살아가는데 있어 정답을 맞추는 것보다 오답을 피하는 게 더 나은 것 같았다. 단언하지 못하는 건 사람마다 삶이 너무 다르기 때문이다. 누군가에겐 정답이 누군가에겐 오답이 되기도 했다. 사람은 변한다. 지식, 경험, 상황, 환경, 사람이 달라지면 변한다. 히나만을 외치던 내가 공연을 보고 마젠타를 사랑하게 된 것 처럼, 사람은 변한다. 과거의 단면을 도려내면 세상에 있는 어떠한 이론이나 사상으로 반드시 설명이 가능할 것이다. 유구히 변하는 모든 것 속에서 불변의 진리가 있다고 믿는 것이 맞는 건가 싶다. 거짓믿음을 갖는 것도 본인의 선택이긴 하다. 오늘은 일이 잘되었다. 런닝도 PB를 달성했다. 예전이었으면 아! 역시 성공은 작은 성공의 연쇄구나! 습관 블록을 쌓아서 연속적인 성취를 이루는 게 핵심이군. 이라고 생각했을 것이다. 지금은 관계가 있을 수도 있고 없을 수도 있다고 믿는다. 잘 풀리는 거 같으면 좀 더 해보고 그러다 안되면 그래도 좀 더 해보고 에이 안되네 하고 포기한다. 아! 일단 해보고 적절히 포기하는 퀴-팅이 중요한 거군요? 라고 주장하는 책들도 있더라. 무슨 말을 하는 건지 알거라 믿는다. 나는 좋은 기준을 갖는 게 좋은 삶을 사는 길이라 믿게 되었다. 좋은 기준은 좋음을 느끼는 데서 나오고 좋음은 그냥 좋은 것이다. 뭔 좋같은 소리죠? 좋음은 그냥 느껴지는 것이다. 그걸 설명할 수 있으면 평론의 탤런트가 있는 것이고 그러한 설명이 공감을 얻으면 대가가 된다고 믿는다. 좋은 기준을 높이는 건 전적으로 재능과 운과 경험의 조합에 달렸고, 이는 세상의 모든 능력이 마찬가지다. 그럼 경험을 늘리고 어쩌구.. 마음대로 하면 된다. 다만 내 생각으론 좋은 기준을 갖기 위해 노력하는 것보다 좋음을 느끼고 갈구하는 과정에서 더 나은 기준을 갖게 되는 것 같았다. 대충 쉽게 설명하면 그게 뭔데 씹덕아 소리 듣는 애들이 좋은 기준을 갖는다는 얘기다. 어떻게 살아야 하나요? 나답게 살면 된다. 방종하며 살라는 얘긴 아니고, 주어진 일에 대해 충실하고 성실히 해보며 좋은 일이 있으면 기뻐도 해보고 슬픈 일이 있으면 충분히 슬퍼하며 과거에 집착말고 미래도 불안해 하지 말고 현재의 삶에서 좋음을 느끼며 살면 된다. 나아지고 싶으면 나아지려 노력하는 것이고 소명은 주어지는 것이니 괜히 그걸 찾는답시고 헛바람 들어서 인생 망치지 말고 만약 주어진다면 되든 안되든 해보고 물론 포기해도 좋고 아무것도 하지 않고 싶으면 하지 않아도 된다. 살아가는데 있어 정답을 맞추는 것보다 오답을 피하는 게 더 나은 것 같았다. 내가 생각하는 가장 위험한 오답은 삶의 질문에 대해 답을 내려주는 사람이었다.
