* 지난 목요일에 본 터라 기억이 잘못된 부분이 있을 수도 있습니다. - 오프닝 시퀀스는 우리으 제이슨 본이 그리스의 길거리 격투장에서 파이트 하는 모습을 보여주면서 시작하지요. 이걸 그냥 본이 한 방에 상대를 K.O 시켜버리는 것으로 끝내버리는데... 우리으 맷 데이먼이 내일 모레 50이라도 아직 안 늙었다는 것을 과시하는 것마냥 유치하게 묘사된 씬이다 싶습니다. 그나마 동작이 너무 단순하다보니, 외려 늙어서 역동적인 액션 못하니까 저렇게 처리한 게 아닌가 하는 의혹이 더 강하게 들 정도죠. 덥덥이에서 골드버그나 존 시나 밀어주는 것도 아니고...  * FU 한 방이면 누구든 그냥.. <본 슈프리머시>의 오프닝 시퀀스에선 제이슨 본이 해변에서 카디오 자랑하는 달리기 하는 컷과 마리가 본이 고민을 휘갈긴 노트를 읽는 컷을 교차시키면서 본의 체력과 고뇌 양자 모두를 별 허세없이 아주 가볍게 제시했는데, 그에 비하면 요란하기만 하죠. - 아이언핸드 프로젝트가 등장하는데, 이것도 진부하다 싶습니다. <아이덴티티>에서 나온 트레드스톤이 처음이었고, 그 다음에 <슈프리머시>와 <얼티메이텀>에서 [강력 트레드스톤]이랍시고 블랙브라이어가 나왔고, 이번엔 [초강력 트레드스톤]으로 아이언핸드가 나온 것이죠. 똑같은 패턴을 몇 번째... 무슨 쥬라기 월드컵 같은 유초딩용 소년물 같죠. 돌발이슛! 초강력 돌발이슛! - 이런 식으로 이전작들의 각본을 재활용한 사례가 꽤 됩니다. 니키 파슨스(줄리아 스타일스)가 정보를 넘겨주겠다는 연락을 취하자, 본은 그리스에서 그녀와 접선하는데, 도중에 CIA의 추적을 받게되자 반정부 집회 나온 시위대 틈에 섞여서 추적을 따돌립니다. 이것은 <슈프리머시>에서 본이 베를린에서 CIA에 접선 요청을 하여 니키와 만날 때에, 터키 시위대에 섞여서 CIA의 감시를 따돌리고 니키를 잠시 납치했던 시퀀스을 재탕한 것이죠. 심지어 그때나 지금이나 접선 상대가 니키... - 그리스를 도입 배경으로 삼은 것도 빈약합니다. 굳이 왜 그리스에서 은둔하고 있었고 그리스에서 니키와 접선했는지가 작품 내적으로 명확한 이유와 필연성을 가지고 있지 않죠. 이것을 정당화시켜주는 것은 작품 외적인 이유입니다. 1) 그리스를 배경으로 삼으면 시위대가 등장해도 자연스럽고 2) 시위대가 등장하면 시의적인 세계 사회의 현황을 보여주기도 용이하고, 군중들 사이에 섞인 본과 CIA의 추격전 액션을 묘사하기도 편하기 때문이라는 것이죠. 딱 그 정도의 이유입니다. 때문에 보다 구체적으로 묘사했다면 근년 간에 '스노든'으로 대표되는 정부의 감시/통제라는 테마와 콤비네이션을 이루며 현실 관련성 및 시의성을 강화할 수 있었던 그리스의 정치 집회가 그냥 스케치처럼 스쳐지나가고 소모될 뿐입니다. '오늘도 평화나라는 중고..아니 지구롭습니다' 정도의 인상 밖에 주지 못하죠. - 이후 CIA의 추적을 받고 결국 니키가 죽게 되는데, 이것도 생각해보면 필연성이 없습니다. 니키는 자신이 죽기 직전에 본에게 제공해줘야할 자료가 저장된 USB 숨겨진 코인로커 열쇠를 던져줍니다. 