<일본판 1기 엔딩곡 "순수한 마음(순심)"은 내부 BGM으로도 꽤나 자주 사용됐습니다. 이 버전은 두번째 변주 형태입니다. 셜록스가 최루탄 안에서 네티를 잡겠다고 껴안았을때 나왔죠.> --------------------------- If you want a happy ending, that depends, of course, on where you stop your story. 만약 행복한 결말을 원하신다면, 당연하게도, 이야기를 언제 끝내느냐에 달렸습니다. - 오슨 웰스, 영화 "시민 케인" 감독 --------------------------- 천사소녀 네티 덕질 백서 - 1. 원작 만화처럼 로맨스 즐기기 천사소녀 네티 덕질 백서 - 2. 샐리의 짝사랑 천사소녀 네티 덕질 백서 - 3. 짝사랑에 빠진 소녀의 로맨스 "짝사랑에 빠진 소녀" 샐리와 셜록스의 로맨스는 본편에서는 굉장히 환상적으로 마무리됐습니다. (숏컷에 충격받은 시청자들만 빼고) 8년후 모두가 행복했다는 동화같은 마무리로 끝났죠. 원하는 대로 기자와 경찰이 된 마리오와 리나, 수도자의 삶을 사는 세인트, 그리고 유능한 탐정이 된 셜록스와 결혼을 약속하는 샐리를 보여주면서 말이죠. 원작 만화도 엔딩은 똑같습니다. 하지만 작가는 번외편을 통해, 이 "동화같은 엔딩"을 현실 세계로 돌려놓습니다. 어떤 마법도 동화도 없는, 현실을 사는 풋풋한 커플의 이야기로 말이죠. 잘 살았습니다로 끝났을 로맨스에 생명을 불어넣는 짧은 이야기입니다. 오늘의 이야기는 번외편 2편 "크리스마스 선물"에 관한 얘기입니다. 네, 영업입니다. 여러분 천사소녀 네티 7권 추천합니다! 지금 각종 E북으로 구매 가능합니다. 저는 솔직히 본편보다 더 좋아요. 특히 세인트 좋아하시면 세인트가 굉장히 예쁘게 나오는 번외편 3편 "세인트와 마리오"도 꼭 보시면 좋습니다. 번외편 에피소드들은 애니메이션 제작이 완료된 뒤에 연재됐습니다. 3편인 세인트와 마리오는 본편과 다른 잡지에서 연재했구요. 그래서 아쉽게도 애니화가 되지 못했어요. 오늘은 애니메이션이 아니라 만화책에 관련된 내용이니 아쉽지만 스크린샷을 적극적으로 넣을 수는 없겠군요. 역시, 사보시는 것을 추천합니다. 1. 짝사랑, 그 무서운 관성 셜록스를 무사히 구출해 온 샐리는 천사소녀를 그만두게 됩니다. 셜록스에게 결국 잡혔으니까요. 그리고 셜록스에게 숨기는 것도 없는, 서로의 마음을 확인한 커플이 됐습니다. 그러면 이제 참 편안한 연애생활을 하고 있겠죠? 8년 뒤에 둘은 행복하게 결혼하잖아요? 그럴리가요. 이 둔탱이는 그런 편하고 달달한 사랑을 허용하는 사람이 못 됩니다. 사귄 직후에도 "크리스마스나 발렌타인 데이같은거 못 챙긴다, 커플룩이나 교환일기같은거는 싫다"는 선언을 한 적도 있구요. 물론 샐리는 "다 필요없어, 너만 있으면 돼." 상태였으니까, 이런걸 받아들이고 있는 상태였습니다.  <"아무것도 필요 없으니까..." 물론 이땐 아직 두려움에 잠식된 상태였지만요.> 짝사랑의 무서운 관성은 이런 수동성을 어쩔 수 없이 감수하면서, 기대한 만큼의 애정에 닿지 못할 때 이루어집니다. 특히나 둘의 애정이 이루어지는 순간이 환상적일 수록 더욱 그렇죠. 그리고, 정말 환상적인 순간을 겪었던 샐리의 마음에는 불안감이 다시 자리하게 됩니다. 2. 