예를 들어, 저는 사회성이 부족하고 수직적 관계, 상명하복, 갑을관계에 극히 취약하며 비위가 약하고 마음이 여리다는 말을 많이 들었습니다. 성격이 이렇다면 아무리 똑똑하고 공부를 잘한다 해도 의대 진학은 적절하지 않겠지요. 의대는 해부실습이 있고, 선후배간의 서열이 엄격하기로 유명하니까요(레지던트 땐 교수님들의 갑질도...). 아마 법조계도 어울리지 않을 거라 생각합니다. 저와는 반대로 사회성이 좋고 눈치가 빠르며 갑을관계에 잘 적응하는 사람이라면 (공부를 잘한다면)의대, 로스쿨 진학이나 군경 간부에 지원하는 것도 좋을 겁니다. 이런 분들은 특히 대한민국 사회에 잘 적응하겠죠. 대한민국 사회는 군사정권의 후유증 때문인진 몰라도 군대문화가 아직 알게 모르게 남아있으니까요. 제 개인적인 생각으로는, 공부를 잘하고 똑똑해도 불행한 사람들이 많은 이유 중 하나는 자신에게 어울리는 학과와 직업을 자유롭게 선택하지 않았기(또는 못했기) 때문이라고 봅니다. 워낙 의대, 법대 진학을 강조하다보니 순수학문이나 예술을 선호하고 그에 어울리는 분들도 무리하게 의대나 법대에 진학하면 행복하긴 어렵지 않을까 싶네요. 여담입니다만, 저의 경우... 능력이 받쳐준다면 네이버 웹툰 작가나 사회비평 칼럼니스트를 하고 싶었을 겁니다.
