K-BM을 통해 획득할 수 있는 아이템이 있고 없고의 차이가 매우 크다. 게임 진행 속도, 유저 간 경쟁, 캐릭터 강함의 척도에 이르기까지 중대한 영향을 주도록 게임을 설계한다. 당연히 이 같은 유형의 아이템 획득 확률은 매우 낮다. 물론, 운이 좋다면 소액으로도 낮은 확률을 뚫고 희귀 아이템을 획득할 수 있다. ‘혹시 이번엔’, ‘이번엔 제발’, K-BM은 이런 방식으로 그 아이템을 뽑을 때까지 계속해서 확률형 아이템을 구매하도록 사행심을 조장하고, 지출을 유도한다. 냉소적이기만 했던 게임 이용자들이 최근 들어 ‘트럭 시위’, 청와대 및 국회 청원, 의견서 전달 등 보다 적극적이고 집단화되어 행동하고 있다. 그 움직임이 들불과도 같이 번지고 있다. 게임업계는 언제까지 이용자들의 목소리를 외면할 것인가. 협회는 언제까지 자율규제라는 위선에 기대어 여론을 마주하지 않을 것인가. 본 의원은 엽기적인 내용을 전부개정안에 담은 것이 아니다. 자율규제하던 방식을 법제화하고, 이를 어길 경우 처벌하자는 것이다. 협회의 주장대로 자율규제 준수율이 80~90%에 달하고 있다면 전부개정안을 반대할 이유가 없다. 지금처럼 확률 공개를 이행하면 법제화가 된다고 하더라도 처벌받을 일이 없는 것이다. 이미 자율규제로 공개하고 있는 아이템 획득 확률을 법에 명문화하자는 것뿐이다. 하물며 확률 공개는 이용자들이 원하는 최소한의 알 권리이다. 하다못해 강원랜드 슬롯머신도 당첨 확률과 환급율을 공개하고 있다. 이런 판에 협회와 업계가 이마저도 끝끝내 거부하고 다른 수단을 통해 법제화를 막는다면, 우리 게임 산업의 미래는 없을 것이다. 또한, 국산 게임에 대한 인식이 나아질 기회는 다시 없을 것이다. 이것이 이번 제21대 국회에서 반드시 법제화가 되어야 할 이유다.
