장충동 평양면옥입니다. 아름다운 건물인 맞은편 경동교회에서 바라본 모습입니다. 주차타워가 있지만, 식사시간에는 주차하려면 시간이 꽤 걸립니다. 발렛주차비 1000원 (사진은 2년전 것입니다. 지금은 냉면이 만천원) 입구에 있는 가격표입니다. 주차타워 만큼 높은 가격을 자랑하고 있지요. 냉면 만천원이 저렴하게 느껴지는 것은 기분탓 일겁니다. 면수입니다. 육수가 아닌 면수는 그야 말로 면을 삶은 물을 주는 것이라, 점심 때 보다 저녁 때 더 구수하다고 하는데, 그렇다고 기다렸다 마실 정도는 아닙니다. 주문한 만두입니다. 참고로 만두국에는 이 만두 5개가 들어간다고 합니다. 만두에는 두부와 부추, 파가 대부분입니다. 물론 돼지고기도 있습니다. 후추같은 향신료는 보이지 않습니다. 이전에 비하면 간이 강해졌다고 하는데, 지금의 만두도 충분히 슴슴합니다. 냉면입니다. 겨울철이라서 그런데 냉면의 형태가 잘 유지되어 옵니다. 제육 두점, 소고기 두점입니다. 육수는 간장을 거의 첨가하지 않은 느낌이 들 정도로 슴슴합니다. 필동면옥은 고추가루를 뿌려서 약간 칼칼하고 깔끔한 맛이 나는데, 그냥 슴슴합니다. 이 슴슴한 육수를 마시면서, 면을 씹어 봅니다. 면을 씹을 수록 고소한 맛이 입안을 조용히 맴돕니다. 육수 맛보다 면의 맛이 돋보이는 냉면입니다. 다들 우래옥의 면이 가장 맛있다고 하는데, 우래옥의 냉면은 맛을 느끼기에는 배같은 화려한 재료가 들어 있어서 이렇게 면의 맛을 즐기기에는 평양면옥이 더 좋은 것 같습니다.