그리고 이후 본은 그 열쇠로 USB 얻어내고 자연스럽게 서사가 진행되죠. 그렇다면 애초에 니키가 본과 처음으로 접촉했을 때, 잠시 뒤 다시 접촉할 것을 기약하고 CIA의 추적을 떠돌릴 필요가 없습니다. 그냥 보자마자 열쇠만 건내주고 본과 헤어졌으면 되는 것이죠. 그렇게 해도 본이 일처리 하는 데에는 아무런 지장이 없는 걸요. 따라서 이것은 본과 니키가 처음 만났다가 다시 만날 때까지 이어질 추격전 액션 시퀀스를 전개시킬 이유를 마련하기 위한 작위적인 장치라고 생각합니다. 더불어 '니키의 죽음'이라는 진부한 드라마적 요소가 추가되고요. - 누구나 떠올릴 수 있듯 니키가 죽는 것은 <슈프리머시>에서 마리(프란카 포텐테 분)가 죽는 것과 대응됩니다. '그땐 마리 죽였으니 이번엔 니키 죽이자. 4번이나 나왔는데 죽을 때 되었지' 정도의 아이디어죠. 이것도 재탕이죠. - '본'녀들은 본 때문에 꼬입니다. 마리는 고아에서 재회하자마자 얼마 뒤에 사망했고, 파멜라(조앤 앨런 분)는 해임당했고, 니키는 4번이나 출연해서 매번 본을 도와줬지만 별 보상도 없이 이번에 죽었죠. 다들 그저 조력자로 그냥 소모됩니다. 본 아니었으면 다들 잘 먹고 잘 살았을 텐데 ㅜㅠ 이놈의 본은 마성의 남자인가요? 맨날 여자들의 일방적인 헌신과 희생 덕에 살아남습니다. 심지어 이번엔 위기 상황에서 헤더가 몇 번이나 구해주죠. 이런 게 진짜 한남충...읍읍. 마치 괴도 뤼팽을 연상케하죠. 외국어 마스터에, 다방면의 능력을 가지고, 피지컬 마스터에, 종합적으로 먼치킨. 그럼에도 불구하고 의외로 허당스럽게 궁지에 몰리고, 여복에 의해 상황을 타개. 자기 과거에 대한 집착도 똑같습니다. 뤼팽은 기억하고 본은 가물가물하고 그 차이일 뿐... - 뜬금없이 아부지 이야기로 떡밥 던지는 것도 부자연스럽습니다. 이미 본 트릴로지에서 본의 기억 가지고 충분히 이야기 해서 딱히 명분이 없다보니, 아버지 이야기를 급조할 수밖에 없었던 것 같다는 인상을 줍니다. 아버지라는 소재 자체도 진부하고요. 제이슨 본 과거 가지고 언제까지 우려먹을 것인지..제이슨 본 뇌수로 곰국 끓이기도 아니고. - 덧붙여 이 아버지 썰은 이전의 설정들과도 충돌하지 않나 싶은 것이, 이미 파멜라가 <얼티메이텀>에서 본과 관련된 신상자료를 죄다 살펴본 바 있죠. 그래서 본에게 본명과 생일(물론 생일은 위장된 것이고 실제로는 트레드스톤 연구소의 주소였지만)을 알려주기도 했고요. 프로젝트 지휘자가 알버트 허쉬와 닐 다니엘스라는 것까지 나왔습니다. 이미 본의 과거에 대해 분명하게 매듭을 지었던 것이지요. 그런데 이제 와서 본의 아버지가 본의 아버지 리차드 웹이 트레드스톤을 설계했다는 이야기를 하는 것은 억지스럽지요. 그런 정보가 <얼티메이텀>에서 명시적인 컷으로 제시된 적이 없습니다. 물론 '<얼티메이텀>에서는 드러나지 않았지만 파멜라가 자료를 읽던 도중 리차드 웹에 대한 사항을 인식했다. 다만 본에게 이야기하지 않았을 뿐이다'라든가, 아니면 그냥 '파멜라가 눈이 삐어서 미처 그것만 못 찾고 넘어감^^'이라고 말할 수는 있습니다. 