그렇게 고려하고도 잘못된 생각을 가질 수 있으니, 전문가 집단 그리고 주변의 여러 사람들의 이야기를 경청하고 많은 이야기를 나누어봐야 한다. 그러면 조금이나마 나을 것이다. 그리고, 그런 과정을 다 거치더라도, 나의 최종적으로 판단내린 frame을 다른 사람에게 필요 이상의 권위를 가진 것인마냥 꾸며대어서 강요하면 안 된다. 물론 '나의 frame을 타인에게 강요하지 마세요'를 잘못 운용하면 물타기가 되어버리기는 하지만. ............................................... <문학, 예술보다 현실> 5-1. 그 어떠한 문학, 예술적인 것도 현실의 사건사고 및 이론에 비해서 유치할 수밖에 없다. 어떠한 학자도 그런 취지의 말을 했다고 알고 있다. 어떤 뇌과학 교양책에 실려 있던 구절이었는데, 기억이 가물가물하지만 대충 여기에서 말해보면, "인간의 그 어떠한 상상력도 자연선택보다 못하다." 정도였던 걸로 안다. 문학, 예술 등등에는 필연적으로 '인간의 선택'이 들어가고, '인간의 감정'이 들어가고, 따라서 '특정한 것을 부각'하기 마련이다. 특정한 캐릭터를 과장-단순화하기 마련이고, 특정한 사상을 합리화하기 마련이고, ...등등. 이것은 필연적으로 '현실보다 유치해진다.' 세상은 하나의 맥락만 있는 것이 아니다. 다양한 맥락이 있고, 또 이 맥락들을 고려할 때 생각틀로 작용할 많은 이론들이 있다. 이것을 어찌 책 한 권, 그림 한 권에 넣어놓을 수 있을까. 뭐, 수용자가 이것들을 가지고 나름대로 여러 가지 생각을 할 수는 있겠지만, 적어도 그 문학-예술작품이 허용할 수 있는 범위 내에서만 생각을 할 수 있을 것이다. 그걸 넘어가면 감상이 아니라 망상이라고 한다. 문학에서 복선이라는 것은, 결국 그 문학을 읽는 독자가 "꽤 그럴듯하군"이라고 받아들이게 만들기 위한 장치이다. 바꾸어서 말하면, 문학에서 '정말 뜬금없는' 캐릭터나 이야기가 튀어나오면, 독자는 그것을 불쏘시개라고 욕하고 태워버릴 것이다. 문학적 상상력이라는 것은 결국 현실에서 일어날 법한 이야기를 벗어나지 못하는 것이다. 현실을 벗어난 상상력은 권위가 없고, 아름답지 않다. <현실보다 문학, 예술> 5-2. 하지만 현실보다 좀 유치하면 어떤가 하는 생각도 든다. 문학, 예술을 하는 사람이 자신이 하고 싶은 생각을 하고, 자신이 표현하고 싶은 표현을 하고, 또 이를 통해 다른 사람들과 격의없이 소통을 하겠다는데. 사람이 다른 사람들과 미적 감각을 통해서 교류하면서 자신이 가질 수 있는 frame의 spectrum을 넓힐 수 있는 것은 상당히 가치있는 일이다. 문학 및 예술에 '부각 및 과장-단순화-합리화'는 있을 수 있다. 하지만 어짜피 우리는 조금씩은 무언가를 과장하면서 생각하는 것이 필연인데 뭘. 애시당초 우리는 fact를 경험하면서 살고 있지 않다. fact에 대해 interpretation을 하면서 살고 있다. 어떠한 interpretation은 좀 유치할 수도 있고, 엉성할 수 있고, 당연히 틀릴 수도 있다. 하지만, 그것이 지속적인 소통을 통해서 더 세련될 interpretation을 예비하면 되는 것이다. interpretation이 그것 하나뿐만은 아닐 거니까. ............................................... <예의없음의 상당부분은 무식함에서 나온다> 6-1. 물론 이것이 모든 경우에 다 적용되는 판단은 아닐 것이다. 하지만, 정말 싸이코패스이거나, 외부의 어쩔 수 없는 요인이 있거나, 순간 내가 내 자신을 제어하지 못하는 자잘한 실수 등등의 원인으로 인한 것이 아닌 한, '누가 봐도 예의없는 행동을 하는 사람'들 상당수는 그들이 무식하기 때문이라고 판단한다. 