Factfulness를 다 읽고, 다음에는 어떤 책을 읽을까 이북 카페 추천 도서를 뒤져보다가 뉴스 다이어트라는 책을 누군가 추천하는 댓글을 봤습니다. 바로 아마존에서 해당하는 영어원서를 찾아서 샘플을 봤더니 오, 영어가 그렇게 어렵지 않습니다. 와, 분량이 120 page 정도 밖에 안됩니다. 바로 질렀습니다. 사기 전에 리뷰를 몇 개 봤습니다. 눈에 띄는 리뷰가 몇 개 있습니다. "한 챕터로 할 수 있는 말을 책 한 권으로 썼다"는 내용... 뭐 상관 없습니다. 저는 영어공부 목적도 있으니까요. 29%정도 읽은 감상은, 그 리뷰의 말이 맞습니다. 확실히 챕터마다 같은 말을 반복하고 있습니다. 1. 뉴스가 너무 많고, 점점 많아지고 거기에 소비되는 시간이 많다. 뉴스를 다 끊어라!! - 왜? 신문사가 정한 중요한 뉴스가 니 삶에서 중요한 건 아니다. 몰라도 된다. - 그리고 진짜 중요한 뉴스는 신문, 웹사이트를 보지 않아도 친구들로 부터 듣게 된다. (어이어이 친구가 있는지부터 물어봐야지) 2. 뉴스를 많이 본다고 니가 더 나은 결정을 내릴 수 있고 지식이 깊어지는 것이 아니다. 차라리 관심 분야의 책을 봐라. 넓게 알지 말고 깊게 알아라. 3. 자신의 Circle of Competence의 범위 안에 있는 것만 죽어라 파라. 4. 일단 한달만 끊어봐라. 삶이 바뀔 것이다. 그대신 진짜 완전 끊어야 한다. 절대 보지마라. (아니면 정 보고싶거든 주간신문에서 핵심 기사 몇 개 정도만 숫자를 정해서 보는 식으로 해라. 하지만 그게 익숙해지면 그 담엔 다 끊어라.) ........ 그렇습니다. 저소리만 29%째 반복하고 있습니다. 그러나 팔랑귀인 저는 이 사람의 꾐에 넘어가서 한 달동안 다 끊어보려고 생각하고 있습니다. 실험삼아 어제 하루 해봤는데...어? 이거 진짜 좀 다른 것 같은데? 라는 생각이 들었기 때문입니다.
