A씨는 지난 3월 천안 서북구 부대동의 한 삼거리에서 횡단보도를 건너는 17살 고등학생 B군을 시속 130km로 치었으나 아무런 구호 조치 없이 현장을 벗어났고, 당시 혈중알코올농도는 0.119%로 면허취소 수치였던 것으로 드러났다. 음주 운전이란 술에 취한 상태에서 자동차 등을 운전하는 행위를 말하며, 음주 운전을 한 경우 이로 인한 사고가 발생하지 않았다고 하더라도 도로교통법 위반으로 별도의 처벌을 받게 된다. 우리나라 도로교통법 제44조 제1항에는 누구든지 술에 취한 상태에서 자동차 등을 운전하여서는 아니 된다고 규정되어 있어 만약 음주 운전을 저지르게 된다면 관련 법안에 의해 무거운 처벌을 피할 수 없게 된다. 특히, 음주 운전과 더불어 뺑소니 혐의까지 적용된다면 처벌은 더욱 무거워져 심각성이 커지는데, 피해자의 상태에 따라 수위는 달라지게 된다. 상해에 그쳤을 경우라면 1년 이상의 유기징역 혹은 5백만 원 이상 3천만 원 이하의 벌금을, 나아가 사망한 경우라면 5년 이상의 징역 또는 최대 무기징역까지도 내려질 수 있어 주의가 필요하다. 더불어 음주운전 뺑소니는 형사적 처분과 함께 행정처분도 부과되므로 많은 제약을 받게 되는 불이익이 발생한다. 음주운전에 뺑소니로 13년. 흠.... 부족해 보이지 않나요?? 이게 2024년 개선된 음주운전 처벌 기준이라고 하는데 흠...
