위에 건 짧으니 이걸 들으시는 게 낫겠네요 언덕 위의 구름 봤습니다. 진짜 잘 만들긴 했더군요 =_=;;; --------------------------------------------- 일본의 목표는 간단했습니다. 만주에 있는 러시아군에 선공을 걸어 무찌른 후 협상한다는 거였죠. 에 맞아요. 태평양 전쟁 느낌 나죠? -_-; 뭐 비슷합니다. 물론 그 때에 비하면 훨씬 제정신이었죠. 자, 자세히 디벼봅시다. 청일전쟁이 끝난 후 일본은 군비를 크게 증강합니다. 직후에 군사비가 300% 이상 증액됐고, 이걸 또 해마다 100% 이상씩 늘려갔답니다. 이렇게 되면서 러일전쟁 직전, 육군은 15만 이상의 정규군을 확보해 청일전쟁 때보다 2.5배 이상의 전력이 됩니다.  쓰시마 해전에서의 기함 미카사. 전후 온갖 사고를 겪다가 퇴역하는데, 상징성이 워낙 커서 기념함으로 보존되고 있습니다. 해군도 크게 증강됐죠. 2차례에 걸쳐 군함건조계획을 세웠는데 여기에 든 비용이 2억엔이 넘습니다. 1만 5천톤급 6척을 중심으로 영국 등 유럽에서 어마어마한 양의 군함을 구입합니다. 이렇게 10년동안 전쟁을 대비해서 쓴 비용이 7억엔이라는군요. 1904년 일본 예산이 2억 5천만엔이었습니다. 대략 1년 예산의 1/4 가량을 군사비로 지출한 거라고 합니다. +) 왜 다 사왔냐고 하면... 큰 놈을 일본이 만들수가 없었으니까요. 군함 건조는커녕 전함이나 순양함급을 수리할 조선소도 없었다고 합니다. 전쟁에 이기기 위해서라는 점에서는 잘 산 거지만, 일본의 내실부족은 여기서도 충분히 볼 수 있습니다. 육군은 15만vs9만, 해군은 군함의 총톤수로 따져서 24만vs18만... 이렇게 극동에 한해서 일본은 러시아에 대해 육해군 모두 우위를 점하게 됩니다. 이걸 바탕으로 전략을 짠 것이죠. 경제력, 군사력 등 모든 분야에서 러시아가 일본에 비해 압도적이었지만, 장소가 극동에 한정된 이상 승산은 있었습니다. 시베리아 횡단철도는 완공되지 않았고, 단선이라서 수송력도 한계가 있었습니다. 러시아의 중심이 유럽인 이상 극동에서 전쟁이 일어났다고 대군을 다 보낼 순 없었구요. 러시아의 병력이 일본의 7배지만 극동에 투입할 수 있는 건 그 2/7에 불과하다, 그 정도는 감당할 수 있다는 거였습니다. 전시체제로 전환해도 러시아군이 30만이 넘을 수 없다고 보았고, 일본의 전시체제 동원도 이걸 압도할 수 있게 계획을 짭니다. 이 홈그라운드의 이점은 이것뿐만이 아니었죠. 한국인, 중국인의 협조는 물론이고, 일본인이 아닌 척 첩보활동을 하기에도 좋았습니다. 일본은 만주 곳곳에 스파이를 보냈고, 최대한의 첩보를 긁어모읍니다. 러시아군에 대해서 말이죠.  다카하시 고레키요. 외국을 뛰어다니며 돈을 구하러 다녔습니다. 이후에 경제 분야에서 맹활약하죠. 재무부장관이라 할 수 있는 대장상을 도합 23년이나 했으니... 일본의 케인즈주의자로 공황 등 경제문제를 해결하려고 싸웠지만, 36년 2.26 사건에서 죽습니다. 경제 살릴려고 군을 건드리려다가요. -_-; 이 사건이 일본 군부 폭주의 대표적인 사례죠. 미국에 유학갔다가 노예로 팔리는 등 다사다난한 삶을 살았지만, 자신이 행운아라고 생각하며 낙천적으로 살았다고 합니다. 일본정부는 영미에 국채를 팔기 위해 정말 온갖 힘을 다 했구요. 영미가 일본을 지원하긴 했지만 국가 단위로 무료로 퍼주거나 돈을 빌려주거나 한 건 아니었습니다. 일본의 외교관들이, 일본이 불리하다고 보고 무시했던 이들에게 국채를 팔아야 했던 거죠. 또다른 전쟁이었습니다. 이 과정에서 의외의 나비효과도 있었습니다. 1903년 러시아에서는 소년 살인 사건이 대규모 반유대인 폭동(포그롬)으로 이어집니다. 