이제 와서 이야기지만 정모일인 11월 17일의 시작부터 저는 뭔가 많이 다사다난했습니다. 오전 8시. 회사에 안 나가는 날엔 보통 이 시간에 안 깨는데 일찍 깨어서 인터넷 뉴스를 보니 혜경궁 김씨 뉴스로 온통 도배입니다. PGR에는 그 동안 혜경궁 김씨에 대해 못했던 이야기를 간결히 담아 글을 올리고 홍차넷에는 타임라인과 뉴스게시판에 뉴스를 간단히 올립니다. 똑같은 글을 복사해서 쓸 수도 있지만, 그러기는 왠지 싫었습니다. 뭐 어쨌거나 평소보다 이르게 잠을 깨어 정신이 조금 산란한 상태입니다. 아침부터 흉흉한 소식을 만나 좀 찜찜하지만, 집 밥으로 아침을 먹고, 샤워하고 면도하고 옷 갖춰 입고 집을 나서려 합니다. 그런데 가는 날이 장날이라고, 다른 건 다 있는데 지갑이 안 보입니다. 약 15~20분쯤 여유있게 나서려는 계획이 다 틀어졌습니다. 약 20분 가량을 찾아도 지갑이 안 나와서 늦게 생겼고 저는 선택을 해야 했습니다. 유사시 여윳돈 찾기가 좀 고달파지기야 하겠지만 카드가 한 장 따로 있어서 교통수단 이용과 출발에 지장은 없습니다. 어쩔 수 없이 위험을 감수하고 지갑이 없는 채로 집을 나섭니다. 내릴 역은 명동역. 약 2주 전부터 바뀐 판교 출근길의 첫 번째 환승역인 충무로역보다 한 역을 더 갑니다. 지하철은 다행히 잘 잡아 탔습니다. 그런데 아침에 리듬이 깨진 것 때문이었을까요. 오는 동안 뱃속이 내내 안정되지 않았습니다. 결국 약속장소로 가는 도중 소화제를 사 마시느라 정시보다 정모 장소에 약 5분이 늦었습니다. 1차 장소 '마실' 계단을 올라가려다 운영진 Toby 님과 마주쳐서 반갑게 인사를 나눴습니다. 그리고 아직까지도 단순노동이 계속되고 있는 현장에 투입(?) 됩니다. 처음엔 도구가 없어서 아무 일도 못 도왔지만 스티커 판을 붙이는 작업을 돕고는 자리에 앉아서 기념품을 받아들고 명함 교환을 합니다. 처음엔 한 장씩 주고받았다가 두 장씩 주고받으며 서로의 그림과 닉네임, 닉네임 수식어를 동시에 익힙니다. 그리고 저는 명함을 얼추 주고받은 다음 오늘 호평이었던 홍루이젠 샌드위치 하나가 포함된 다과를 가져와 정말정말 오랜만에 과자가 포함된 간단한 식사를 맛있게 먹었지만...... 기쁨은 오래 가지 않았습니다. 샌드위치와 커피를 먹고 마시면서 홍루이젠 샌드위치를 모르던 저의 무지함을 깨닫고 맛을 즐기던 저는, 얼마 안 가 제가 엄청난 실수를 했다는 것을 깨닫고 머릿속이 새하얘졌습니다. 대학교 1학년 1학기 때 거의 백지를 내다시피 해 학사경고를 받았던 미분적분학 시험지를 받았을 때 이후 오랜만에 느껴보는 멘탈붕괴 현상. 그걸 겪은 이유는...... 조편성 이후에 만난 첫 게임이 "이름 쌓기" 스피드 조별 게임이었기 때문입니다. 이름 쌓기 게임. 조원 A,B,C가 있다면 A는 A의 이름을 대고 B는 A의 이름을 댄 다음 B의 이름을, C는 A와 B의 이름을 댄 다음 C의 이름을 대면 되는 게임이지요. 그리고 이 게임에서 각 조는 사람들의 닉네임과 수식어를 같이 외워야 했습니다. 그런데 말입니다. 제 명함에 쓰여 있는 닉네임 수식어는, 다름아닌, WOW를 한 사람들이라면 한 번쯤은 들어 봤을 명대사. "오게 두어라, 서리한이 굶주렸다"의...... 