둔탱이가 어느날 갑자기 로맨틱해지진 않는다. 크리스마스를 앞두고 성 폴리아시 광장에 커다란 트리가 세워질 거라는 소식이 들려옵니다. 그래서 반 친구들끼리 같이 가보자는 이야기가 나오죠. 물론 샐리는 둘만의 데이트를 기대했지만, 셜록스는 이 기대를 박살내고 그래 같이 가보는거 어떠냐고 제안을 합니다. 실망감을 안고 집에 돌아온 샐리에게 엄마는 영화표를 선물하죠. 샐리에게 남자친구가 생긴 걸 이미 눈치채고 계셨던 겁니다. 하지만 이 영화는 엄마 표현으로 "아주 로맨틱한" 영화였고, 샐리는 셜록스가 이런 영화를 싫어할 것 같아 고민합니다.  <"그건… 꿈이었던 걸까…." 저번 글에서 죄를 사하겠다고 한거 취소합니다.> 이렇게 영화 보러 가자는 단순한 제안에도 셜록스가 이걸 싫어할텐데 하고 고민하면서, 샐리는 "셜록스가 혹시 날 별로 좋아하지 않는 걸까"하는 고민에 빠집니다. 셜록스가 자기를 안아줬던 그 날이 꿈이었던 걸까 라고 생각하면서요. 하지만 둘이서 영화를 너무도 보고 싶었던 샐리는 결국 셜록스에게 "액션 영화"라고 거짓말을 하고 영화를 보러 가자고 하죠. 당연히 영화관에 와서 샐리가 거짓말을 한걸 알게 된 셜록스는 화를 냅니다. 필살 눈물신공으로 셜록스의 화를 잠재우고, 뭐 어쨌든 둘은 영화를 보게 되구요, 셜록스는 잠이 들어 버립니다(...). 셜록스가 잠든 동안 영화에선 이런 대사가 나와요, "당신이 어디에 있든 꼭 찾아내겠어."  <샐리가 회상한 장면, 5화(인형도둑)입니다. 더미 네티들 사이에서 셜록스가 자기를 바로 찾아냈던 장면이죠.> 샐리는 이 대사를 듣고 옛날을 생각합니다. 옛날에는 어디에 있든지 자기를 찾아내고, 쫓아왔던 기억이 난 겁니다. "…그건 천사소녀였기 때문에 찾아낸 거였어? 천사소녀가 아니면 찾아주지 않을거야…? 내가 더이상 천사소녀가 아니니까." 마음 속 저편에 봉인해놨던 본인의 최강의 연적, 천사소녀 네티가 떠오른 거죠. 이젠 난 천사소녀 네티가 아니니까. 3. 애정에 목마른 소녀가 어느날 애정에 관대해 질 수도 없다. 영화가 끝나고 샐리는 화난 상태로 나오게 됩니다. 자기가 졸아서 그런 줄 안 셜록스는 사과 같지 않은 사과를 하지만, 그것보다 훨씬 더 큰 일이 생긴 걸 모르고 있는거죠. "어느 쪽이야. 나하고 천사소녀하고 누굴 진짜 좋아하는 거지?" 샐리는 이렇게 묻습니다. 우리는 "정답"이 뭔줄 알고 있습니다. 하지만, 문제는 상대가 셜록스라는 점이죠. 셜록스 입장에서는 이해가 안 가는 질문입니다. 천사소녀에 집착하게 된 이유가 너 때문인데, 천사소녀가 너인데 왜 이런 걸 물어보는 거지? 그리고 최악의 대답을 하고 말죠. "가끔씩 머리 좀 묶어보는건 어때?" ...취향이 이해는 갑니다. 예, 매우 이해는 가는데, 이런 미친... 셜록스 입장에서는 "너 네티 같은 타입을 좋아하는거 아니야?"라는 질문으로 이해를 한거고, 어차피 그게 본인이니 "그때 머리 묶은게 귀여웠다"라는 대답을 한 것 같아요. 한마디로 샐리가 천사소녀와 유리된 본인을 생각하는 것을 전혀 이해하지 못한 것이죠. 당연히 샐리는 엄청나게 화를 내고, "이젠 절대로 머리 안 묶을 거다"는 폭탄선언을 하고 울면서 집으로 갑니다. "저 바보멍청이구제불능은 역시 내가 아니라 천사소녀 네티를 좋아한 거였어." 