이런데 러일전쟁이 일어나자 유대인 자본이 일본으로 기운 것이죠. 미국의 금융자본가인 제이콥 시프가 대표적입니다. 그의 주선으로 빌릴 수 있던 돈이 4억엔이었다고 합니다. 거기에 유대계인 로스차일드 가문에 영향을 줘서 러시아 채권을 막기까지 했죠. 일본이 유리해진 후에야 채권이 잘 팔렸지만요.  아카시 모토지로. 전후에는 한국의 치안을 맡기도 합니다. 정미의병을 진압하고 이후 헌병사령관으로 105인 사건을 맡았죠. 일본의 로또라 여겨지는 러시아의 혁명도 그냥 지나가다 떨어진 감이 아닙니다. 일단 러시아의 강경책이 국내의 불만을 잠재우려고 한 거였다는 분석이 있고, 계속되는 패전이 국민들의 불만을 폭발시켜 혁명까지 이어진 것도 있습니다. 하지만 더 직접적인 게 있죠. 아카시 모토지로는 주러공사관의 육군 무관으로 있으면서 온갖 공작을 합니다. 전쟁 발발후 스웨덴으로 가면서도 계속했죠. 러시아 내의 혁명세력과 러시아의 적국에 대한 공작이었습니다. 피의 일요일의 주역인 가폰부터 레닌까지도 그 대상이었습니다. 그의 공작금은 무려 100만엔이었다고 합니다. 이렇게 일본이 미쳐서 아무 생각도 없이 저지른 건 아닙니다. 일본은 할 수 있는 모든 것을 쏟았고, 이걸 통해 단기결전을 노립니다. 하지만 그 속에 있는 약점과, 광기 역시 제대로 드러나게 되죠. 태평양 전쟁같은 최악의 결과는 나지 않았지만, 목표는 실패한 거나 다름없었습니다. 모든 것을 쏟으니 정말 나라가 경제적으로 망하기 직전까지 갔고, 그러면서 배상금이라는 눈에 보이는 성과가 없었기에 참았던 분노가 폭발했죠. 이후의 일본은 승리만 기억했을 뿐, 이 때의 문제를 고치지 않고 더 심해졌죠. ---------------------------------------------------- 국운을 걸고 전쟁 직전 러시아의 행보는 갈지자입니다. 한국에 대한 태도에서 볼 수 있죠. 고종은 이미 03년 9월에 중립국을 선포하려 했습니다. 헌데 이 땐 (일본은 당연하고) 러시아가 받아들이지 않았고 포기했죠. 이러다 04년 1월에 고종의 편을 들어줍니다. 중립국의 대외선포는 러시아가 해줬구요. 이러다가 일본의 일본의 요구조건을 상당히 들어주는 협상안을 내밉니다. 한국에 있는 일본의 경제, 군사적 이익을 인정한다는 내용이었죠. 하지만 일본의 단교 직전에 결정돼 단교 후에야 일본에 도착합니다. 뭐 일본이 원하는 부분을 들어주긴 했지만, 러시아군의 철수가 없었으니 일본이 이걸로 만족했을 것 같진 않습니다. 이토같은 온건파야 받아들였겠지만요. +) 언덕 위의 구름에서 극동총독 알렉세예프가 무시했다는 댓글을 주셨는데 그렇더군요. 일단 러일전쟁사에서는 그런 말은 없습니다. 니콜라이가 온건파였다가 이 시기 강경으로 바뀌는 게 (이른바 신노선이라고 합니다) 본인의 의지일지 강경파에 떠밀린건지는 창작의 영역이겠죠. 기본 전략은 장기전이었습니다. 철도는 아직 덜된 부분이 많았고, 병력과 물자 수송은 시간이 필요했습니다. 하지만 그 시간만 잘 버틸 수 있다면 당연히 승리는 러시아의 것이라 생각한 것이죠. 일본에게 주기 싫어서 그렇지 당장 한반도까지 먹을 생각은 없었습니다. 일본의 군사행동이 한반도로 끝난다면 그것을 허용할 것, 만주로 넘어오더라도 방어에 집중할 것이었습니다. 여차하면 후퇴해서 병력을 합치고 말이죠. 방어로 나서는 게 틀린 건 아니었습니다. 한 때 18만에 달했던 주둔군은 이 때 9만여(+ 후방에 2만여가 더 있긴 했습니다) 정도였으니까요. 그렇게 7개월만 버티면 일본군보다 우위에 설 수 있으며 그 때 반격한다는 것이죠. 만주는 넓었고 공간을 주면서 시간을 버는 거죠. 나름대로 일본군의 진격에 맞춘 후퇴계획을 세웠고, 반격해서 일본까지 점령한다는 (...) 