여기에서 '안다'고 하는 것은 단순히 이론적으로 아는 것만 콕 찝어서 말하는 것은 아니다. 살면서 다양한 경험을 깊이 있게 해보면서 얻는 나름대로의 느낌과 판단 총체를 말한다. "저 예술가는 흰 도화지에 점 몇 개만 찍고 선 몇 개만 그리고, 그걸 팔아서 떼돈을 버네." 만약 그 예술가가 정말 아무 생각없이 찍찍 그렇게 그렸으면, 글쎄.... 욕해도 되지 않을까 싶은데, 그걸 그림으로 해서 어떠한 전달하고자 하는 아이디어가 훌륭하면, 현상적인 것(즉, 여기에서는 그림을 성의없게 그리는 것)이 그리 중요해보이지는 않는다. 나도 미술은 잘 모르지만.. 대충 귓동냥으로 들은 것들을 종합하면 대충 그렇게 생각한다. 뭐, 똥을 싸고 그걸 Box에 담아 판매해도 거기에 엄청난 철학적 아이디어가 들어있으면 괜찮지 않을까. 상상하긴 힘들긴 한데. "문과 과목은 이과 과목보다 쉽게 배울 수 있지 않나요?" "문과 학문이 실생활에 쓸 데가 있나요?" 네이버 뉴스 댓글에 이런 류의 황당한 소리가 많이 나오는데, 나는 이런 것들을 보면 피꺼솟한다. 뭐, 애초에 학문이 실생활에 꼭 쓸 데가 있어야 하는 것인가의 의문, 또 그 "쓸모있음"의 기준을 누가 멋대로 정하는 지(정말 그들은 밥먹고 잠자고 똥만 싸는 것에 도움을 주는 것만이 "쓸모있음"의 기준의 전부란 말인가?)는 차치하고서라도, 나는 분노를 감출 수가 없는데, 그 이유는, 1)너희가 한번이라도 그걸 진중하게 개론 수준이라도 공부하고 그런 소리를 하는 거니? 2)심지어 너희가 "필요하다"고 느끼는 영역에도 그런 학문이 의미있게 개입할 수 있단다, 얘들아. -라고 하고 싶다. 일례로, 인터넷에 흔히 '..문가'라는 사람들이 네이버 지식iN을 보면, 알 수 있는 것인데, 1>"책읽기는 그냥 많이 읽으면 되니까, 수능 국어는 그냥 아무 이론 없이 양치기로 지문 많이 읽고 문제 많이 읽으면 됩니다." 같은 황당한 소리들..이 특히 문과 과목에 많다. 뭐 또 2>"지문과 문제 선지를 1:1 matching하세요." 같은 하나마나한 소리들.. 그냥 몰라서 지껄이는 거다. 모르는 건 죄가 아닌데, 그걸 왜 아는 척 하고 떠들어대나. 1>에 대해서는, "물론 아무런 이론 없이 책읽기를 많이 하면 글읽는 실력은 오른다. 하지만 예를 들어, '이 문장이 중심문장인지는 알겠는데, 왜 이것이 중심문장인지는 모르겠어.'와 같이, '그 근거'를 모르는 상황이 발생한다. 이것이 무슨 의미냐면.. 그냥 평상시에 책 읽는 데에는 별 문제가 안 될 수'도' 있는데,(물론 평상시에도 관련 언어학 및 여러 학문의 이론을 알면 큰 도움이 된다) 수능 국어와 같은 그 제한된 시간에 올바른 답을 내려면 '그 근거'를 알아야 한다. 그리고 인터넷에 둘러보면 '..문가'들의 의견이 너무 많기 때문에, 학문적으로 그 타당성이 어느 정도는 검증된 이론을, 전문가들에게 조언을 얻으면서, 선별해서 얻는 것이 좋다. 물론 여건이 안 되어서 이렇게 하지 못할 수도 있지만. 하여튼, 수능 국어를 위해서는, 어떻게든 자기가 기댈 수 있는 합리적인 학문적 글읽기 이론이 필요한 것은 사실이다." 2>에 대해서는, "모든 용어, 개념, 명제가 다 맥락 하에 있는데, 1:1 matching을 하면 단편적으로만 판단해 오답을 내릴 수 있다. 또, 애초에 1:1 matching을 위해서 사람이 어떤 식으로 글을 읽어야 하는지를 안 알려주면 다 허사다. 그러니까 1:1 matching 같은 말은 결과론적으로 끼워맞추는 이야기일 뿐, 실제 독해 중의 독해과정을 묘사하지는 못하는 하나마나한 소리이다." -라고 말하고 싶다. 그리고 이런 녀석들이 뭐 이과 과목은 잘하는 것도 아니더라. <무식함으로 인한 무례함을 피하려면> 6-2. 무식한 사람은 애초에 자기가 무슨 무례한 말을 하는지도 모를 수 있다. 왜냐면 모르니까(..) 