그것도 '영문 원문'이었습니다. 옮기면, "Let them come. Frostmourne hungers!!"죠. 원래대로라면 이런 긴 수식어를 가진 조원은 다른 여섯 명을 외우는 식으로 막판에 가야 했지만 제가 멘탈이 너무 나가서 버벅거리는 바람에 저는 중간에 위치하게 되었습니다. 민폐도 이런 민폐가 없습니다. 아니. 상식적으로 제 수식어를 다른 조원이 어떻게 외워서 스피드 조별 게임을 하나요?-_- 그런데 처음엔 '이거 어떻게 발음하느냐'고 난감해 하시던 분이, 그걸 제대로 외우시더군요. 그것도 세 분이나. 그리고 아주아주 다행히. 저는 제 앞의 세 분인 Lemonducks님, naru님, 하얀님의 수식어와 닉네임을 겨우 말하고 제 수식어를 리치 왕의 위엄이고 뭐고 모두 갖다버리고 틀리지 않게 읊었다는 것만으로 안도해야 했습니다. 하도 당황스러우셨는지 사회를 맡으신 파란아게하님이 다시 한번 확인을 거치시더군요.;; 결국 우분투님이 대표선수로 나선 결승전에서 저희 조가 이겼습니다만. 그것은 어디까지나 저라는 짐덩이를 멱살잡고 끌고 간 우분투님을 비롯한 팀원들의 덕입니다. 아. 그리고 기린 잠옷은 업계에서는 포상일 수도 있습니다(응?) 다음으로 초상화 게임. 그림을 보고 즐길 줄만 알지 그리지 못하는 젬병인 저는 인물화(?)를 부위별로 그리는 과제에서 또 헛발질을 거하게 합니다.-_- 그런데 한 가지 이상한 건 얼굴 윤곽, 눈, 코, 입, 머리카락 등을 다 다른 분이 그리셨는데 제 초상화는 얼추 비슷한 분위기로 나왔더군요. 신기한 일입니다. 네. 아무리 생각해도 정말 저 조원 분들 잘 만났습니다. 다른 조였으면 저 죽었습니다.-_-;;; 게임 이후 소모임별 이야기를 합니다. 소설과 문학에 대해 이야기하는데 소설과 문학이 아마도 주제 선택에서 살아남은 주제 중 가장 인기가 없었나 봅니다. 그러나 총체적 난국이 될 뻔한 주제는 서서히 참여하신 분들이 하나하나 이야기를 꺼내면서 무르익습니다. 무라카미 하루키를 비롯한 여러 작가들의 이야기가 나오다가 갑자기 제가 이야기한 게임 매뉴얼 집필한 후 그 돈으로 태국 여행을 갔다는 이야기를 기점으로 이야기의 주제는 갑자기 여행이 됩니다(?) ......그렇게 문학 반, 여행 반 이야기를 하고 다시 홀에 모입니다. 벚문님의 실시간 AMA를 시작으로 스피치가 시작됩니다. 진행 톤으로 바뀐 우분투님의 즉석 스피치, 낭독에 대한 이야기를 한 하얀님의 스피치, 향수 이야기, 뮤지컬 이야기 등등. 어느 것 하나 버릴 것 없는 스피치가 나왔고, 그리고 저도 제 자신의 삶과 바람을 드러내는 것을 주제로 개인적인 이야기들을 하는 시간을 가지며, 미약하게나마 발을 담갔습니다. 스피치의 주제를 제 개인적인 이야기로 한 이유는. 옆 사이트에서야 제가 악명이 높지만 홍차넷에서는 한달 남짓 된 신입회원이므로 제가 이 사이트의 회원으로서 진정성을 보여드리려면 다른 어떤 전문 주제를 말하기보다는 제 자신을 드러내는 것이 우선이라 생각했습니다. 내심 많이 떨리기도 했고, 사실 마이크를 쥔 손에 힘이 떨어지지 않을까 마음을 졸였지만 제 스피치 의도를 참석하신 분들께서 잘 받아들여 주신 것 같은 느낌이 들어 정말 다행이었습니다. 