최근에 일하게 된 독서실 옆에는 한솥도시락이 있다. 앞에는 고등학교, 옆에는 교회, 근처에는 중소기업들과 주택가. 식당이라고는 김밥천국, 순대국집, 짜장면집 뿐인 길거리에 점심으로 고르기에는 어려운 한우집과 스쿨피자, 파리바게뜨가 있다. 내가 본 한솥도시락의 입점위치 중에서 거의 손에 꼽히는 곳이라고 생각했다. 나는 한솥도시락에 옅은 추억이 있다. 초등학교 급식을 시작한 것은 3학년 때 부터였으나, 중학교 1학년에 진학했을 때는 아직 학교에 급식설비가 들어서지 않아서 도시락 생활을 해야했다. 당시에도 바쁜 부모님들은 아이의 도시락 챙기는 것이 쉬운일이 아니었고, 지금처럼 편의점 도시락이 대중화되었던 시기도 아니었다. 매점의 빵과 우유정도가 전부였으나 한국의 학교 매점은 너무나 열악한 구멍가게 이하여서 점심시간에 빵을 산다는 것은 지독하게 힘든 일이었던 것으로 생각난다. 선배들의 새치기, 잘나가는 애들의 시비걸기, 한입만 신공.. 이윽고 맛있는 샐러드 빵과 소세지 빵, 비스마르크, 불벅 같은 것부터 옥수수크림빵과 그린케잌까지 다 팔리고 남은것은 단팥앙금빵이나 옛날크림빵과 흰우유뿐. 그러다보니 아이들은 한솥도시락을 애용할 수 밖에 없었다. 학교근처에 있던 한솥도시락 매장은 월 단위 식권을 팔곤 했다. 2500원짜리 종이토큰이었던 걸로 기억한다. 위조 방지를 위해 일괄되게 인쇄된 작은 종이에 매장의 도장을 하나씩 찍어 팔았었다. 옛날에 버스를 타본 사람은 기억하려나 모르겠다. 동전토큰이 아닌 종이로된 회수권을. 대각선으로 슬쩍 찢어 넣으면 한 장으로 두번을 탈수도 있는 유용한 물건이었다. 회수권을 살 돈을 내주는 것은 부모님이지만, 회수권 두 달치 돈을 받아 알뜰하게 한달 반치로 버스를 타고 다니며 나머지 돈으로 오락실이나 피시방으로 가는 즐거움은 당시의 짜릿한 일탈이었다. 아무튼 그것과 닮은 식권을 월식으로 팔고, 봉고차에 매일 바뀌는 도시락을 담아왔던 것으로 기억한다. 당시의 한솥도시락은 사실상 독점이나 다를바 없었다. 편의점에서는 몇 종류 되지 않는 삼각김밥이 막 활성화되기 시작했고, 그마저도 점심시간에 학교 바깥에 나가서 사는 것은 불가능한 일이었다. 그래서 끼니당 2500원짜리 식권을 받아 팔면서도 한 끼에 2000원짜리 도시락을 자주 가져오곤 했었다. 카레라이스, 김치볶음밥, 치킨도시락.. 1800원에서 2300원 정도의 식사를 적어도 주당 세번씩은 가져왔던것 같다. 지금같으면 인터넷이나 SNS에서 성토를 받았겠지만 당시에는 그런것도 없었고.. 사실 아이들 입장에서도 월식 식권을 사두고는 맛있는 날만 도시락을 챙겨먹고 식권을 이월시켜 쓰거나 중고거래(?)를 하기도 했으니 별 문제는 없었던 걸로 기억한다. 가끔 도련님 도시락이라는 3천원짜리 꽤 괜찮은 메뉴인 날은 식권의 가격이 정가를 웃돌아 도시락값 이상의 상한가를 치기도 하였다. 돈까스, 함박스테이크, 치킨 이라는 반찬 3대장이 넉넉히 들어간 도시락에 아이들이 얼마나 환호를 했던지. 그러나 2학년으로 올라가자 학교는 전면급식을 실행하였고 으레 그렇듯 급식의 선택권은 거의 없다시피했다. '시설투자비'를 뽑기 위해서는 거의 모든 학생이 의무적으로 급식을 먹어야만 했기 때문이다. 간혹 급식을 안 먹겠다는 아이들에게도 몇몇 담임선생님들은 '급식비를 내고' 밥을 먹지 말고 도시락을 사다먹으라는 소리를 했다. 이런 말이 가정까지 통했고, 가정에서도 납득하는.. 말도 안되는 일이 벌어지고는 했었다. 생각해보면 당시, 우리 담탱이는 급식 안먹는다니까 별 말 안하구 그러라던데? 했던 반의 '담탱이' 는 '담임선생님'이셨던것 같다는 생각이 문득 든다. 어쨌거나 최대의 고정매출을 자랑했던 학교의 한솥도시락 식권은 급식에 밀려 점점 자취를 감추었다. 각 반마다 있던 '식권위조의 장인'들도 실업자가 되어버렸다. 그동안 그들이 얼마나 자기만의 비전절기를 통해 꿀을 빨았는지를 생각해보면 고소하다는 느낌도 들었다. 손재주가 없는 나로서는 부럽기만 했었던 기억이 난다. 사실 급식업체가 너무 심하게 부실해서 한솥이 훨씬 경쟁력 있긴 했지만. 도시락통 같은 것에 밥과 국이 배송되어 오고, 반찬이 반찬통에 담겨져 왔었는데 너무나 부실한 질과 양에 1년 동안 급식 방식이 여러번 바뀌었던것 같다. 배식형으로도 바뀌고, 밥과 국만 무한리필로도 바뀌고.. 