그래서 일단 최대한 다양한 분야의 다양한 것들을 겉핥기식으로라도 아는 것이 좋다. 하지만, 세상사의 모든 것을 다 알 수는 없으니, 1)자기가 잘 모르는 영역인데 2)여러 사람들이 관심있게 보고 논의-논쟁하는 영역이라면, 1>그냥 아예 이 논의-논쟁에 끼어들지 말거나, 2>예의를 갖추고 질문하면서 끼어들거나, .. 등등으로 조심스럽게 임해야 한다고 생각한다. ............................................... <나의 감정, 나의 도덕을 다른 이에게 강요하지 마세요> 7. 대부분의 기독교인은 선량하다. 나는 지금은 기독교인이 아니지만, 내 부모님이 기독교인이시고, 나도 예전에 교회를 다녔고 정말 많이 공부했기 때문에 어느 정도는 자신있게 말할 수 있다. 하지만, 일부 대형교회 목사들의 거대한 똥싸기와, (간간이 열리는) 말도 안 되는 것을 주장하는 시위-집회가 이 이미지를 망치고 있다. 물론 기독교계의 자체 교리해석이라든지 구조라든지 등등으로 필연적으로 일어나는 일들도 많다. 어쨌든, 내가 여기에서 집중하고자 하는 것은, 일부 (자칭) 기독교인들의 '동성애 반대 시위'이다. 나는 일단 이런 개념을 이해할 수 없는데, 다른 사람이 서로 사랑하는 것에 대해서 반대한다는 개념 자체가 이해가 안 된다. 1>그들은 '이 성경구절은 이런 의미로 해석해야 하니, 너희들은 사랑하지 마'라고 하는 사고방식은 진짜.. 어이가 없을 뿐이다. 이것이 그냥 사소한 일에 대한 것이면 그들을 비웃고 끝날 일인데, 사람이 사람을 사랑하지 말라고 하는 것은 보통 심각한 일이 아닌데도, 아무 합리적인 근거 없이, 마구 떼를 쓰는 것이라서 문제이다. 이런 사람들을 다른 기독교인들은 '이 성경구절은 저런 의미로도 해석할 수 있으니, 그들을 용인해라'라고 접근하여 바꿔보려고 한다. 그런데, 그냥 '너희의 성경구절, 그리고 성경구절에 대한 자의적인 해석을 다른 사람에게 강요하지 마.'라고 접근하는 것이 원칙상으로는 옳다고 보인다. 물론 현실상으로는 더 힘들 것이라고 생각하지만. 2>"당신네 가족 구성원이 동성애자라도 좋단 말이요?"에 대해서는, "내가 좋든 안 좋든, 그게 무슨 상관이 있소. 그들이 범죄를 저지르는 것도 아니잖소."라고 말하고 싶다. 3>"그들의 면전 앞에서 욕하지는 않을테니, 우리들 집단 사이에서 그들에 대해서 쑥덕거리는 것까지 뭐라고 하진 마시오."에 대해서는, "물론 그걸 말릴 방법이 나에게는 없지만(왜냐하면 밖으로 새어나지 않을 것이기 때문에), 그것이 종교를 믿고 예수님을 믿는다는 사람이 할 소리요? 그것이 엄청 한심스럽다는 사실은 알아 두쇼."라고 하고 싶다. 나의 감정, 나의 도덕을 다른 이에게 강요하면 안 될 일이다. 법적, 학문적, 과학적인 합리적 근거가 있지 않는 한. ............................................... <과학은 가치중립적이다.> 8-1. 과학은 가치중립적일까? 음.. 옛날에 어떤 교과서인가 문제집에서 이런 주제의 글을 본 적이 있긴 하다. 여기에서의 '가치'는 '좋다/나쁘다'에 대한 가치를 말하는 것이다. 나 역시 그렇게 과학이 가치중립적이라고 믿는다. 그냥 그 자연 자체를 탐구하는 건데 뭘. 자연은 인간의 감정과 무관하다. 현대 과학자들 세계에서 정치성으로 인해 과학 이론을 만들지는 않을 것이다. <과학은 가치판단에 개입한다. 따라서 가치판단을 내릴 때 과학적인 것을 알아야 할 경우가 생긴다.> 8-2. 그렇지만, 과학이 가치판단에 영향을 주지 않을까? 절대 그렇지 않다. 과학은 가치중립적이지만, 과학을 다루는 사람은 가치중립적이 아니기 때문이다. 정말 근원적인, 논의할 꺼리도 안 되는, 원론적인 사항("인종차별하면 안 된다." "성차별하면 안 된다."
