이 책도 좋습니다.
위의 두 책은 요즘 핫한 과학자들이 아니라 옛날에 핫했던 과학자들, 이미 교과서에 이름 한 줄 정도 있는 사람들이 쓴 에세이 모음입니다. 말씀하신 질문들을 전문가 입장에서 대중들에게 설명하는 책인데 결코 수준이 떨어지진 않습니다.
사실 인지과학, 심리학, 진화심리학 같은 분야의 최근 베스트셀러들은 어느 정도 대학교 1,2학년의 교양을 갖추고 읽어야 제대로 이해할 수 있다고 봅니다. 기존의 논리학이나 공리주의 위주의 도덕에 관한 어떤 뒤집기를 시도하는 것들이 대부분이기 때문에 어느 정도 기초가 없다면 어떤 부분이 새로운 것인지 알기 힘들거든요. 대충 칸트가 뭔 소리를 했구나 용어나 기본 개념 몇 개는 알아야 재밌는 거죠. 클래시컬한 것들을 먼저 이해하면 좋은데 대학 커리큘럼이나 출판 시장이 그렇진 않죠. 개인적으로 그런 부분이 부족한 것 때문에 [정의란 무엇인가]가 그렇게 잘 팔렸다고 생각하고요. (칸트를 그렇게 쉽게 설명하는 교양서가 국내에 그동안 없었던 것이고 칸트를 쉽게 설명해주는 강의가 대학교에 부족했던 것이겠죠.)

이 책도 좋습니다.
위의 두 책은 요즘 핫한 과학자들이 아니라 옛날에 핫했던 과학자들, 이미 교과서에 이름 한 줄 정도 있는 사람들이 쓴 에세이 모음입니다. 말씀하신 질문들을 전문가 입장에서 대중들에게 설명하는 책인데 결코 수준이 떨어지진 않습니다.
사실 인지과학, 심리학, 진화심리학 같은 분야의 최근 베스트셀러들은 어느 정도 대학교 1,2학년의 교양을 갖추고 읽어야 제대로 이해할 수 있다고 봅니다. 기존의 논리학이나 공리주의 위주의 도덕에 관한 어떤 뒤집기를 시도하는 것들이 대부분이기 때문에 어느 정도 기초가 없다면 어떤 부분이 새로운 것인지 알기 힘들거든요. 대충 칸트가 뭔 소리를 했구나 용어나 기본 개념 몇 개는 알아야 재밌는 거죠. 클래시컬한 것들을 먼저 이해하면 좋은데 대학 커리큘럼이나 출판 시장이 그렇진 않죠. 개인적으로 그런 부분이 부족한 것 때문에 [정의란 무엇인가]가 그렇게 잘 팔렸다고 생각하고요. (칸트를 그렇게 쉽게 설명하는 교양서가 국내에 그동안 없었던 것이고 칸트를 쉽게 설명해주는 강의가 대학교에 부족했던 것이겠죠.)