스피치가 모두 끝나고 1차 장소 '마실'에서의 모임이 끝납니다. 약간의 뒷정리 이후 2차 장소인 '라운지유'로 왔습니다. 정문과 후문에 '인터넷 커뮤니티 행사 지하 1층'(음?)이라고 붙여놓은 것을 보고 대체 무슨 말을 해야 할지 묘한 기분이 들었습니다. 너무 시간에 맞춰서 도착한 탓(?)에 음식이 정시인 다섯 시에 나오기까지 시간이 좀 길었고 그 동안 약간은 어색하기도 했지만 그 어색함도 술과 음식으로 희석되었습니다. 음식의 종류는 가짓수가 적긴 했으나 나쁜 편은 아니었고, 채소를 먹을 수 있는 것도 괜찮았습니다. 다만 음식의 분위기나 느낌이 '디너'라기보다는 '술안주'에 가까운 느낌인데 이것도 크게 나쁘지는 않았습니다. 45분마다 진행되는 강제 자리 바꾸기. 그리고 스피드 퀴즈. 저는 다행히 우분투님이 협찬한 상품의 주인이 되었습니다. 다른 분들은 탐라(타임라인)권, 닉네임 변경권 등을 비롯하여 다양한 현물 상품을 받아가셨습니다. 평소에 반응 속도가 영 느리던 편인 제가 퀴즈 하나를 맞춘 것은 말 그대로 천행이었습니다. 홍차넷에 오게 된 이유, 저는 모르던 분들이 제 글 잘 읽고 있다고 하는 이야기, 다른 사이트 이야기, 제 건강을 염려하는 이야기, 동종 업계 사람들과의 이야기 등등. 그리고 도중에 오신 분들과 수시로 벌어졌던 명함 교환. 그런 가운데 많은 분들을 만나고 많은 이야기를 할 수 있어서 좋았습니다만 사실 2차 때에 술이 좀 들어간 이후 염려했던 대로 컨디션이 조금씩 안 좋아지는 상태이기도 했고 제가 좀 더 적극적으로 찾아가지 못해 생각보다 이야기를 거의 나누지 못한 분들이 좀 있어 정말 아쉬웠습니다. 하지만 그럼에도 불구하고 백주 수정방 반 잔은 받을만 한 술이었습니다. 그것만으로도 충분했을 정도로요. 그리고 1차에서 잘 먹었던 홍루이젠 샌드위치가 예상을 깨고 남는 바람에 조금 가져갈 수 있었던 것도 좋은 일이었습니다. 그 샌드위치는 어머니께서 밤에 드실 예정입니다. 9시가 되어 정모의 공식적인 자리가 끝나고. 오프모임을 가시는 자리에 따라가고 싶었지만 정신이 좀 산란하고 오른쪽 손에도 힘이 좀 안 들어가는 듯 해서, 부득이하게 정모 이후 자리에 가지 않는 게 좋겠다 싶어 먼저 들어갔습니다. 타임라인에도 썼지만 오늘 만나신 많은 분들과 더 이야기 나누지 못한 것이 매우 아쉽습니다. 오늘 만난 2조 조장 우분투님을 포함하여 저를 멱살잡고 하드캐리하신 조원 분들에게 특별한 감사를 드리고 그 외에 만난 많은 분들께도 감사 드립니다. 정모를 준비하신 Toby님 및 사회를 맡으신 파란아게하님과 진행을 맡으신 분들의 수고에도 감사 드립니다. 저는 비록 무대에서 홀로 빛날 수 없는 사람이지만, 그래도 정모에 참석하신 여러분들과 함께 있어 한 줄기 빛을 낼 수 있었다고 생각합니다. 아름다운 밤입니다. 모두들 행복한 밤 보내세요. 그리고 다시 만나기를 기원합니다. - The xian - P.S. 일어나 보니 너무 많은 추천과 감사한 말들이 달려 있었습니다. 감사합니다. 댓글에 대해서는 오늘 중에 답을 해 드릴 예정입니다.
