뜬금 없지만 금요일이 된 기념으로 최근 본 영화들에 대한 짤막한 평을 해보겠습니다. 또 있던 것 같은데 터널, 밀정, 아수라 정도가 기억나네요. 1. 터널은 간단히 말해 하정우가 주인공인데 차를 타고 가다가 터널이 무너져요. 그래서 터널에 갇히는 영화입니다. 하정우 원맨쇼라는게 더테러라이브와 비슷합니다. 여담이지만 더테러라이브를 굉장히 좋게 봤습니다. 결말이 좀 싱겁고 웃기고 그런 영환데 그래도 예산 안 들이고 잘 만들었다고 봤습니다. 그런데, 생각해보니 이 영화 또한 무언가가 '붕괴되는' 그런 영화네요? 기억이 잘 나지 않는데, 하정우 감독의 작품 중 하나가 비행기 추락을 다루었던 것 같습니다. 재난으로 인한 고립 상황이라는 점에서 이 영화들 상당히 닮아있지 않나 생각합니다. 근데 이 영화에 대해서 할 말이 많이 없네요. 그래도 볼 때는 시간 가는 줄 모르고 봤습니다. 터널에 나오는 캐릭터중 가장 재밌었던 것이 장관 캐릭터입니다. 김해숙 배우. 국회의원등의 높은 사람들이 일이 터졌을 때 입는 노란 작업복을 입고 나와서 굉장히 원론적인 이야기를 하는데 사실 특정 사건과 특정 인물을 (허용된 한에서는) 꽤 노골적으로 지목하고 있는거죠. 그렇다고 엄청 나쁜 사람으로 묘사하고 있는 것은 아니고, 아무 도움 안 되는 흔한 정치인 캐릭터입니다. 마지막 장면을 보면 약간 귀엽기까지 합니다. 2. 밀정은 굉장히 많은 기대를 받은 영화죠. 그 이유는 오로지 김지운과 송강호이기 때문입니다. 근데 좋다 나쁘다를 떠나서 그 기대를 뛰어넘는 작품은 못 되는 것 같습니다. 어느 짤막한 영상을 보니 감독님이 이런 말을 하시더라구요. 암살과 달리 파란 빛깔을 띈 콜드 누아르에 가까울 것이다. 물론 암살과 같은 붉은 빛은 아니지만, 약간 푸른 빛이 감도는 붉은 빛이라고 해야 하나. 독특한 색깔을 보여주지 못하고, 이전의 일제 감정기 영화들 근처를 맴돌고 있는 느낌이었어요. 일제강점기라는 것이 하나의 관념처럼 되어버려서, 감독들도 비슷한 것만 보여주고 있는 건 아닌지, 아니면 그 시절이 상상력을 발휘하기에 좋지 못한 조건인 것은 아닌지, 생각해 봤습니다. 반어적 음악 사용(고문을 당하는 장면에서 왈츠를 튼다든지)은 분명히 작위적인 부분이었지만 엄청 나쁘지는 않았던 것 같고. 이정출이 우는 장면은 악마를 보았다에서 이병헌이 우는 장면을 연상시켰습니다. 슬픈 장면이긴 했지만 다른 처지의 다른 상황을 비슷하고 단순한 포즈로 무마하려는 것 같아 썩 훌륭해보이진 않았던 기억이에요. 개인적으로 일제강점기를 다룬 영화를 재미순으로 보자면 아가씨> 암살> 밀정 이었습니다. 3. 일단 아수라에서 정우성 연기가 크게 거슬리진 않았습니다. 그렇다고 연기가 뛰어나다는 것은 아니지만, 저렇게 욕을 서투르게 하는 형사도 있을 수 있다 생각하고 감상했습니다. 오히려 맘에 들지 않는 연기를(그러고 싶지 않음에도) 억지로 하나 꼽으라면 황정민을 고를것 같습니다. 물론 황정민은 이 영화에서도 신적인 연기를 선보이긴 하지만, 그래도 한 도시의 시장이 너무나도 신세계에 나오는 그 깡패 같았거든요. 물론 그래도 황정민은 연기천재이기 때문에 즐겁게 보긴 했습니다. 그러고보니 주지훈이 또 있네요. 대부분 연기 잘 한다고 말씀하시는데 저는 그냥 연기 못하는 허접한 아이돌인줄 알았습니다. 그냥 제 취향의 연기가 아닌가봅니다. 보는 도중에는 시간 가는 줄 모르고 본 것 같습니다. 위 세 영화중 가장 긴장감 넘치고 시간이 빨리 가는 영화였습니다. 다만 어느 정도 극이 진전되고 난 후에는, 전반부의 폭발력에 비해 후반부가 빈약하게 늘어지는 느낌을 받았습니다. 또한 감독은 조선족 깡패 캐릭터들을 만들어 영화를 끝장내버리기 위해 마구 휘두르는데 요즘 트렌드이긴 하지만 현실과도 맞지않고, 관객 입장에서는 피로감을 느낄만할 때가 왔다고 봅니다. 흠을 또 하나 잡자면 마지막 장면의 대결구도가 작위적인 것은 상품성 있는 결말을 요구하는 상업영화의 한계라고 치더라도 그 과정에서 몇몇 등장인물들이 너무나도 멍청하게 호랑이굴로 들어간다는 느낌을 받습니다. 가야해서 가는 게 아니라 감독이 가라고 해서 가는 느낌. 이런 단점은 꽤 큰 것이긴 하지만 큰 기대를 하지 않고 즐긴다면 제 값을 하는 영화였다고 생각합니다. 위 세 영화는 재미면에서 비슷했는데 굳이 부등호를 붙이자면 아수라> 터널= 밀정 정도라고 생각합니다. 물론 셋 다 수작의 범주에는 들어가기는 힘들겠구요. 특히 아수라와 밀정은, 뚜렷한 개성을 가지고 있기보다는, 이전의 어떤 영화들, 이전의 비슷한 트렌드들을 참조한 후, 그 장점들을 별다른 고민없이 조립한, 일종의 공산품 같았습니다. 대체로 요즘 영화들이 자극적이고 비슷해지는 느낌이라, 이런 부분은 아쉬움으로 남았네요. 이상입니다. 글이 다소 길어졌네요. 읽어주셔서 감사합니다. 한동안 운전할 때마다 뜨끔뜨끔 했네요.
뭔가 파려다가 상업영화 느낌 그대로 딱 끝냈습니다만, 그럼에도 저는 적당히 만족한 영화였습니다.
