평소에 글을 쓰려면 일단 머리속에서 몇달은 굴리고 한참을 생각 또 생각 하며 각을 제며 자료들 교차 검증도 해보고 추가 리서치를 한참 하고서는 정작 쓰는건 또 아무 생각 안하고 검토도 안하며 한번에 휙 써갈기는 다시갑시다입니다 무슨 글거리가 생기면 현실적으로 가능한 깊게 파보고 싶어하는 마음에 그런데요 그래서 이번엔 조금 비틀어서 그냥 생각난 김에 자료 대충 찾아보고 (구글에서 처음 나오는 자료들로 대충 때웠습니다) 기본적인 계산만해서 글을 써봅니다 계산의 결과는 아래 링크한 두 그래프로 볼수있는데요 (아마 첫 그래프의 오른쪽을 클릭하시면 다음 그래프로 넘어갈겁니다) 이번 글의 주제는 바로 축구선수들의 키에 관한 이야기입니다 스포츠는 몸으로 때우는 특성상 신체능력이 절대적으로 영향을 끼칠수 밖에 없으며, 이에 관한 논의는 정말로 넓고도 깊습니다 예전에 비해서 일반팬들의 수준도 높아져서 신체능력이란 여러가지 세세한 요소들로 구성되어있고 스포츠별로는 물론이요, 같은 스포츠 내에서 포지션과 역할에 따라서도 필요한 신체능력의 조건이 다르다는 수준 높은 이야기가 나오기도합니다 전 평소엔 저런 깊은 이야기를 쫒아 다니지만 이번에는 청개구리 처럼 가장 표면적이고 단순한 지표를 살표보고 싶었습니다 왜냐하면 너무 디테일에 몰입하면은 또 큰그림을 놓치기 마련이거든요 신체조건 중에 가장 직관적이고 자료가 풍부한것은? 다름 아닌 키입니다. 축구로만 국한 지어서 이야기해보아도 정말로 다양한 이야기가 나옵니다 국내에서는 특히 이승우 선수가 바르셀로나 입단 이후 축구선수로서의 키와 신체능력에 대한 이야기가 정말 많은데요 이는 바르셀로나 입단이라는 매우 높은 기대치와 함께, 키로 대변되는 이승우 선수의 신체조건이 왜소함을 꼽는 비관론이 공존하기 때문이죠 특히나 국내 축구계의 악습중 하나인 어린선수를 단순히 키와 사이즈로만 재단하여 속단하는 것에 대한 반발이 겹치며 축구선수에게 적합한 키는 아직도 갑론을박하는 주제입니다 그렇다면 실제로 "성공한" 축구선수들의 키를 본다면 우리는 축구선수에게 적합한 키가 무엇인지 알수있지 않을까요? 일단 축구선수로서 "성공"이라는 기준을 2가지를 만들고 위의 두 그래프를 만들어보았습니다 첫번째 기준이 더 쉬운 기준인데요, 바로 영국 프리미어리그 소속의 선수가 되는 것입니다.(참 쉽죠잉?) 지난 2019-2020 시즌 잉글랜드 프리미어리그 소속 모든 선수들의 키를 (골키퍼 빼고) 그래프로 그려보면 위의 1번 그래프가 나옵니다 놀랍지 않게도 꽤 보편적인 분포를 보여줍니다 아주 큰 선수들과 (우측 상단) 아주 작은 선수들 (좌측 하단)이 존재하고 대체로 중간에 많은 선수들이 존재하죠 이 중간의 키, 즉 작년 EPL 선수들의 골키퍼 제외 평균 키는 바로 182 cm였습니다 (상단 회색 점선) 이게 얼마나 큰 키일까요? 이게 감이 쉽게 오지 않을까봐 회색 점선이 하나 더 있습니다 바로 작년 EPL 소속 선수들의 국가들의 남성 평균키의 평균입니다. 바로 175.1 cm죠. 즉 EPL 선수들을 다 고국으로 돌려보내고 각 국가별로 숫자에 맞추어서 만18세 이상 남자들을 임의로 뽑아서 축구팀들을 만들면 축구팀들의 평균키가 순식간에 7 cm나 줄어들 것이란 말입니다 한국에서 남성 큰키의 기준인 180 cm의 사람이 순식간에 평균 키인 173 cm로 변하는 것이죠 프로 축구선수가 되는데에 키는 상당히 중요하단 것을 유추해볼수있죠 물론! 위에서 언급했듯이 축구에서 어떤 역할을 하느냐에 따라 키가 작은것이 유리할수도있다는 주장도 충분히 일리가 있습니다 그리고 운좋게도 첫번째 그래프에서 우리는 그 이야기를 조금 더 할수가있어요 더 세분화된 자료는 찾지 못해서 역시나 골키퍼 빼면 전통적으로 키가 가장 큰 중앙 수비수들덕에 수비수들의 평균키가 184.5 cm로 가장 컷고, 그 다음 공격수가 181 cm, 그리고 미드필더가 180 cm 였습니다. 공이든 수든 그래도 어쨋든 평균보다는 큰게 유리하다는 거죠. 조금 더 축구에 익숙한 분들이라면, 아니 중앙에 뛰는 선수들은 크고, 사이드에 뛰는 선수들은 작은게 좋지 않나? 이 포지션 분배는 그걸 보여주지는 못하지 않소 라는 말을 하실수있고, 이는 매우 예리한 지적입니다 그리고 전 그 데이터 까지는 찾아보지 않았습니다. 귀찮았거든요. 대신에 첫번째 그래프를 보면서 놀라우면서 재미있는 특징이있는데요 흔히들 우스갯 소리로 우리나라 남자중에 178, 179 cm인 사람은 없다 그러죠 왠지는 모르겠지만 EPL에도 176, 177 cm인 선수가 없습니다. 