적극적이진 않지만 영화 스포 있습니다!! 아직 2015년은 다 가지도 않았고 올해는 걸출한 대작들이 많이 있기도 했습니다. 대충 떠올려 봐도 <마션>, <어벤져스: 에이지 오브 울트론>, <미션임파서블:로그네이션> 등 호불호는 갈리지만 볼만한 외화들이 꽤 있었다고 생각해요. <매드 맥스: 분노의 도로>가 제가 여태까지 최고로 꼽은 올해의 영화이고, <앤트맨>같은 영화는 아직도 히어로물의 다른 가능성을 보여주기도 하구요. 게다가 제가 좋아하는 감독 중 하나인 J.J. 에이브람스의 <스타워즈: 에피소드7 - 깨어난 포스>는 아직 개봉도 안했죠. 물론 <쥬라기 월드>나 <007 스펙터>처럼 ???하게 만드는 외화도 있었고, <판타스틱 4>처럼 대놓고 막장인 영화도 있었지만요. (그러고보니 올해는 시리즈물이 터져나오네요. 물론 <스트레이트 아웃 오브 컴턴>같은 영화도 매우 재밌게 봤습니다.)  <매드 맥스: 분노의 도로>는 사실 뭔지도 모르고 봤습니다. 기존 시리즈는 한번도 보지 못했고, 영화에 대한 사전정보가 하나도 없어서, 무슨 레이싱 영화인가 하고 상영관에 들어갔다가, 뒤통수를 맞은 것 같은 느낌이 들정도로 신나게 보고 나왔거든요.  드니 빌뵈브의 <시카리오: 암살자의 도시>가 위의 영화들처럼 알려져 있는지는 잘 모르겠습니다. 저는 <매드 맥스>때와 마찬가지로, 사전정보없이 일단 들어갔어요. 에밀리 블런트가 나온다는것과 <프리즈너스>, <그을린 사랑>의 감독이라는 것 정도만 인지한채로요. 그리고 피닉스 SWAT팀이 나오는 영화의 첫 컷부터 마지막 컷까지, 정말 흠뻑 빠져서 봤습니다. 영화관 나오면서 이미 흐릿해진 <매드맥스>를 제치고 곧바로 <시카리오>를 올해 최고의 영화로 꼽는데 별로 주저할 필요가 없었습니다. 촬영이 남달라보여 봤더니 끝나고 뜨는 로저 디킨스 크레딧... 거친 촬영과 열감지, 나이트비젼 화면을 마구마구 쏟아붓길래 디킨스일거란 예상은 못했지만, '역시..'라는 혼잣말이 나올정도로 영상이 멋지더군요. 여러가지가 있지만, 영화의 실제 배경인 맥시코의 후아레즈 라는 도시의 항공촬영이 수도없이 나오는데, 앵글이 일반적인 항공촬영과 좀 다릅니다. <그린 존>이나, <블랙 호크 다운>에서처럼 군사작전을 위한 정찰기 시선의 bird eye shot이야 다른 영화에서도 많이 봤습니다만, 고고도도 아니고, 저고도도 아닌 애매한 높이에서, 일반적인 풍경 인서트에서 넓은 화면을 담기 위해 많이 쓰는 광각 렌즈가 아닌 망원(그것도 초망원같습니다만) 렌즈를 활용해 찍은 샷들이, 정말 뻔할 것 같은 항공촬영 샷에서 이상한 느낌을 살려내더군요. 제가 만약 그렇게 찍는다면, 애매한 앵글로 구도가 망가질 것 같아 꺼릴 것 같은 높이에서, 완성된 앵글을 잡아내는게, 1. 정말 신기했고, 2. 촬영감독이 보통 놈이 아니다. 라는 생각이 들었는데, 그 이후에 저멀리 해가 지는 석양을 배경으로 땅속으로 점점 들어가는 군인들의 실루엣 샷을 보고는, 이건 베테랑 촬감이다, 이따 끝날때 촬영 누가했는지 엔딩크레딧 꼭 봐야지! 싶게 만드는 멋진 화면이 너무 많았습니다. (그리고 역시 촬영감독이 보통놈이 아니었답니다.) 하지만 <시카리오>는 촬영빨로 살아난 영화가 아니라, 엄연히 감독의 연출력이 뛰어난 영화라고 꼭 인정해주고 싶습니다. 제가 바로 전에 본게 <맥베스>였는데, 인상깊은 고속촬영의 활용과, 저예산인데도 불구하고 여러가지 방면으로 그 한계를 극복하려한 멋진 촬영이 있었던 반면, 영화 자체는 너무 다이얼로그가 많고, 마이클 패스밴더가 연기한 멕베스가 너무 징징거려서 저랑은 좀 안맞았었거든요. (애초에 맥베스가 징징거리니까 멕베스지만...) <엣지 오브 투모로우>에서 탐 크루즈와 함께 연기한 히로인 에밀리 블런트가 주연인데, 미국 남부의 피닉스 SWAT팀에서 마약 관련 강력 범죄를 쫓아다니는 유능한 여성 신입 대원 역을 연기합니다.  하지만 일반적인 액션 영화는 아닙니다. 이 영화의 초반부-중반부는 철저하게 에밀리 블런트가 연기한 케이트 메이시의 시선으로 그려지거든요. 그래서 총알이 날아다니고, 사람들이 쓰러지지만, 관객이 볼 수 있는건, 케이트가 볼 수 있는 게 답니다. 저 건너편에서 무슨일이 일어나는지, 어디에서 누가 총을 쐈는지, 우리편이 누굴 쏴서 죽였는지, 케이트가 볼 수 없는 위치에 있었다면, 관객들도 볼 수 없습니다.  여기에 하나 더, 케이트는 능력있고 고강도로 훈련받은 전문 경찰 요원, 그것도 SWAT 팀이니, 우리나라의 경찰특공대나 특전사처럼, 총격전이나, 진압작전에 전문화된 고급 인력입니다. 