개발 일을 하고 있습니다. 어찌어찌 10년 정도 되었네요. 회사도 그래도 비교적 양질의 직장이라고 생각되는 곳을 다니고 있습니다. 개발 하시는 분들이 많이 오고 싶어 하는 회사입니다. 저도 어렵게 어렵게 들어왔구요. 회사는 좋습니다. 급여나 복지 같은 것들은 상당히 만족하는 편입니다. 지금껏 이직을 꽤 많이 해봤는데 그동안 다녀봤던 + 들어봤던 직장 중에는 제일 좋은 편에 속합니다. 근데 회사가 싫습니다. 첫번째로, 일단 일이 재미가 없습니다. 이게 무슨 배부른 소리냐 싶으실 수도 있는데 저한테는 직무 만족도가 상당히 중요한 요인이라서요. 어려서부터 개발 쪽을 좋아해왔고 운좋게 덕업일치가 될 수 있는 직업을 갖게 되어서 업도 코딩이요, 제1 취미도 코딩입니다. 기분이 울적하면 코드를 짭니다. 공부를 하고 경험을 쌓을 수록 내 역량이 향상되고 인사이트가 늘어나는 기분이 좋습니다. "무엇인가에서 전문가가 되려면 1만 시간을 투자해야 한다"는 말이 있는데요. 그만큼 꾸준한 노력을 기울여야 한다는 뜻일텐데 제게는 1만 시간을 투자하는 일이 일종의 즐거운 일이었습니다. 현실세계의 요구조건을 머리속에서 논리로 정리하고 이를 코드로 변환하는 과정이 즐겁습니다. 그 결과로 눈에는 보이지 않지만 애초 요구사항을 만족하는 소프트웨어를 내놓는 과정에서 만족감과 뿌듯함을 느낍니다. 지저분한 코드를 깔끔하고 가독성있게 정리하는 과정에서 큰 만족을 얻습니다. 근데 지금 회사로 이직한 뒤로 이러한 즐거움이 상당한 수준으로 반감되었습니다. 코드를 직접 다루는 절대적인 시간 자체도 줄어들었고 그렇게 다루는 코드 자체도 재미없는 내용입니다. 게다가 기술 외적으로 다뤄야 하는 업무들의 양이 많다보니까 일이 상당히 재미없어져버렸습니다. 두번째로, 팀 문화가 싫습니다. 팀 문화가.... 상당히 개인주의적입니다. 메신저를 통해서던, 점심시간이나 하다못해 흡연타임에도 서로 사담을 거의 나누지 않습니다. 물론 서로 개인적 친분이 있는 고인물들끼리는 나눕니다. 하지만 그건 일부 개개인의 현상이고 팀 전체로 보면 서로 사담을 나누면서 정서적 거리감을 줄이는 모습이 전혀 보이지 않습니다. 간단히 말해 "일만 합니다." 경험해보지 못한 분들은 좋아보일 수도 있는데 이게 뉴비 입장에서는 상당히 어려운 문화입니다. (신입이던 경력직이던) 회사에 처음 들어와서 분위기도 모르고, 업무도 모르고, 사람들도 모르는데 뭔가를 물어보기가 상당히 어렵습니다. 팀 분위기를 풀어주는 분위기 메이커도 없구요. 먼저 나서서 말이라도 챙겨주는 사람도 없습니다. 각자가 알아서 그냥 자기몫을 하는 분위기 입니다. 아직 1인분을 제대로 못하는 입장에서는 상당히 고역입니다. 조그만 어려움에도 숨이 턱턱 막힙니다. 결국 정리하면, 일과 사람, 두 가지 문제 때문에 회사와 업무에 정을 못붙이고 있습니다. 페이스북 보다가 채용공고 보이면 괜히 눈길이 한 번씩 가곤 합니다. 다른 조직으로 이동을 해볼까 싶다가도 다른 곳도 비슷한 분위기려니 싶기도 하고. 이직을 하자니 급여나 복지 면에서 지금 이상으로 받을 수 있는 곳을 찾기가 쉬울까 하는 걱정이 앞섭니다. 심적으로 너무 괴로워서 지난주에는 정신과 심리상담을 예약했습니다. 상담은 경험이 전혀 없는데 조만간 경험해볼 수 있을 것 같습니다. * 토비님에 의해서 AMA으로부터 게시물 이동되었습니다 (2022-09-01 14:32) * 관리사유 : 질게로 이동합니다.
