이를 테면 아래와 같은 기사를 읽을 때 말이에요, https://www.independent.co.uk/voices/trump-address-news-conference-election-biden-b1627261.html?utm_content=Echobox&utm_medium=Social&utm_source=Facebook&fbclid=IwAR3WEVdXrK0y6dl8xLFAKokQm9dF50vfmti_SDthAYKI7PWT0LOYhtITAko#Echobox=1604624559 영상이 소리와 함께 자동재생이 되는데 스크롤을 내려 영상이 가려지면 소리도 들리지 않게 됩니다. 그러더니 잠시 후에 조그마한 화면으로 다시 떠서 소리와 함께 영상을 계속 보여줍니다. 그 조그만 화면의 X마크를 눌러 끄고 다시 영상으로 올라가 재생되는 걸 보고 듣고 나서 스크롤을 내려 버리면 영상도 안 보이고 소리도 안 들리고 작은 화면이 다시 뜨지도 않아요. 이런 기술은 어떤 원리에 의해 실현되는 건가요? 페이스북 스트리밍을 따라갈 때도 스크롤을 어느정도 내려 버리면 소리도 멈추고 영상재생도 멈춥니다. 이건 경우에 따라 화면이 한쪽 구석에서 새로 떠 계속 영상이 재생될 때도 있고 그러지 않고 그냥 스크롤하니까 소리랑 같이 사라지는 경우도 있어요. 또 영상을 잘 보다가 새로운 창을 눌러 버리면 스마트하게도 소리가 또 사라집니다. 영상과 소리가 재생이 되는 건 내가 영상을 컴퓨터 스크린의 거의 한 가운데 아니면 적당히 가운데에 두고 있을 때에만 가능하다는 얘기인데요. 이걸 컴퓨터가 어떻게 아나요? 이렇게 질문하는 것이 맞는지 모르겠어요. 영상을 담고 있는 그 네모난 규격이 컴퓨터 화면에서 제법 벗어나 버렸다는 걸 스스로 어떻게 인지하나요? 이 질문도 매우 스튜핏할 수 있지만 어떻게 물어봐야 할 지 잘 모르겠어요. 웹브라우저에 보면 웹페이지에게 "지금 웹페이지를 어디쯤 표시하고 있어"라고 알려주는 기능이 있습니다. 웹브라우저는 자기가 화면을 표시하고 있기 때문에 현재 화면이 어디쯤 위치해있고 무엇이 어디에 있는지를 모두 알 수 있죠. 이걸 웹페이지에게 알려주면 웹페이지에 탑재된 프로그램(자바스크립트로 작성되어 있습니다)이 동작해서 필요한 동작을 수행합니다.