황당한 설명이겠습니다만. 하지만, 그렇다 한들 리차드 웹이 트레드스톤에 연관되었다면 이는 보통 민감한 일이 아닌지라 본 얼티메이텀 엔딩에서 블랙브라이어가 언론에 폭로될 때 같이 공개될 수밖에 없다고 생각합니다. 다시 말해, '제이슨 본의 아버지가 트레드스톤에 개입했다'는 자극적인 사실이 지금까지는 어떻게 잘 숨겨져왔다가 니키의 해킹에 의해서 이제서야 몇몇 소수의 핵심 인물들만 알게 된 것은 작위적인 인상을 준다는 것이죠. - CIA 국장 로버트 듀이(토미 리 존스 분)와 신임 현장 책임자인 헤더 리(알리시아 비칸데르 분)의 구도는 이전의 본 트릴로지와 매우 유사합니다. <아이덴티티>와 <슈프리머시>의 워드 애봇(브라이언 콕스 분) - <얼티메이텀>의 보슨(데이비드 스트래던 분) - <제이슨 본>의 듀이, <슈프리머시>와 <얼티메이텀>의 파멜라 - <제이슨 본>의 헤더로 바로 대응되죠. 음모를 꾸미는 높은 자리의 흑막들은 항상 존재하고, 이에 맞서 본과 협력하는 CIA의 현장 책임자가 있는 셈입니다. 물론 파멜라와 헤더는 분명 다릅니다. 파멜라는 정당성을 위해서 움직였지만, 헤더는 야심이 있고 꿍꿍이가 있지요. 하지만 이것은 '헤더도 파멜라처럼 단순한 선역으로 나오는 것은 뻔해보이니, 약간 비틀어서 나름의 속셈이 있는 인물로 설정하자'는 정도의, 1차원적인 단순성을 뒤집은 2차원적 변주에 불과합니다. 아이디어가 너무 얄팍해서 밑천이 훤히 보이죠. 한 마디로, 이전의 인물 구도를 부분적으로만 수정해서 재탕한 것입니다.  - 니키가 죽은 이후 본은 그녀에게 받은 USB의 정보를 해독하기 위해 니키를 고용하고 있던 크리스찬 다쏘라는 인물을 찾아갑니다. 제이슨 본이 그리 발이 넓지 못한 것인지 왜 다쏘가 아닌 더 신뢰할만한 인물을 찾아가지 않았는지 의문입니다만, 일단 그것은 접어두지요. 이후 다쏘가 기습하여 본과 다쏘 사이에 싸움이 벌어지고 당연히 본이 가볍게 제압하지요. 이것은 격투기나 복싱 등에서 흔히 볼 수 있는 '떡밥 매치'입니다. 단지 제이슨 본이 대인 액션 보여줄 핑계거리가 필요했고, 그 때문에 선택된 것이 그야말로 양민에 불과한 다쏘인 것이죠. 사자 우리로 염소를 던져주듯..  - USB를 해독한 본은 말콤 스미스라는 인물이 이전까지의 자신의 행적을 상세하게 알고 있다는 사실을 알게 되고, 아버지에 대한 정보를 얻기 위해 그에게 접근합니다. 그리고 듀이는 이를 막는다는 명분으로 작전을 계획하며 지휘를 헤더에게 맡기죠. 그런데, 생각해보면 듀이가 굳이 헤더에게 지휘를 맡길 이유가 없는 듯 합니다. 작중에서 듀이가 지휘권을 헤더에게 주는 이유는, 헤더가 작전을 지휘할 때 자신의 명령을 받는 암살자 어셋(벵상 카셀 분)을 투입시켜 작전을 수행하는 CIA 요원 4명 및 말콤 스미스를 살해하고 본의 소행으로 위장함으로써 직후에 본을 사살할 명분을 얻기 위한 것이죠. 여기서 과연 듀이에게는 본을 사살할 명분이 따로 필요한지가 의문입니다. 