https://youtu.be/zhCtzmDWsN0 밴드 SHISHAMO의 대표곡 明日も(아시타모)입니다. 유튜브 뮤직 처음 신청했을 때 자동으로 추천해주는 노래를 듣다가 작곡실력이 너무 뛰어난 노래를 듣게 되어서 깜짝 놀라 찾아봤더니, 그 밴드가 바로 오늘 소개하는 SHISHAMO였던 기억이 납니다. SHISHAMO는 일본 카와사키 종합과학고교의 경음부(밴드부)에서 시작한 일본의 록밴드입니다. 지금으로부터 10년전인 2010년, 당시 고등학교 학생이었던 미야자키 아사코(宮崎 朝子)와 마츠오카 아야가 교내의 경음부에 가입했는데, 밴드가 해체되면서 붕 뜨게 된 것을 지금의 드러머인 요시카와 미사키가(吉川 美冴貴) 가입하게 되면서 SHISHAMO라는 밴드가 탄생하게 됩니다. 당초에는 카피밴드를 지향했지만, 고문 교사의 권유로 오리지널 곡을 하게 되었고 그렇게 시작한 아마추어 밴드가 좋은 평가를 받게 되면서 졸업 후에는 전업 밴드로 변신하게 됩니다. 그렇지만 원년 멤버인 마츠모토 아야(松本 彩)가 탈퇴하게 되었고, 그 자리를 지금의 베이시스트인 마츠오캬 아야(松岡 彩)가 채우게 되면서 현재의 3인체제가 굳어졌습니다. 읭? 이거 어디서 많이 들어본 얘기 같은데...? 라고 생각하실지도 모릅니다. 실제로 저도 처음에는 비슷한 시기 발매되어 큰 히트를 친 애니메이션 "케이온"의 내용 같아서 처음에는 굉장히 재미있다고 생각했습니다. 특히 처음에는 가벼운 부활동으로 시작했다가 점점 진지해지는 부분이 케이온의 내용과 너무 닮아 있어서 더 그랬던 것 같습니다. 그렇지만 무도관에 진출하지 못하고 아마추어 밴드로 남은 애니메이션 이야기와 달리 SHISHAMO는 인디신을 넘어 젊은 세대를 중심으로 선풍적인 인기를 끌게 됩니다. SHISHAMO의 노래가 우리나라의 KT쯤 되는 NTT 도코모의 CM송으로 쓰이게 되었고, 2017년에는 일본 음악계 1부리그(?)의 관문쯤 되는 NHK 홍백가합전에도 출전하게 됩니다. 이후에도 상승세를 이어가 2019년 NHK의 학생 합창대회의 심사곡으로 君の隣にいたいから가 사용되면서 또 한번 일본 전국 방송 전파를 타게 됩니다. SHISHAMO의 노래는 젊은 남녀의 로맨틱한 감정을 다루는 사랑노래와 노력하는 당신을 응원하는 응원가풍의 노래 2종류가 주류를 이루고 있습니다. 때로는 단순명쾌한 록으로, 때로는 감성을 자극하는 조용한 선율로 노래하는 것이 특징이라면 특징입니다. 모든 곡들이 다 좋지만 그 중에서도 제이리그 카와사키 프론탈레의 응원곡으로도 쓰이는, 맨 앞에 소개한 明日も는 대표곡 중의 대표곡입니다. 방송에 나오면 꼭 연주하는 곡이기도 합니다. 힙합과 발라드가 강세인 우리나라와는 조금 다르게 록밴드가 높은 인기를 구가하는 것이 일본 음악계의 특징이라면 특징입니다. 사잔 올스타즈, 엑스재팬과 같은 기라성 같은 록밴드가 있는 일본 음악신에서 SHISHAMO를 돋보이게 하는 가장 큰 특징은 꾸밈없는 소박한 감수성이라고 생각합니다. 明日も의 뮤직비디오를 보시면 아시겠지만 SHISHAMO는 뮤직비디오에서도, 라이브에서도 화려한 복장과 분장 대신에 편의점에 음료수 사러 갈 때 입을 법한 츄리닝이나 티셔츠를 입고 연주를 합니다. 가사 역시도 천년에 한번 있을 운명적인 사랑 이야기가 아니라, 내일도 당장 출근해야 하는 평범한 사람들의 이야기를 솔직하게 다루고 있는데, 그게 매력이라고 생각합니다. SHISHAMO는 앞에서도 말했지만 도쿄 수도권의 외곽지역인 카나가와 현의 카와사키 시에서 출발한 밴드입니다. 어쩌면 SHISHAMO의 소박한 감성은 보컬 미야자키 아사코가 고등학교 시절까지도 강에서 물놀이를 하면서 놀았다고 하는 교외지역의 분위기를 잘 담고 있는지도 모르겠습니다. 그래서인지 SHISHAMO 역시 고향 카와사키에 대한 애정을 항상 표현하는데, 특히 멤버들이 제이리그의 카와사키 프론탈레의 팬인 것은 유명합니다. 먼 미래의 아닌 다음의 연주와 다음에 발매할 앨범을 준비하면서 하루하루를 보낸다는 SHISHAMO는 코로나 사태 이전까지만 해도 유튜브에 빼곡히 올라오는 라이브 연주가 보여주는 것처럼 부지런하고 성실한 밴드입니다. 이제 결성된지 10년이 된 이 밴드가 다른 수 많은 훌륭한 밴드와 같이 많은 사람들에게 감동을 주는 좋은 노래를 오래오래 많이 부르기를 기원합니다.