최종계획까지 세워는 뒀습니다. 하지만 치밀했던 일본의 계획에 비해선 역시 부족했습니다. 넓은 땅에서 러시아군은 너무 적었고, 곳곳에 퍼져 있었습니다. 이러니 주도권을 계속 일본이 쥐게 되었죠. 일본은 랴오둥(요동) 반도와 한반도에서의 북진을 함께 했고, 러시아군은 계속 물러나다가 그 중요한 뤼순이 있는 반도가 포위당하게 됩니다. 해군도 너무 수세적으로 나왔고 말이죠. 그럴수밖에 없는 이유야 있었습니다. 철도 얘기야 계속 했고, 만주의 방어준비가 제대로 돼 있지 않았거든요. 뤼순만 해도 요새는 미완성이었고, 항구도 큰 군함을 수리할 시설이 없었습니다. 블라디보스토크야 갖춰져 있었지만 둘 사이의 거리는 너무 멀었고, 그 가운데 일본이 있었죠. 개별 함이라도 일본보다 강해야 하련만 일본의 신형함들은 러시아 것보다 강했구요. 포탄의 성능은 20%나 떨어졌고, 속도도 일본 게 더 빨랐죠. 안 그래도 약한 함대가 둘로 나뉘어 있었던 겁니다. 육군의 질이라도 좋았냐 하면 그것도 아니었죠. 장교진은 귀족들 판이었습니다 군사교육수준이 낮았고, 경험도 부족했습니다. 부사관은 너무 부족했고 고위장교는 고령화됐죠. 병사들의 문맹률은 오히려 일본 쪽이 더 낮았구요. 소총도 파괴력은 딸려도 명중률 면에서는 좋았고, 기관총은 일본군이 몇 배 더 많았죠. 대포도 큰 건 러시아 쪽이 더 좋고 수도 두배였지만 작은 건 일본군이 더 많이 가지고 있었구요. 여기에 극동에 정예군을 보내는 걸 꺼렸구요. 여기에 일본군이 너무 강조해서 그렇지 절대 뺄 수 없는 병사들의 정신력 차이도 컸죠. 유럽 러시아와는 멀어도 너무 먼 극동을 지킨다는 건 러시아군에게 큰 의지를 주지 못 합니다. 반면 일본은 공러증, 여기서 지면 일본이 망할수도 있다는 두려움으로 강한 훈련과 정신력으로 무장해 있었죠. 이러니 질적인 면에서도 일본군이 앞서면 앞섰지 떨어지진 않았죠. +) 수준 낮은 귀족 장교들의 문제야 다른 나라에도 있긴 했죠 -_-a 부사관 부족 문제는 일본도 컸습니다. 일본의 장교진 문제는 전쟁하면서 하도록 하죠. 러시아는 강대국이 되었다 하나 산업화는 아직 부족했습니다. 부족한 공업력으로 규모를 크게 늘리다보니 내실은 더 부족해졌죠. 당시 각 부대의 대포 수는 열강들에 비해 적었고, 총알은 전쟁 전에 2800만발이나 부족했다고 합니다. 경제도 바닥을 쳐서 혁명이 일어나게 된 거죠. 이런 경제, 군사적 규모가 일본보다야 훨 높았지만 역시 극동이라는 먼 곳이었기에 상황이 훨씬 안 좋았구요. 이런 상황이라도 러시아가 더 물러날 순 없었을 겁니다. 한국을 포기할 수 없었던 일본과 같은 마음이겠죠. 상황이 불리해도 만주를 지배하려면 계속 눌러앉야 했으니까요. 완전 철군한다는 결정을 내리지 않는 이상 전쟁은 막을 수 없었을 겁니다. 아니 그랬다면 일본은 더 좋다구나 하고 다른 핑계로 전쟁을 일으켰겠죠. 설마 진짜 공격해올까 하는 생각도 있었겠죠. 감히 저 일본 원숭이들이요. 아시아주의가 먹힌 이유가 뭐겠습니까. 인종차별이 심했으니까 그런 거죠. 그게 아니더라도 극동에서는 러시아가 불리하다 해도 양국의 차이는 넘사벽, 러시아가 아니라 서양인들 중에 일본이 먼저 칠 거라는 생각을 한 사람이 얼마나 됐겠어요. 최소한, 기습 공격은 전혀 에상 못 했던 게 확실하구요. +) 서양인들도 황인의 위협, 황화론을 걱정했습니다. 중국과 일본으로 대표되는 황인에 백인이 당할 수 있다고 말이죠. 이 황화론은 긴 시간 동안 (중국 생각하면 지금도?) 여러 이유로 나타났는데, 청일-러일전쟁에서 일본이 승리한 것도 이유였습니다. 물론 이정도 준비로도 일본군은 큰 피해를 입었지만요. 