이미 니키와 본이 그리스에서 만날 때 듀이는 지휘하면서 사살 명령을 내렸고 CIA 내부에서도 그것에 아무런 이의를 표하지 않았습니다. 본은 언제 CIA가 죽여도 이상하지 않은 인물인 것이죠. 그러니 이제 와서 구태여 사살할 명분을 따로 얻을 필요가 없습니다. '명분 없이 본을 사살하면 헤더가 반발할 테니까'라고 말할 수도 있지만 애초에 헤더를 작전에서 배제했으면 생기지 않을 문제고, 헤더는 이러니저러니 해도 신참에 불과하지 듀이가 눈치봐야할 대상이 아니죠. 결국 이 과정에서 CIA 요원 네 명이 걸레짝처럼 버려지는데, CIA 요원들이 무슨 길거리 부랑자도 아니고 무리수가 크다는 생각이 들지요. 굳이 이렇게까지 해서 본을 잡을 허울 뿐인 명분을 만들 필요가 없었다는 생각이 듭니다. 이렇게 놓고 보면, '듀이와 어셋은 CIA 요원들의 목숨조차 아까워하지 않는 쇼킹한 놈들이다'라는 것을 관객에게 어필하면서 충격을 주는 '쇼'를 의도했다는 이야기 밖에 안 되지요. - 결과적으로 CIA 요원 넷과 말콤 스미스가 어셋에 의해 죽게 되고, 헤더는 무엇인가 상황이 잘못 돌아가고 있다고 판단하여 차량을 타고 직접 본을 찾아나섭니다. 그녀는 본과 조우하여 협력하게 되죠. 이것도 납득하기 어려운 것이... 1) 헤더가 본과 협력할 것을 판단하는 계기는 트레드스톤 프로젝트에 참여하여 본을 훈련시킨 알버트 허쉬가 보고서에다 '제이슨 본은 CIA로 복귀시킬 수 있다'고 소견을 적은 것을 읽었기 때문인데, 고작 보고서에 몇 마디 끼적인 것을 근거로 본을 CIA로 끌어들이려고 하는 것은 무리가 있죠. 허쉬가 본에 대해 얼마나 어느 정도로 파악하고 있는지, 그의 소견이 어느 정도로 신뢰도가 있는지 허쉬가 어떻게 판단할 수 있을까요. 게다가 허쉬의 보고서는 쓰여진 지 시일이 한참 지난 문서입니다. <본 아이덴티티>의 배경이 2002년이고 <슈프리머시>가 2004년, <얼티메이텀>이 2005년 초죠. 그런데 <제이슨 본>은 그리스 시위대가 나오는 것을 볼 때 근년임은 분명해보입니다. 즉, 알버트 허쉬의 보고서는 얼티메이텀 직전에 쓰여졌다고 쳐도 대략 10년 전에 작성된 것이라는 이야기인데, 한참 시일이 지난 몇 줄 안 되는 메모에 가까운 소견을 보고 본에 대해 이렇다 저렇다 단정짓고 방침을 정하는 것은 초딩 수준의 판단입니다. 2) 본 역시도 이상합니다. 물론 이전에 본은 인터넷으로 헤더에 대한 정보를 얻은 바도 있고, 헤더가 자신에게 문자로 CIA의 추적 방침을 알려주기도 했죠. 하지만 그것만 가지고는 헤더를 신뢰할 수 없습니다. 본 입장에서는 헤더가 자신에게 신뢰를 얻은 뒤에 더 깊숙한 함정에 빠뜨리려고 한 것인지, 진짜로 협력하려 한 건지 구분할 도리가 없습니다. 3) 이후 현장이 개판이 되고 본이 위기에 몰리게 되자, 헤더는 본을 직접 찾아 나서죠. 그런데, 이런 상황이라면 헤더는 본과 마주치자마자 총질을 당할 수도 있습니다. 본이 그런 절체절명의 상황에서 어떻게 행동할지, 자신에게 위해를 가할 마음을 품었는지 아닌지 어떻게 알 수 있을까요. 그럼에도 불구하고 본과 직접 만나 해결하겠다는 것은 맹목적인 행동이죠. 