딱 평균인 175나 그보다 작은 선수는 있지만, 그 다음은 아예 178 cm부터 시작이에요 국가평균인 하단 회색 점선 바로 위로 여백의 미가 존재하는 이유죠 ㅋㅋ 어찌되엇든 175 이하의 선수들의 비율은 약 20%입니다 전술에 따라 다르지만, 중앙과 사이드의 포지션 비율이 6:4 정도라는 것을 생각해보면 키가 작은 선수들의 비율이 그에 비해서도 상당히 낮다는 것을 알수있죠 그렇다고 키가 작은 선수들이 자리가 없는 것은 아닙니다 역대 최고의 선수 메시만 해도 키가 매우 작죠 그리고 바로 전 세대에 세계에서 가장 완벽한 팀의 중심이였던 챠비와 이니에스타도 키가 매우 작은 선수들입니다 그래서 만들어본게 바로 2번재 그래프입니다 2번째 기준은 1995년 이후 발롱도르 수상자들의 키입니다 추가로 1995년이 기준인 이유는 2가지입니다 시대가 변함에 따라 세계 각국의 평균키가 상당히 많이 변해서 옛날 선수들까지 찾아보면 국가 평균키와의 비교가 많이 애매모호해지고 1995년 이전에는 발롱도르가 유럽인에게만 주어져서 "세계 최고의 선수"를 대표하는 상이라 볼수 없기 때문입니다 (그래도 95년 이전 자료도 있긴 있으니 궁금하시면 댓글로 ㄲㄲ) 자 올라가서 그래프 우측을 클릭해보시면 누르끼끼한 그래프가 나옵니다 회색 점선은 다시한번 발롱도르 수상자들의 국적의 남성 평균 키, EPL 평균키와 크게 다르치 않게 174 cm 정도가 나옵니다 그리고 파란 점선이 발롱도르 수상자의 평균 키입니다, 180.2 cm 발롱도르 특성상 수비수들이 수상하는게 굉장히 희귀하고, 공격적인 미드필더와 공격수들 위주로 수상이 된다는 것을 생각해보면 작년 EPL 미드필더들과 공격수 평균키와 전혀 다를바가 없는 수치입니다 거기에 아는 사람은 다 아는 얘기지만 국가 평균 174 cm보다 작은 키의 발롱도르 중에서 2개 빼면은 다 바로 그 리오넬 메시의 발롱도르입니다 나머지 둘은 잉글랜드의 마이클 오웬과 크로아티아의 루카 모드리치고요 결론은 의외로 간단합니다 축구에 필요한 힘, 스피드, 체력을 안정적으로 다 잡을수있는 키는 180 cm 전후입니다 좀 더 정확히 말하면 178 ~ 185 cm 정도이겠죠. 저 범위는 포지션의 차이, 그리고 개개인별로 키와 별개로 지니는 운동능력의 차이에서 나오는 것일겁니다. 이보다 작거나 크면 위에 언급한 3가지 중 적어도 하나에 프로 선수로서 최소 기준에 못미치는 패널티를 입게 될 가능성이 높고, 그렇다면 나머지 능력들에서 그 패널티를 매꾸고도 남을만큼 특출난 능력을 지니고 있어야하는거죠 예를들어 지난 축구사 10년을 양분한 메시와 호날두 둘다 위에서 언급한 범위 밖의 선수들이죠. 메시는 170 정도이고 호날두는 180 후반이니까요* *제 자료에서 호날두 키가 정확하지 않습니다, 구글에서 그냥 치니까 189라고 해서 그 키를 기준으로 얘기합니다 심증적으로는 186 정도일것 같기도한데 모르겠으요 두 선수 모두 자신들의 키가 주는 강점은 유지하면서 선천적 후천적인 요소들의 결합으로 키가 주는 약점은 거의 없다시피한 괴물들이기에 이런 압도적인 모습을 보여주는 것이죠 축구란 다양한 답변을 인정하는 스포츠라, 본인이 할수만있으면 키가 절대적인 제약 조건은 아니라는거죠 다만 일반적으로 축구에 필요한 신체 능력을 이야기할때를 생각해본다면 어느 정도의 키가 축구에 적합한지에 대한 기준은 이미 나와있다 생각됩니다 Warning: Use of undefined constant no - assumed 'no' (this will throw an Error in a future version of PHP) in /home/redtea/html/a_skin/bbsd/view.php on line 133 Warning: Use of undefined constant no - assumed 'no' (this will throw an Error in a future version of PHP) in /home/redtea/html/a_skin/bbsd/view.php on line 146 Warning: Use of undefined constant vote - assumed 'vote' (this will throw an Error in a future version of PHP) in /home/redtea/html/a_skin/bbsd/view.php on line 161 8 이 게시판에 등록된 다시갑시다님의 최근 게시물
