 몇 년 전부터 아내와 여름에 연꽃보러 부여 궁남지 가자고 계획만 계속 세우다가 올해 드디어 다녀왔습니다. 남부터미널-부여터미널-부소산성(도보 이동)-구드레(유람선 이동)-장원막국수 -부여박물관(택시이동)-궁남지(도보이동)-부여터미널-남부터미널-치맥-귀가 요런 루트로 계획을 세워두고 타임테이블까지 정리하면서 "장원막국수가 사람이 많다고는 하지만, 30분 정도 기다리면 먹겠지" 이렇게 생각했습니다. 큰 판단 착오였습니다. .. 1시가 조금 넘어 장원막국수 가게 앞에 도착했습니다. 제일 먼저 눈에 보이는 건 일렬로 늘어선 사람들.. 심지어 땡볕이 내리쬐는 곳까지 나와서 줄을 서고 있더라고요. 제 앞에 계신 분들이 세보더니 대충 80명이 더 있다고 하더군요. "막국수니까 괜찮아. 금방 사람 빠질거야." 라며 아내의 눈치를 살살 봤습니다. -ㅅ-)a 그래도 한 5분 서있으니 파라솔 그늘 아래로 들어갈 수 있었습니다. 앞의 80명이 빠지는데 대략 50분 정도 걸리더군요. .. 건물이 앞 뒤로 뻥 뚤린 구조입니다만, 안에 에어컨은 없더군요. 선풍기 바람 뿐이어서 좀 답답하긴 했습니다. 또한 신발을 벗고 들어가야 하는.. 아내가 싫어하는 구조라서 "제발 맛있어야 해!" 라는 생각이 들더군요. 들어가자마자 막국수 2개에 편육 반접시를 주문했습니다. .. 물 한 잔 마시고 줄 서있는 사람들 잠시 구경하니 금방 음식이 나오더군요. 일단 국물 한 모금.. 신 맛이 강하더군요. 냉국 수준으로 새콤하더라고요. (참고로 전 신맛에 무척 예민한 편입니다.) 메밀 면발은 참기름을 살짝 뿌려서 넣었더군요. 면발은 매우 훌륭했습니다. 휘휘 저어 육수랑 섞어서 한 젓가락 입안에 넣고 우물우물해보니.. 50분 동안 서서 기다린 설움이 날아가더군요. 약간 지나친 새콤함이 아쉽기는 했지만 구수하면서도 시원한 맛이었습니다. 김가루나 고춧가루가 과하지도 않고 면발과 잘 어우러지더라고요. 이번에는 편육을 한 점 들어 메밀 면과 함께 먹어봤습니다. 이야!! 여기서는 편육을 꼭 같이 먹어야 하는 곳입니다. 아까 육수의 신맛을 편육이 중화해주면서 깔끔하게 넘어가게 해주더군요. 얇게 잘 썰어진 것도 보기 좋았고, 적당히 삶아 촉촉하면서도 육향이 잘 남아있는 그런 고기였습니다. 반찬으로 나온 깍두기와 김치도 간이 너무 세지도 않고 슴슴해서 막국수와 아주 잘 어울렸습니다. 고추장아찌도 맛은 있는데, 이건 좀 짜더라고요. .. 훌륭한 면발, 만족스러운 편육, 그리고 이 두 가지를 하나로 묶어주는 육수... 1시간 가까이 기다릴만한 가치는 있다고 생각됩니다. 하지만 이왕이면 오픈 시간인 11시 전에 미리 가서 줄 서있거나, 아예 문 닫기 직전에 가는게 좋을 것 같습니다. 참고로 오후 5시에 닫더군요. 저희가 밥먹고 나온 2시 30분 무렵에도 처음 그대로 줄이 유지되고 있었습니다. 오전에 부여 돌아다니면서 사람들이 뭐 이리 안 보이나 했는데 장원막국수 있는 쪽에 다 몰려 있는 것 같다는 생각이 들 정도였습니다. -ㅅ-)a 사실 겉보기에는 엄청 허름해보이는 집이었거든요. 그런데 장작으로 가마솥에 고기를 계속 삶고 있고, 계속 뽀얀 메밀 반죽을 가지고 와서 면발을 뽑는데 기다리는 동안 이런 장면들을 계속 눈으로 확인할 수 있어서 좋더군요. (아내도 이런 부분이 마음에 들었다고 하더군요. ) 그리고 카운터에 계신 분(사장님으로 추정)이 빈자리 생기면 일사분란하게 손님들 자리 배정해주고 일하시는 분들도 재빠르게 잘 움직이시더라고요. 더운 날 사람들이 그렇게 기다리며 먹는데도 클레임을 걸거나 큰소리가 나오는 것을 한 번도 못 봤습니다. 화장실은 아예 가보지 않아 위생상태를 확인하지 못해서 조금 아쉽네요. 건물은 낡았지만 자리는 깔끔했습니다. .. 궁남지 연꽃축제 기간이어서 사람이 더 많았던 것 같습니다. 연꽃축제는 다음주 까지던데... 연꽃들이 한꺼번에 좌~악 핀 게 아니라 어떤 건 이미 졌고, 어떤 건 아직 봉우리만 있고, 생각만큼 화사하진 않더라고요. 가실 분들은 타이밍 잘 맞춰서 가셔야 할 것 같습니다.