이것이 합리화되려면, 크나큰 위험을 무릅쓰더라도 반드시 헤더가 본을 손에 넣어야만 하는 크리티컬한 이유가 있어야하는데 딱히 그런 것이 없습니다. 해서 본이 헤더의 차에 올라탔을 때 헤더가 당황해서 '난 대화를 하려 했어'라고 변명하지만 본은 이미 모든 사정은 천리안으로 봤다는 듯이 쿨하게 씹어버리고 차 타고 가죠. 마치 '야 각본가가 우리 같은 편으로 정했으니까 긴 말 할 필요 없어. 말하지 알아도 알아요.'라고 말하는 듯 합니다. - 이런 식으로 상황 해결을 헤더 리가 죄다 해버립니다. 니키를 역해킹해서 멀웨어를 니키의 USB에 심어버리고, 휴대폰으로 해킹해서 파일 삭제하는 등등. 뭐 이런 거야 먼치킨 급으로 유능해서 그렇다쳐도, 본이 위기에 몰린 상황도 헤더가 막무가내로 정면돌파하든 직감으로 때려맞추든 다 타개해버리죠. 각본 쓰다가 막히고 아이디어 고갈 되어서 다음 단계로 나갈 방도가 딱히 없다 싶으면 '헤더가 자기 능력으로 해결한다'를 선택한 듯 합니다. 여성버전 John nace인 거죠. 이것은 알리시아 비칸데르를 부각시키기 위한 방편들이라고 생각합니다. 뭐, 할리우드 20대 여배우 중 손꼽히는 레벨이니 다음 시리즈와 여타 작품들을 위해서라도 밀어주고 싶기는 했겠죠. 작품 외부의 요소가 작품 내부의 질서를 무너뜨린 것입니다. - 암살자/저격수 등장도 이젠 진부한 패턴이죠. <아이덴티티>에서는 프로페서(클라이브 오웬 분), <슈프리머시>에서는 키릴, <얼티메이텀>에서는 데슈하고 파즈, 제이슨 본에서는 어셋(벵상 카셀 분). - 그나마 이번의 어셋은 이전의 인물들보다 격이 떨어집니다. 본 트릴로지에 등장한 대부분의 암살자들은 그냥 시키는대로 하는 프로였습니다. 개인 감정에 의해 움직이는 인물들이 아니었다는 거죠. 이해관계나 거창한 목적 없이 순수하게 본과의 대결만을 위해 행동하는 인물들이죠. 자연히 깔끔하게 액션과 배틀에 몰입할 수 있습니다. 그냥 게임을 수행한 것이고, 관객은 별 고민 없이 스포츠 관람 즐기듯 감상할 수 있죠. 그리고 여기서 한 단계 향상된 캐릭터가 <얼티메이텀>의 파즈입니다. <얼티메이텀>의 극후반에서, 본은 트레드스톤 연구소에서 알버트 허쉬와 만나고 자신의 정체와 성장 과정, 행적에 대해서 파악하게 된 직후, 도주하는 과정에서 이전에 이미 자신을 추적한 바 있고 자신이 한 번 목숨을 살려주기도 했던 파즈와 맞닥뜨리게 됩니다. 이때 본은 파즈에게 뇌까리죠. "날 왜 죽여야 되는지는 알고나 있나? 우리 꼴 좀 봐. 저것들이 너한테 무슨 짓을 시키는지 보라고." 그렇게 본은 파즈에게 그네들이 어떻게 꼭두각시처럼 살아가고 있는지 어필하고, 이로 인해 파즈 역시 국가와 정보기관에 의해 조종되는 자신의 처지에 회의와 자기반성을 가지게 됩니다. 그간의 킬러들은 단순히 시키는대로 프로페셔널하게 일하는 기계였고, 그것은 제이슨 본도 마찬가지였습니다. 그리고 제이슨 본이 자신의 진실과 대면하면서 자신들의 존재근거에 대해 질문을 던지고, 이것이 파즈에게도 전달이 되죠. 