우주세기 건담을 쭈욱 보고 있습니다. (건담 오리진은 참으로 잘 만들었더군요) 그런데 계속 궁금한게 있더라구용. 소수의 모빌슈츠에게 격파당하는 폭죽 같은 전함들을 보고 있자니, 그 전함을 건조하는 데에 들어간 막대한 예산, 탑승한 수많은 승무원 등등을 생각하니 매번 눈앞이 깜깜해집니다. 찾아보니 화이트 베이스에 승무원이 평시 128~225명, 최대 500명까지도 수용이 가능하다고 나온던데, 그와 비슷한 급의 전함들이 연방이고 지온이고 서로 간의 에이스 파일럿들에게 심심하면 터져나가니 이런 생각이 듭니다. '애초에 우주전함이라는 무기체계가 발달하면 안 되는 거 아닌가?' 현실에서 온갖 최첨단 기술이 집약된 3배 빠른 폭격기에, 헬멧에다가 뿔 달고 다니는 괴짜 엘리트 파일럿이 세계 각국의 항공모함을 전투 한번에 4~5척, 전쟁 기간 동안 수십 척을 말아서 비벼 먹고 다니면 아무도 항공모함 같은 목적을 수행하는 거대 함선은 가성비상 건조할 시도조차 하지 않을 것 같습니다. 이미 완벽하게 무너진 무기체계니까요. 태양계라는 무지막지하게 넓은 전장, 극소수의 에이스 파일럿이야 적당히 비대칭 전력이라 넘어가기, 로봇이 나와야 하는데 혼자 싸돌아 다닐 수는 없으니 격납고 달고 다니는 전함은 넣자, 애니잖아~ 등등의 이유로 적당히는 납득이 갑니다만......... 이 마음속 깊은 곳에서 우러나오는 불합리함과 일순간에 증발해버리는 소중한 인명에 대한 제 안타까움을 어찌할 도리가 없었습니다. 뭔가 제가 빠뜨리거나 간과한 요소가 있을까요? 즉, 건담에서 우주전함이라는 무기체계가 계속 유지될 개연성 있는 이유로는 어떤 게 있을까요? 참고로 저는 건담 이번에 처음 봤습니다. 밀덕도 아니며, 전쟁을 무서워하는 쫄보입니다. 감사합니다.
