| Subject | 30 년 간 의학은 어느 정도 발전한 건가요? |

평소에 종종 제가 노년이 될 무렵인 3~40년 후에는 의료기술이 어느 정도로 발전해 있을까 라고 생각해 보곤 하는데요. 원래 과학기술이나 그런 것들도 시간과 정비례해서 발전하지는 않듯이 (갑자기 확 발전하는 경우도 있으니까요) 의학부분도 그럴 수도 있으니 미래에 어떻게 변할 것이다라고 추측하기보단 과거와 현재가 어느 정도로 변했나를 알고 대강 그 정도로 변하지 않을까 예상하는 게 더 단순하게 와닿지 않을까 싶어서요. 일상생활에서 일반인들이 접할 수 있는 것들, 예를 들어, TV 의 경우 30년 전에 그 두껍고 작은 브라운관 티비에서 이젠 동전 두께(?)의 큰 UHDTV 같은 게 나왔고 컴퓨터 역시 가정에선 플로피디스크를 쓰던 그린컴퓨터에서 지금은 당시와 비교도 안되는 스펙의 컴퓨터와 온라인 문화... 그리고 스마트폰이 생겼자나요. 게임 역시 그린컴퓨터나 8비트 게임기에서 돌아가던 것들에 비하면 지금의 게임들 그래픽 수준에 비교하면 천양지차구요. 그런데, 의학 부분은 의료계 종사자가 아니고, 본인이나 가족이 아픈 부분이 아니면 30년 정도 전의 과거와 현재의 의료기술 차이나 혹은 그 당시엔 사망하거나 고생할 질병이 지금은 무난하게 넘어간다거나 하는 등의 예시를 잘 알기가 힘들더라구요, 197~80년초반의 사람들이 2015년인 지금에 왔을 때 의학이나 의료 기술이 이렇게나 발전했다니~ 라고 생각하게 할 만한 것들은 어떤 것들이 있을까요? 일반인 기준에서 제일 충격적인 건 피임약하고 CT일 겁니다. 특히 3D CT같은 거 보여주면 기절할 거에요. 전공이 생물학 관련쪽이라면 유전학과 의학의 접점이 90년대 초중반에 확고해졌으니까 그 부분에서 충격을 받을 수도 있고... 70년대 초반 사람이라면 알벤다졸(쉽게 말하면 지금 먹는 구충제)도 꽤 충격일 겁니다. 저는 어려서 잘 모르지만 아재들 어렸을 때는 분변검사하고 걸리면 구충제 한 웅큼씩 먹고 그랬는데 지금은 약 한 알이면 다 되니... 아니면 위암같은 것도 있겠네요. 내시경해서 발견하고 조기면 수술없이 내시경으로 보면서 떼도 99% 정도가 재발없이 사니까...