하지만 결국 졸업하고 두 해가 지날 무렵에 급식비리로 모교가 걸렸다는 소식을 들었었지. 그 뒤로 한솥도시락을 접할 일은 없었다. 때마침 한솥도시락이 한창 경영위기 비슷한.. 도시락 사업 자체가 꽤 힘들었던 시기가 있었던 것 같기도 하고. 많은 매장이 자취를 감췄었다. 그러나 요새 물가랑 식비가 폭등하면서 비교적 낮은 가격상승폭과 편의점 도시락 대중화와 동시에 일어난 도시락 문화의 새 부흥기를 통해 매장이 다시 슬금슬금 늘어나는 것 같기도하다. 하지만 지금 내가 있는 독서실 옆 매장은 중학교때 봤던 한솥도시락의 인테리어를 그대로 유지하고있다. 아마도 15년은 묵었을 도시락 사진 포스터 몇 장은 누렇게 떠서도 접착력을 유지하고 있다는 점이 새삼 놀랍다. 그래서 요 며칠전부터 나는 중학교 시절 친구의 식권을 가끔 사서 먹어본 한솥도시락을 먹고있다. 돈도 얼마 못받는 독서실 알바에게 그나마 꿀같은 점심이랄까... 때마침 1월에는 요일별 도시락 할인행사를 했다. 옛날엔 이런거 없었는데.. 요일별 도시락 행사에는 꽤 괜찮은 구성의 도시락들이 20%정도 이상의 할인율을 통해 제공되었다. 그러나 그것도 오늘이 마지막이었다. 아직 사나흘밖에 못먹어봤는데.. 분통이 터졌다. 알아보니 1월/8월 정기세일이라는데. 사실 한솥도시락이 추억보정이 있어서 그렇지 요새 백종원 도시락이나 혜자도시락이 워낙 대단해서.. 한솥은 온갖 튀김류만 가득하고.. 특히 편의점 도시락은 라면이나 물, 음료등의 병행행사가 자주 있다는 점도 무시할 수 없다. 한솥도시락은 조금 괜찮은 도시락을 먹으려면 4천원 정도는 들여야 하는데, 할인이 없어진다고 생각하니 문득 돈이 좀 아깝다는 생각도 드는 것이다. 그러나 이 동네의 순대국은 7천원이고(라면스프맛이 나는주제에) 김밥천국도 다른 동네보다 500원씩 비싸다. 젠장. 요 며칠 한솥의 할인행사 덕분에 추억을 되새기며 몇몇 도시락을 먹어봤다. 도련님도시락 스페셜. 돈치불고기 도시락, 새치고기고기도시락.. 작은 컵라면이나 500원짜리 인스턴트 국과 먹으면 그럴싸한 점심이었다. 개인적으로는 할인행사때는 할인행사 메뉴를 먹는게 진리이고, 아닐때는 그냥 도련님 도시락 스페셜에 밥곱빼기+계란후라이 조합이 제일 나은거같다. 비싸지면 반찬의 질이 확실히 높아지긴 하는데.. 그래봐야 대충 튀김류고.. 근데 한솥의 치킨과 돈까스와 새우까스는 정말 꽤, 상당히 맛있다. 그럴싸한 그릇에 그럴싸한 가게에서 팔았다면 더 비싼값에 팔아도 될 것 같다는 생각도 든다. 가라아게라든가, 에비덴뿌라 같은 이름을 붙인다면 대충 1.5배는 받는게 이 바닥 정설아닌가? 하여튼 21세기에도 일제 일제.... 농담이다. 어쨌거나 여유있게 도시락으로 점심을 먹다보니 어릴때 생각이 많이 났다. 봉고차 뒷문에 일등으로 달려들려고 몸싸움을 하고.. 가끔 아저씨가 안볼때 옆에서 도시락을 두개 빼돌리는 아이도 있었고.. 위조 식권을 안걸리게 다른 친구들것과 섞어서 여기 네명이요! 하고 내보기도 하고.. 그 아저씨는 알고 속아준걸까 모르고 속은걸까. 아, 할인행사가 끝난다니. 내일부터는 다시 한파주의보와 영하8도라는데. 이럴때 할인행사가 필요한것 아니겠는가. 이럴때 따끈한 도시락이 필요한거 아니겠냐고! 흐엉. 한솥도시락 행사관계자가 있다면, 아잉. 행사좀 더해쥬뗴요 하고 애교라도 부리고 싶은 기분이다. 그랬다간 영원히 행사가 사라질지도 모르겠지만. 아, 야밤에 배가고파온다. 언젠가는 한솥의 치킨박스를 두개 사서 한솥의 맛있는 마요소스를 잔뜩 사다 호사를 부리며 먹어볼테다. 진짜 일생의 소원중 하나다. 한솥 치킨 원없이 먹기. 그러니 다음 할인행사때는 꼭 치킨박스를 할인해 주기를... 아잉, 할인 또 해 주떼욥. 한솥이라 저는 대학교 때 처음 먹었던 기억이 나네요. 물론 그 전에도 있는 것은 알았지만 저야 도시락먹고 살다보니;;(시골이라)
군대 제대하고 자취하면서 한참 복학하고 일찍 군제대를 한 이유로 친구가 없어서 혼자사서 집으로 들고 간 기억이죠.
그때 당시 나름 괜찮았던 가격으로 기억합니다. 학식이랑 비슷하거나 좀 더 쌌던 기억이네요. 대략 2500원~3000원정도였을까요.
요새 들어 예전만 못하다는 이야기는 들은 것 같습니다. 갑자기 생각나네요. 그런데 한솥은 튀김이 많아서 영양밸런스는 ㅜㅜ
