제가 봤다고 기록한 영화가 오늘로 천 편이 되었습니다. 이 중에 만점을 준 영화가 딱 스물 네 편 있더군요(2.4%네요). 나름대로 명작이라고 판단했던 이 영화들을 세 편 정도의 글을 통해 가볍게 소개하려고 합니다. 제 영화 판단의 기준은 이야기의 서사구조가 논리적인지, 새로운지가 최우선이 되는 편이고요, 너무 복잡하거나 어려운 영화는 선호하지 않는다고 개인적으로 생각합니다. 혹시라도 안 본 것 있으시면 한 번쯤 추천드려도 괜찮을 거라고 자부(?)해봅니다. 순서는 무작위입니다. 1, 킹스맨(2015): 007에 지친 사람들을 위한 새로운 영국 신사 스파이의 전형을 그리는 영화입니다. 스파이 캐릭터 자체가 젠틀하면서 유머러스하죠. 전작 킥애스에서처럼 여전히 약빤 액션신을 멋지게 그려내고 있습니다. 남자는 수트죠. 콜린퍼스가 미중년 액션스타로 새롭게 태어납니다. 2. 본 아이덴티티(2002): 또 다른 스파이물이네요. 3부작이고 시작하는 작품입니다. 기억을 잃은 맷 데이먼이 바다에서 구출되는 장면으로 시작하죠. 자기 자신이 누구인지 찾아가는 과정을 그려낸, 어쩌면 약간 뻔할 수도 있는 스토리 구조입니다. 초반부는 약간 지루할 수도 있는데, 후반으로 갈수록 시나리오가 힘을 발하는 편입니다. 3. 서유기 – 선리기연(1994) : 주성치 주연의 서유기 2부작 중 2편입니다. 1편이 유머코드에 힘을 준 반면에 2편은 손오공의 인간적 고뇌를 다룹니다. 10년 전에 봤는데, 여주가 상당히 예쁩니다. 그래서 더 감정이입이 되었는지도 모르겠네요. 보통 주성치의 영화는 희로애락중 희와 애, 즉 기쁨과 슬픔을 집중적으로 다루는 편인데 그 중 최고봉이라고 생각합니다. 4. 지구를 지켜라(2003): 저주받은 걸작으로 유명하죠. 망한 포스터로도 유명하고요. 저는 쓰러져 가는 이름도 생각나지 않는 서울 모 상영관에서 직접 봤습니다. 심지어 의자가 나무였는데 얼마전에 근처에 갔더니 없어졌던 것 같더군요. 아무 생각 없이 보러 갔다가 충격을 심하게 받았던 기억이 생생합니다. 그 때 같이 봤던 아가씨가 저에게 보러 가자고 강권해서 갔던건데, 어디서 무얼 하고 있을지 궁금합니다. 서울의 달에서 춤추던 백선생으로만 남아있던 백윤식이 스타로서 화려한 충무로 신고식을 한 영화입니다. 장준환 감독은 이 작품 이후로 10년 가까이 잠잠하다가 최근에 화이로 컴백했죠. 5. 세 얼간이(2009): 웃기고, 감동적이면서, 긍정의 감성을 불어넣는 착한 인도영화입니다. 소위 ‘힐링’의 선선두주쯤 되려나요? 이런 감성을 좋아하지 않는 편임에도 별 다섯개를 줄 수 밖에 없었던 영화였습니다. 이후로 발리우드 영화를 좀 찾아봤는데 이만한 영화는 (아직까진) 없더라고요. 좋고 나쁨을 떠나서 진부하지만 힘이 있는 영화였습니다. 6,. 동감(2000): 유지태, 김하늘 주연의 청춘sf영화입니다. … 제 20대에 바치는 연서 같은 영화이기도 하고요. 이 영화는 2000년에 같은 분과 두 번 보았는데, 연애하기로 한 날에도 영화관에서 보았고 헤어지기로 한 날에도 대학로 dvd방에서 보았죠. 아직도 그 dvd방은 그 자리에 있더군요. 그래서 대학로에 갈 때마다 이 영화가 떠오릅니다. 사랑은 타이밍이라는 제 연애지론과 정확히 맞아 떨어지는 영화입니다. 7.봄날은 간다(2001): 20대의 사랑과 30대의 사랑이 교차할 때 벌어지는 일을 그리고 있습니다. 여러 번 보았는데, 나이를 먹어가며 점점 유지태에서 이영애로 감정이입의 대상이 변해가는 신기한 경험을 하네요. 허진호 감독의 연출도 좋고, 촬영감독님 성함이 기억이 안 나는데 유작이었던 것 같습니다. 색감이 아름답고 이사오 사사키의 음악도 가슴이 아립니다. 8. 시티 오브 갓(2002): 실화 베이스입니다. 신의 도시라는 이름과 달리 이 도시는 빈민촌이고, 무법천지입니다. 이러한 공간에서 10대 아이들이 어떻게 자라는지 충격적 현실을 보여주고 있습니다. 역설적으로 음악과 영상이 아름답죠. 어울릴 것 같지 않은 재료(어두운 현실, 아름다운 색감)들의 조합을 통해 명작이 탄생하는 과정이 재밌었습니다. 오랜만에 글을 써봤더니 쉽지 않네요. 좋은 글이 많이 올라오는 홍차넷이 되길 바라면서 오늘은 글을 줄일게요.