그리하여 정부와 첩보기관의 명령대로 살던 로보트들이 스스로와 명령을 의심할 수 있는 인물로 변화하는 과정을 자연스럽게 보여주었습니다. 그런데 이번에는 고작해야 제이슨 본에게 복수하기 위해 움직이는 인물입니다. '이 자슥이 헤까닥한 이유는 본이 블랙브라이어 폭로하는 바람에 때문에 고문을 당해서...'라는 설정인 것인데, 유치하죠. 게다가 그냥 본 때문에 일방적으로 피해 입은 인물도 아닌 것이, 이 어셋에 의해 본의 아버지가 죽었죠. 이러면 '이놈도 사실은 사연이 있었어'라는 정당성을 제공하기 위해 어거지로 마련한, '어셋은 본 때문에 고생한 인물'이라는 명분에도 관객이 공감할 여지가 아예 사라져버립니다. 관객 입장에서는 본 아부지 미국 보낸 놈이 고작 고문 좀 당한 게 무슨 대수라고 본에게 원한을 품는지 어이가 없다는 생각 밖에 안 들게 되죠. 정리하자면, 본 트릴로지를 통해서 천천히 쌓아올리고 <얼티메이텀>에서 정점을 찍은 '킬러들의 정체성'이라는 화두를 내팽개쳐버리고, 어디서 조악한 복수귀 하나 공수해온 셈입니다. - 듀이와의 뒷거래를 통해 IT기업 딥드림을 성장시킨 CEO 칼루어(리즈 아메드 분)라는 인물이 CIA와 관계를 끊고 그간의 비리를 폭로하려 하자, 듀이는 어셋을 시켜 군중들이 모인 칼루어의 강연장에서 그를 저격하려고 계획하죠. 이것도 무리가 있다 싶습니다. 작중 칼루어의 인기 같은 것을 보면 거의 스티브 잡스나 에릭 슈미트 급 인물인데, 이런 거물을 CIA에서 맘대로 처리한다는 것은 말도 안 되죠. 그것도 심지어 사람들의 이목이 집중된 강연장에서 말입니다. 지금이 무슨 케네디에게 헤드샷 날리던 시절도 아니고, 수습이 불가능하지요. 이것은 CIA가 문제가 아니고 대통령이 당장 탄핵 당해서 하야하게 될 건입니다. 게다가 이런 건을 두고 FBI나 DIA나 NSA 같이 CIA와 경쟁관계에 있는 국내의 정보 및 수사기관들이 가만 있을 리가 없습니다. 실제로, 데이비드 퍼트레이어스 CIA 국장이 무슨 어마어마한 월권행위나 폭주행보 보인 것도 아니고, 고작 개인적으로 외도한 것을 FBI에게 걸리는 바람에 개망신 당하고 해직 되어 처벌 받았던 게 불과 몇 년 전이죠. 즉, 칼루어 암살은 CIA 국장이 독단으로 감행할 수가 없는 건입니다. 이쯤 되면 듀이는 그냥 미친 놈이지요. 엔딩에서 헤더와 에드윈에게 비합리적인 인물이라고 뒷담화 당하는 것도 당연합니다. 얼마 전 본 <아이 인 더 스카이>와 대비가 되더군요. 거기서는 영국의 각료들이 케냐에 있는 테러리스트들 안가에 드론으로 폭격을 하려다가 빵팔이 소녀가 같이 폭사할 것 같다는 이유로 재고에 재고를 거듭합니다. 물론 저런 높으신 양반들이 고작 빵팔이 소녀 때문에 고민할 거란 생각은 도통 안 들어서 뭐 저리 소심하게 그려놓았는지 의문이 들기는 했습니다만...아마 듀이 같이 '대범한' 인간이 그 자리 투입되었으면 20분 만에 <아이 인 더 스카이>는 엔딩 크레딧 올라가면서 단편 영화로 끝났을 것입니다. - 여기서 작중에서 지속적으로 거론되는 스노든 이야기도 사족이 될 수밖에 없습니다. 