(중략) 시안에 따르면 2028학년도 수능부턴 새 교육과정에 따라 대수, 미적분Ⅰ, 확률과 통계만 시험을 치른다. 주로 이과생이 응시하는 ‘미적분Ⅱ’와 ‘기하’는 수능 출제 범위에서 빠지는 것이다. 교육부는 수능의 변별력이 떨어질 것을 우려해 ‘미적분Ⅱ’와 ‘기하’를 심화수학으로 신설하고, 원하는 학생만 응시하는 절충안을 국교위에 제시했다. 그러나 두 달여의 논의 끝에 국교위는 심화수학을 도입하지 않기로 결정했다. (후략) 기초 부족으로 입학부터 고생한 입장에서 이 결정은 상당히 우려됩니다. 고등학교에서 잘하진 못했지만 미적분, 기하 배우고 대학교에서 운 좋게 제대로 재교육을 받았는데도 전공에서의 응용에서 크게 고생했거든요. 성적의 우위를 어떻게든 가려야하는 시스템에서 범위를 좁힌다고 의도대로 사교육을 통제한다? 그럴리가요. 대신 '더럽다.'는 문제가 나오겠지요. 깊지는 않더라도 전공에서 관련 개념을 써먹을 때 약간이나마 이해하면서 역량을 키울 수 있는 것... 이런 방향으로 갔으면 좋았을 거라고 생각합니다.