소총, 기관총, 대포의 발전 덕분에요. 안 그래도 방어측이 유리한 요새 공격인데 이런 무기들로 러시아군이 압도적으로 유리했으니까요. 일본군 지휘부의 돌격 사상과 무능도 큰 몫을 했구요. 반대로 러시아군이 공격할 때도 일본군이 같은 방식으로 큰 피해를 입힙니다. 이러면서 1차대전식의 참호전도 나타났죠. 덕분에 피해는 양국이 생각못할 정도로 커집니다. 미국 남북전쟁이 그랬듯, 이 역시 현대전이 어떤지를 보여줍니다. ------------------------------------------------------------------ 일본은 1902년부터 만주 공략을 염두에 둔 작전을 짜기 시작합니다. 협상이 결렬돼 가면서 작전은 구체화돼 갔죠. 공격은 두 방향이었습니다. 하나는 3개 사단+a로 구성된 1군이 한반도에 상륙, 압록강을 넘어 만주로 진격한다는 것이었죠. 청일전쟁 때와는 상황이 달랐습니다. 한국에도 철도가 열심히 깔리고 있었으니까요. 경인선은 완공되었고, 경부선과 경의선은 완공은 안 됐어도 충분히 쓸 수 있었으니까요. 다른 하나는 3개 사단으로 구성된 2군이 랴오둥 반도에 상륙하는 거였죠. 이후 3, 4군까지 투입해 만주의 러시아군을 잡는다는 계획이었습니다. 이걸 위해선 제해권 장악이 필수였고, 해군이 먼저 뤼순을 기습공격, 러시아 함대를 격멸을 시도합니다. +) 청일전쟁 때처럼 이 때는 선전포고가 기본은 아니었습니다. 러시아부터 다른 열강들도 필수로 하진 않았구요. 이게 국제법으로 성문화된 게 바로 헤이그 밀사사건의 헤이그 만국평화회의입니다. 일본군은 개전 전부터 한국에 상륙하고 있었습니다. 러시아군도 그 사실을 알고 있었죠. 이미 일본의 항구에 병력이 집결하고 있다는 것부터 말이죠. 태평양(=극동) 함대가 보강됐고, 추가 파병을 계획했으며, 1월 말부터는 전투태세에 돌입했습니다. 하지만 역시 해군의 기습은 생각 못 했습니다.  뤼순(여순)항. 방어에 유리하겠죠? 반면 일본에선 여기에 사활이 걸려 있었습니다. 제해권 장악과 뤼순 점령 말이죠. 그게 안 되면 최소한 무력화라도 시켜야 했죠. 2월 4일, 러시아 함대가 뤼순의 외항에 정박해 있다는 첩보가 입수됩니다. 이럴 때 잡아야 했죠. 두번째로 연합함대가 만들어집니다.  연합함대 사령장관, 도고 헤이하치로 중장은 6일 함장들을 모아 회의를 열고, 명령을 내립니다. 방식은 수뢰정과 구축함을 중심으로 한 야습이었죠. +) 어뢰, 기뢰, 폭뢰를 합쳐서 수뢰라 합니다. 한국에선 어뢰정을 기본으로 쓰는데 일본에서는 수뢰정이라 쓰더군요. 그런데 러일전쟁 때 번역을 다 수뢰정이라고 하네요. 다른 이유가 있는진 모르겠는데 여기 맞춰 쓸게요.  이 때 도고의 신임을 받아 참모로 함께한 이가 아키야마 사네유키 소좌(소령)입니다. 러일전쟁을 통해 유명해졌죠. 소설, 드라마 언덕 위의 7일, 도고가 이끄는 1함대가 출격합니다. 가던 중 분함대를 제물포로 보냈고, 8일 오후 수뢰정을 둘로 나눠 뤼순과 다롄(대련)으로 투입했죠.  러시아의 전함과 순양함에는 어뢰를 막을 방어철망이 있었습니다. 하지만 태평양함대 사령관 스타르크 제독은 스크류에 철망이 감길 수 있고 함대 출동에 시간을 잡아먹는다는 것 때문에 이걸 쓰는 걸 거부합니다. 그것뿐만이 아니었죠. 그 날이 성모 마리아를 기념해 이름이 마리아인 사람을 축하해주는 날이었고, 스타르크의 부인이 마리아였습니다. 장교들은 이 파티에 참가했고, 수병들도 많이 하선해 있었죠. 경계를 하곤 있었지만, 군함을 발견해도 보고는 하되 공격하지 말라는 명령이 내려집니다. 덕분에 완벽한 기습이 되었죠. 일본군은 이런 러시아군을 공격합니다. 어뢰에 이은 포격을 통해 러시아군에 큰 피해를 줘야 했습니다.