라고 생각하면서요. 일단 샐리가 앞으로 머리를 묶지 않는다고 했으니 셜록스의 죄가 매우 큽니다. 이건 빼박 유죄죠. 크리스마스 이브가 찾아오고, 반 아이들과 트리를 보러 나간 샐리와 셜록스는 서로를 데면데면하게 대합니다. 여기서 샐리는 인파 속에 숨어버려요, 예전에 네티로서 숨듯이 말이죠. "지금 여기서 내가 없어지면, 부탁이야 날 찾아줘"라는 간절한 바람과 함께. 옛날에 천사소녀를 찾듯이, 그렇게 자기를 찾아달라고 말이죠. 4. 해답은 예전부터 정해져 있었다. 지금까지 천사소녀 네티 외전2편이었습니다. 결말은 책을 사서 보시는걸로...ㅎㅎ 아래는 스포일러입니다. 개인적으로 정말 애정하는 내용입니다. 스포를 원치 않으시면 패스해주세요. 사서 보시면 감동이 백배! ............................................... 셜록스는 많은 사람들 앞에서 옛날 천사소녀 네티를 찾듯이 큰 목소리로 샐리를 찾습니다. "나오지 않으면 진짜 화낸다, 빨리 나와!" 하면서요. 셜록스에게 나와서 왜 이런 짓을 하냐고 묻는 샐리에게 셜록스는 "너는 절대로 도망가지 않는다고."라고 대답하죠. 이 얘길 들은 샐리는 셜록스의 마음이 변함 없음을, 천사소녀와 자신을 동일한 사람으로 좋아하는 것을 확인하고 "이길 수가 없어, 분명 평생 못이길거야"라고 생각하면서 울먹입니다. 그날 밤, 샐리는 셜록스의 방 창가에 천사소녀 네티의 모습으로 나타나서 사과를 하고, 당황하는 셜록스에게 기습 키스(뽀뽀?)를 합니다. 굳어버린 셜록스에게 내일은 머리 묶고 간다고 하면서 외전2편은 마무리가 됩니다. 부활했던 최고의 연적을 다시 자신의 모습으로 받아들인 것을 알 수 있죠. 여담으로 이게 국내 번역은 "도망갈 수 없다"로 되어있는데, 원문은 "도망가지 않는다"에 가깝습니다. 둘 다 말이 되긴 하지만 약간의 뉘앙스 차이가 있죠. ............................................... 5. 동화속 결말에서 다시 현실로 홍차넷에서 몇 번 언급한 적이 있지만, 저는 타로카드를 합니다. 한지 거의 20년이 다 되어가는군요. 20대 초에 보기 시작했으니, 대부분의 내담자는 20대~30대 들이었고 그럼 대충 9할 정도는 "연애"관련된 내용을 들고 옵니다. 이중엔 참 짝사랑 얘기가 많지요. 꼭 혼자 좋아하는 것 만이 짝사랑 이야기가 아닙니다. 비록 내 곁에 있어도, 나는 짝사랑을 하는 사람들이 있거든요. 짝사랑이 정말로 안타까운 건 짝사랑을 할 때도 있지만, 이것이 이루어지고 나서도 있습니다. 짝사랑은 관성이 있습니다. 짝사랑을 했던 사람들은 그토록 원했던 사람과 커플이 되고 나서도 이 관성에서 벗어나기 어렵습니다. 내가 더 좋아했던 것, 내가 가슴 졸였던 것, 이제 막 시작한 상대와도 너무도 차이가 나는 마음의 고저차를 이겨내기가 굉장히 어렵죠. 그래서 짝사랑에 성공한 많은 사람들이, 이 마지막 문턱을 이겨내지 못하고 끝나게 되는 경우가 있죠. 그런 점에서 이 외전의 샐리의 대사들은 정말 제 마음을 깊게 자극하더라구요. "천사소녀가 아니면 찾아주지 않을거야…?" 라든가, "부탁이야 날 찾아줘, 제발"이라든가. 