그런데 다른 팀으로 차출되어 더 참혹하고, 어려운 현장들을 접하게 되는데요, 총격전이나, 시가지 진압 작전에서 일가견을 보이는 케이트마저도 초짜로 만드는 더 엄청난 팀으로 이력하게 되면서, 케이트는 이 모든 사건과 환경들을 완전 신입의 눈으로 바라보게 됩니다. (그리고 기존 팀원들이... SWAT출신인데도 불구하고, 케이트를 막 갈궈요... 곤조도 부리고, 여자라서 무시?하고... 그런 갈등들이 대놓고 드러나진 않지만, 캐릭터의 깊이를 참 잘 살려줍니다.) 이 신입의 눈으로 바라보는 멕시코 카르텔과 마약 사건, 현지의 상황은 매우 색다르고, 긴장감있게 그려지는데요, 촬영도 촬영인데, 손에 땀을 쥐게 만드는 긴장감있는 연출력은 감독의 공이 가장 크다고 봅니다.  액션영화에 자주 등장하는 카체이싱도 없고(자동차 장면은 있습니다만, 카체이싱은 아닙니다.) 무언가 폭발한다거나, 인상깊은 악역이 없는데에도, 이 영화는 관객을 몰입하게 만드는 힘이 있습니다. 액션보다는 범죄물이나, 스릴러(?)에 더 가깝다고 보네요. 그리고 중반부 이후부터는 영화의 무게중심이 케이트에서 베네치오 델 토로가 연기한 팀의 리더, 알레한드로에게로 넘어가는데요, 영화를 끝까지 보신다면, 베네치오 델 토로의 매력에 빠져들게 됩니다. .jpg) 맥시코 검사 출신이지만, 카르텔에게 아내가 참수당하고, 딸이 염산에 던져지는 참혹한 일을 당하고, 미국의 요원들과 같이 카르텔을 소탕하며 복수를 하고자 하는 인물인데, 처음에는 신분이 확실한 케이트와 달리, 어디출신인지, 뭐하는 사람인지 뚜렷하게 드러나지 않지만, 서서히 그 정체가 밝혀지는데요, 이 인물이 주는 무게감과 전문성, 몰입감은 매우 뛰어나서, 케이트에서 알레한드로로 중심이 넘어가는데, 큰 장애물 없이 자연스럽게 넘어가 집니다.  영화 종반부에는 약간의 무리수와 이해가 안가는 부분들이 나와서 전반부에서 끌어왔던 매력이 많이 사라지긴 하지만, 그래도 나름 만족스럽게 볼 수 있는 영화입니다. 이런 긴장감있고 사실감 느껴지는 총격 시퀀스은 캐서린 비글로우의 <허트로커> 이후로 굉장히 오랜만이고, 또 <허트로커>와는 다르게 음악이 굉장히 적극적으로 쓰입니다. 좀 과한거 아닌가 싶을 정도인데, 로저 디킨스의 화면이 오히려 과장이 덜하고, 음악이 좀 과한 편이었는데, 그래도 무리있는 연출은 아니었다고 봅니다. 긴장감을 살리는데 큰 역할을 합니다. 제가 과장되고, 색깔이 화려하게 입혀진 액션장르보다 이런쪽 장르에 정말 환장하는 경향이 있어서, (그렇다고 액션을 싫어하진 않습니다. 좋아합니다.) 주저없이 올해 NO.1로 꼽았습니다. 오히려 곧 개봉하는 <스타워즈>가 과연 이걸 넘어설 수 있을지 걱정되네요.    게다가 제가 요즘 플스4로 한글판이 출시된 <메탈 기어 솔리드 5: 팬텀 페인>을 하고 있는데, 여기에 나오는 조쉬 브롤린은 메기솔 주인공 스네이크의 현신이 아닌가 싶을 정도로 자꾸 떠올라서 그것도 재미있었습니다. 에밀리 블런트의 연기도 좋았지만, 베네치오 델 토로와, 조쉬 브롤린의 연기는 정말... 엄청납니다.  모든 사람에게 2015년 NO.1이 될 것 같진 않습니다만, 이런 류의 영화 좋아하시는 분들 분명히 있을 것 같은데, 제가 가는 커뮤니티 어디에도 관련 글이 없어 남겨봅니다. 완벽하다, 완성도가 뛰어나다, 이런 영화는 아닙니다만, 충분히 즐길만한 시퀀스로 가득찬 영화입니다. 추천해요! 링크: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3270818/I-didn-t-want-think-things-doing-injected-heroin-meth-tequila-Former-sicario-cartel-hitmen-reveal-gruesome-reality-killing-20-time-gritty-Hollywood-film-released.html 영화 관련되 맥시코 카르텔에 대한 아티클인데, 제가 몰랐던 부분에 대해서 또 알게 되네요. 중간에 나오는 La China 라고 불리는 여성 시카리오(=히트맨)의 사진같은걸 보면 개인적으로 충격적이기도 하고, 여러가지 생각이 들게 만드네요. 시날로아 카르텔에서 영향력 있던 멜리사 칼더슨이라는 여성인데, 체포된 경위가 남자친구가 형량을 줄이려고 여자친구를 팔았더라구요. 영화랑은 상관없는 내용은데 어찌 더 영화같은... 맥시코는 무서운 동네인가 봅니다... + 에밀리 블런트는 액션 히로인으로 영향력을 굳힐 생각인가 봅니다. <엣지 오브 투로모우>의 플란체는 정말 인상깊었는데요.
