군포의 노포이자 대표 맛집, 대통령의 맛집으로도 유명한 군포식당입니다. 이름만 봐도 포스가 흐르잖아요. 하지만 전 군포에서 20년 넘게 살아오면서 군포식당을 가보지 않았습니다. 물론 부모님이 안 데려가신게 제일 컸지만, 이유를 생각해보면 하나는 가격이요 둘은 입지요 셋은 평범함입니다. 그래서 의외로 주말 식사시간에도 여유롭게 앉을 수 있었습니다. 근처에 공단이 있어 평일에 오히려 손님이 더 많을 거라고 생각은 합니다. 보통은 10000원, 특은 13000원입니다. 꽤 비싼 가격이죠. 위치는 군포 구 도심에서 애매하게 끼어있습니다. 산본 신도시 주민들은 당연히 버스를 타고 오셔야 하는 거리고, 군포 구도심쪽 아파트 단지에서도 걸어서 20분은 넘게 걸립니다. 지나가다 들릴 확률은 거의 없을 것 같습니다. 겉으로 보기엔 평범합니다. 일반적인 설렁탕의 뿌연 국물이 아닌, 곰탕이나 갈비탕 계열의 투명한 국물입니다. 고기 양은 적은 편입니다. 아버지는 보통을 시키셨고 전 특을 시켰는데 특을 시켰음에도 웬만한 순대국 보통이랑 비슷한 수준입니다. 국물만 먹어보면 그냥 맛있는 곰탕입니다. 사실 결혼식 갈비탕도 국물은 맛있잖아요? 그래서 평범한 곰탕이라고 생각하기 쉽습니다. 이 모든 단점을 끝내주는 고기의 질로 커버칩니다. 전 소고기 설렁탕을 군포식당에서 처음 접해서 별 감흥없이 넘어갔는데, 이보다 맛있는 소고기 수육을 살면서 찾아보지 못했습니다. 2등이 봉피양 수육이었는데, 전 군포식당이 더 맛있더라구요. 알고 보니 비싼 양지 부위만 쓰신다고 하더라구요. 가격도 납득이 갔습니다. 개인적으로 위치만 산본 번화가로 옮기면 바글바글한 맛집이 될텐데 아쉽습니다. 주차 공간에 여유는 있으니 곰탕 맛있어질 겨울에 한번 가보시는 것도 괜찮을 듯 합니다.