이 깊게 남은 짝사랑의 잔향들이 샐리를 괴롭히는 모습이 말이죠. 그리고, 어떠한 캐붕도, 어떤 특별한 변화 없이 셜록스는 지난 40화 동안 보여줬던 모습 그대로 여기에 대응합니다. 정말 예전의 그 모습 그대로 말이죠. 내 매력은 이런 거라고 어필하듯이 말입니다. 저는 그래서 이 외전 이야기가 정말 좋습니다. 원래 환상적으로 연애 시작한 사람들이 연애 유지하기 힘들고, 짝사랑 오래 한 사람이 연애하는 상황을 받아들이기가 더 어렵습니다. 이 커플은 이 두개의 교집합이잖아요? 정말 난리난리치며 연애를 시작했고, 샐리는 정말 오랫동안 속을 태우며 짝사랑을 했습니다. 이 사람들이 "8년후 결혼해서 행복했어요"라는 결말은 그냥 동화 속의 이야기일 뿐이죠. 물론, 마무리로는 나쁘지 않습니다. 여아용 로맨스 만화에 조금 동화스러운 결말을 넣으면 어떻습니까? 시청자, 독자들은 "우리 샐리", "우리 셜록스"가 행복해야 마음이 평온할텐데요. 고전 로맨스, 공주님과 왕자님 이야기의 평범한 마무리가 되는 것이죠. 하지만 작가는 외전을 통해 이 동화속의 커플을 현실 세계로 다시 소환합니다. 샐리를 두려움을 이겨내고 사랑하는 사람을 구출해온 "천사소녀 네티"에서, 다시 늘 하던 대로 셜록스의 애정을 갈구하고 상호 사랑하는 방식을 배워가는 열네 살 소녀 샐리로 돌려놔요. 셜록스를 사랑으로 모든 것을 이해해주는 동화속 왕자님에서, 역시 늘 하던 대로 샐리 대하는게 서툴고 배려가 익숙지 않아 틱틱거리는, 하지만 본인 딴엔 나름대로 진심인 이제 막 사랑에 적응하는 열네 살 소년 셜록스로 돌려놓죠. 그래요, 작품 내내 둔하기 이를 데 없고 우직한 외골수이던 셜록스가 갑자기 멋지고 로맨틱한 명탐정이 될 리가 없고, 작품 내내 활발하고 눈물 많던 소녀, 정의감을 주체 못해서 천사소녀로 활동하던 샐리가 갑자기 조용하게 프로포즈를 기다리는 샤랄라한 사람이 될 리가 없는 것이죠. 비록 굉장히 짧은 이야기지만, "그래 이게 맞지"라는 생각이 들게 하는 겁니다. 그리고 이런 두 사람이 본편에서 보여줬던 서로의 모습을 버리지 않으면서도, 서로의 애정에 적응하는 모습을 보여준다는 점이 또 중요한 얘기죠. 저 같이 덕통사고 당한 사람들에게 이 커플을 동화 속의 왕자공주님이 아닌, 그냥 살아있는 커플로 느끼게 만들어 줍니다. 그 "공백의 8년"이 과연 어땠을까, 이 커플에게 그 8년은 어떤 의미였고 무슨 일이 있었을까, 이런 상상의 나래를 펼 수 있게 해줍니다. 다른 커플들처럼 맨날맨날 싸우고 화내고, 그러면서 서로를 이해하는 그런 커플이 되었겠죠. 네, 덕질의 기본은 망상과 아쉬움 아니겠습니까. 외전 2편과 3편은 이런 망상과 아쉬움의 실마리가 되는 에피소드들로 되어있습니다. 개인적으로는 이 이야기가 애니메이션화 되지 않은 것이 정말로 아쉽습니다. 다시 생각해보면 이 이야기는 KBS에서 컷했을 것 같기도 하고, 그래도 안경진 성우님 목소리로 이 에피소드를 듣지 못하는 것이 정말로 아쉽기도 하네요. 요즘같이 미디어가 발달해 있을 때 나왔더라면 안경진, 이영주 두분 성우님들 모셔놓고 라디오 드라마라도 녹음했으면 좋았을텐데 말이죠. 그러니까 여러분, 7권 꼭 사서 보세요 호호 이 외전 2화가 제가 천사소녀 네티 에피소드 전체에서 제일 좋아하는 회차입니다.