스노든 이야기 나오려면 정부 차원에서 감시와 통제, 리바이어던이 작동되어야하는데, 실제로는 그냥 CIA가 지들도 감당 못할 미친 짓을 하는 것 밖에 안 되죠. 억지로 시사적인 문제들과 얽으려 하지만 그게 잘 맞아떨어지지 않는 것이죠. 해서 그리스 시위와 마찬가지로 스노든도 배경이자 스케치로 스쳐지나갈 뿐입니다.  * 내가 사족이라니...무슨 소리요 의사양반. - 여기서도 본의 천리안이 활용됩니다. 헤더가 '뭔가 잘못됐어'라고 본에게 문자 메시지 보내자마자, 본은 곧바로 어셋이 암살을 할 것이라고 예상하고 곧바로 문에 들어가 곧바로 통풍구에 어셋이 있다고 판단하고 곧바로 총을 갈겨버립니다. -0-; - 계획이 어그러지고 본이 자신을 죽이러오는 상황임에도 듀이는 도망가지 않고 자신의 방에서 본을 맞이합니다. 부하가 도망가야 한다고 했음에도 불구하고요. 무슨 일기토 로망 있으신 건지...내가 왕년의 빌런 투 페이스인데 어떻게 머글 특수요원 따위가 두려워서 도망가냐 이런 걸까요?  * 토미 리 존스 투 페이스 시절 - 듀이를 사살하는 것은 결국 본이 아니라 헤더인데, 이것도 비칸데르의 비중을 강화하기 위한 장치라고 생각합니다. 구멍까지는 아니지만 비칸데르 밀어주려고 작정했다는 것이 보여서 위화감이 들더군요. - 게다가 듀이가 사망한 직후 본이 라스베이거스 시내로 어셋을 추적해오자 어셋은 본을 피해 라스베이거스 시내를 가로지르며 도주하는데, 이것도 문제가 큽니다. 일단 행적을 감추고 죽은 듯 살아가야할 암살자라는 인간이 라스베이거스가 발칵 뒤집히도록 막무가내로 운전해서 카지노고 길거리고 아작을 내는 것부터가 무리가 있습니다. 무려 자동차를 170대나 박살냈다고 하는데... 이 정도로 일을 시끄럽게 벌린 이상 앞으로 킬러로 활동하는 것은 불가능하죠. 결정적으로, 영화 내내 이 인물은 본에게 복수하고 싶어 안달난 인간이라고 대대적으로 선전해놓았는데, 본이 추적해오니까 도주해버리는 것은 이치에 닿지 않습니다. 정말 본에게 복수하고 싶었으면 본이 쫓아오는 것은 그야말로 반길 일입니다. 외딴 곳으로 유인한 뒤 거기에서 정면대결을 해서 본을 죽일 마음을 품는 식이 맞지요. 본에게 복수는 하고 싶었지만 막상 쫓아오니까 '아 아까 편집본 미리 보니까 저 새끼 오프닝에서 원펀치로 그리스에서 덩치 우락부락한 길거리 파이터 쓰리 강냉이 하던데, 나는 잘못 맞으면 뼈도 못 추릴 듯'이라고 생각한 걸까요. 여하간, 바로 얼마 전에 CIA 요원 넷도 아무렇지도 않게 인정사정없이 폐품처리 해버리던 터프한 어셋이 생뚱맞게도 본이 겁나서 도망가는 개쫄보가 되어버립니다. 이 역시 어떻게든 어셋과 본의 추격전을 연출해내려고 작위적인 조작을 가한 것이죠.  * 진중권...아니 암살자 씨 지금 도망가고 있습니다! - 본도 이상한 것이, 바로 얼마 전에 말콤 스미스에게 그토록 절박하게 아버지가 어떤 일을 했는지 다그친 바 있죠. 그래서 말콤 스미스의 목숨도 차마 뺏지 못하고 협박만 하다가 어셋이 말콤 스미스를 죽일 기회를 주게 되고요. 