인간은 세상을 살아가면서, 지속적으로 어떤 '사실에 대한 평가'(이하 '판단-해석')을 하기를 요구받습니다. 그리고 또 기본적으로 인간은 어떤 판단-해석을 하기를 원합니다. 그런데 어떤 사람들은, '사실이 되는 원재료'(이하 '사실-재료') 자체로부터 판단-해석이 자연적으로 도출될 거라 생각합니다. 오산입니다. 지금의 고도화된 학문적 지식에 기반하여, 전문가들은 자신의 전문분야에서 일반인들의 상식이 얼마나 믿을 수 없는가를 여실히 알고 있습니다. 돌을 100날 굴려본 사람이라도 그 사람이 그 돌에 대해 F=ma라는 뉴턴방정식을 세울 수 있는 게 아니지요. 책을 100날 읽어서 자신이 능숙하게 책을 읽는다고 해도 그 사람이 자신의 경험만으로 올바른 독해 이론을 만들어낼 수는 없는 거죠. 따라서, '사실-재료'로부터 '판단-해석'이 자연적으로 도출될 수 있지 않기 때문에, 세계적 석학들이 그렇게 오랜 시간 많은 아이디어를 내고 많은 소통을 해서 간신히 얻은 지금의 학문적 업적을 아주 철저히 무시하고 자기의 상식을 믿는 것이 옳다고 보지 않습니다. 충분한 올바른 선지식-선경험이 있지 않는 한, 아무리 많은 '사실-재료'를 겪어봤자 그 '판단-해석'의 신뢰도가 보장되기 힘듭니다. 개인적으로, '너만의 주체적 생각'을 강조하는 것 자체는 좋습니다. 하지만, 여기에 필히 어떤 전제가 따라붙어야 하는데, '너만의 주체적 생각을 하더라도, 항상 너의 생각이 다른 여러 가치관을 가진, 넓은 spectrum의 사람들에게 평가받아야 한다'라는 겁니다. 사람의 생각은 항상 평가받아야 합니다. (다만 그 평가의 기준이 합리적이어야 하고, 공정해야 하고, 다양해야 하고, 사람을 존중하는 성격이어야 하는 것은 신경써야 하겠죠.) 이것은 일방적으로 그 평가에 종속된다는 것을 의미하는 것이 아닙니다. 단지, 아주 강한 참고를 한다는 거죠. 사람이 혼자 방에 틀어박혀서 하나의 글에만 집중해서 생각해야 할 때도 있습니다. 자신만의 생각을 다듬고 계발하기 위해서요. 하지만, 이 과정만 있으면 안 되고, 항상 합리적인 생각을 가진 사람들과 소통해야 합니다. 그들의 의견을 경청해야 합니다. 저는 '똥고집'을 좋아하지 않아요. 혼자서만 골똘히 연구해서 어떤 창의적인 훌륭한 결과물을 내어놓았다? 물론 역사적으로 그런 사례가 엄청나게 많은 것은 사실이지만, 그런 식으로 혼자 연구하면 '유사의학' '국뽕사관' '재야과학(? 이런 표현이 있나)' 등등 망상이 나올 가능성이 훨씬 더 높아요. '외부의 input을 받지 않는 100% 독립상태'란 애초에 머릿속으로만 그려질 수 있는 망상일 뿐입니다. 그리고 그것은 또한 바람직하지도 않은 개념이구요. 많은 다양한 '사실-재료'를 접해야 하고, 또 이를 올바로 평가하기 위해 많은 다양한 합리적인 '판단-해석'을 수용해야 하고(학문적 논의의 경우, 되도록 주류 학계에 있는 사람들의 그것을 수용해야), 또 멍청하지 않은 혹은 멍청해지지 않으려는 사람들과 서로 소통하고 그들의 의견을 경청해야 합니다. 이것이 혼자만의 멍청한 생각에 빠지지 않는 길입니다. * 수박이두통에게보린님에 의해서 티타임 게시판으로부터 게시물 복사되었습니다 (2016-07-25 09:49) * 관리사유 : 추천 게시판으로 복사합니다.