게다가 듀이도 죽었습니다. 그럼 리차드 웹에 대해 이야기를 들려줄 수 있는 것은 어셋 뿐이죠. 그런데 본은 어셋을 추격해서 아부지 이야기 자초지종 듣지도 않고 죽여버립니다. ??? - 게다가, 언제부터 본이 자신의 분노에 멘탈이 터져서 복수를 하고 다녔을까요. 원래 본 시리즈에서 스릴이 있었던 것은, CIA와 암살자들이 추적해오고, 이를 본의 먼치킨스러운 능력으로 타개했기 때문입니다. 본은 무고한 피해자였고 상대들은 프로페셔널한 킬러였기 때문에 임요환이 마이크로 컨트롤로 저그 병력의 쌈싸먹기를 타개하는 것을 보는 듯한 스릴이 있었죠. 그런데 이번엔 우리의 먼치킨이자 John Nace 본느님이 킬러를 쫓아갑니다. 여기에 CIA는 방금 전에 보스 모가지 따인 상태고요. 이러면 킬러는 이미 죽은 목숨인 거죠...스릴이 들래야 들 수가 없습니다. - 엔딩 시퀀스. 헤더는 에드윈 부장을 만나 자신이 본을 이용할 계획이며 만약 그가 협력에 응하지 않을 경우 제거하겠다는 속내를 밝히는데, 사실 그 광경은 본이 숨어서 영상 캡쳐하고 있었다는 것이 밝혀지며 영화가 끝나죠. 이는 1) 헤더는 마냥 선역이 아니라 꿍꿍이가 있었다. 2) 우리의 본느님은 뛰는 년 위의 나는 놈이시라 그 정도 속셈은 꿰뚫고 계신다. 이것들을 이야기 하려는 것인데, 영 유치하다 싶습니다. 위에서도 말했듯 한 번만 보고 시간 좀 지나서 정리한 거라, 사실관계가 틀릴 수도 있습니다. 그런 부분에 대해서는 지적해주시면 감사하겠습니다. 하지만 그렇다 한들, 저 중에서 5할 정도만 맞다고 하더라도 <제이슨 본>의 각본은 수습 불가능한 수준이라고 생각합니다. 이전 본 트릴로지라고 치밀한 각본을 가진 작품들은 아니었고 <무궁화 꽃이 피었습니다>같은 흔한 장르 소설과 크게 다르지 않은 이야기였지만 그래도 그럭저럭 합은 나왔죠. 부분적으로 편집해내고 부분적으로 설정만 추가하면 해결될 정도의 문제들이었습니다. 그렇게 골조가 적당히 셋팅 된 상태에서 그 위에 독보적인 연출을 거하게 쌓아올리니 명작이 된 것이고요. 그에 비하면 <제이슨 본>은 결함이 너무 커서 연출로 덮기도 어렵습니다. 트릴로지의 각본을 재탕한 부분이 적지 않고, 캐릭터의 능력과 직감으로 각본 상의 난점을 해결해버리고, 전개가 아귀에 맞지 않고 등등... 각본에 대한 글이기에 자세히 언급하지는 않겠습니다만 그나마 그 연출도 전작들만 못한 매너리즘적인 수준이고요. 대인 액션이라고 해봐야 이전의 생활용품 응용 격투 같은 건 안드로메다로 간 채 원펀치 쓰리 강냉이만 남았고, 카 체이스도 본 트릴로지에서 나온 관습적인 수준이고..오토바이 활용만 해도 이미 활용되었던 거니까요. 해서 그럭저럭 클래스는 있는 작품이라고 봅니다만, 굳이 시리즈를 이어나갈 필요는 없었다는 생각이 듭니다. 어제 보고왔는데 어거지로 스토리를 쥐어짜낸 액션영화더라고요. 차라리 본에대한 얘기를 하지말고 다른사건에 본이 얽혀들어가는 스토리나 만들지 라는 생각이 영화보는 중에 들었으니 ...... 그나마 안도로 삼는점은 인천상륙작전를 보지는 않았다는 점이겠네요.
