한 회사에 불규칙적으로 지각하는 바디 프렌드 아니, 베스트 프렌드가 있습니다. 그의 직업이나 직종이 궁금하실수도 있겠습니다만, 그의 고용 안정과 회사 평판을 고려하여, 회사명과 근로자의 이름은 밝힐 수는 없습니다. 기자가 정보원을 보호하듯, 저는 그의 지각을 응원하고 싶어졌습니다. 그렇지만 마음은 너무 무형의 자원이라 티가 나지 않는 듯 싶어서 행동으로 보여주고 싶었어요. 그의 지각 행위를 옹호하기 위해 퇴근 하고 사흘 저녁을 내리 써서 페이퍼를 완성했습니다. 유명 정치인의 자녀들도, 과학고 외국어 고등학생들도 논문을 쓰는데. 오랜만에 나도 한 편 쓰고 싶었다는 욕망이었어요. 논문 주제는 지각의 유용함. 일반적으로 대중은 지각이 나쁘다고 인식하죠. 그러나 지각은 ‘마냥 나쁘지 않다는 것’을 사고실험하고 싶었거든요.  처음에는 결론만 짧게 쓰고 개그물로 소비하려 했는데, 조사하다보니 지각은 어디서부터 기원했는지, 우리는 왜 지각을 부정적으로만 바라봤는지 궁금해졌어요. 그래서 없는 학회에 창조 경제 마크를 붙이고, 공신력 없는 웹 사이트의 기사까지 영끌해서 논문 흉내를 냈습니다. 이렇게 갖은 고생을 사서 하니, 사흘 동안 열을 올린 것이 아까워져버렸어요. 그래서 학술지 아카이브 사이트인 Vixra에 논문을 제출했어요. 그리고 제출한지 9시간 30분만에 억셉(accept) 메일을 받았습니다! 역시 Vixra. 앞으로도 사흘 이상 쓰는 궤변은 이곳에 게재를 시도해 봐야겠어요. 블랙리스트 오르기 전에 열심히. 논문 전문은 여기서 볼 수 있어요. 본문은 생각보다 재미가 없을 것지도 몰라요. 대신 그림으로 웃겼어요. 이 논문은 대한민국에서 발생할 수 있는 ‘용서받을 수 있는 수준’의 지각 시간을 누적하고 효용을 측정해요. 우선 지각을 사회적 현상으로 분류했고, 사회적 현상이 가져다 줄 경제성을 추정했어요. 학회지 분야는 사회과학. 참고로 제 졸업 전공은 공학이에요. 엄밀함을 추구하고 진리를 탐구하는데 평생을 바쳐도 될까 말까할 사람이 이런 일이나 하고 다니니. 지인 중 몇몇이 혀를 차는 모습이 머리속을 스치네요. 그러나 과학은 진리가 아니라 주장이며, 과학도 철학. 그러니까 “과학철학”임을 생각해봅니다. 저는 합리적 인간들의 냉철한 눈빛 아래 스러지게 되는 날에도, 결단코 굴욕치 않고 자랑스럽게 궤변을 늘어놓을 것을 자랑스런 태극기 앞에 굳게 다짐합니다. 사흘 밤낮으로 친우를 글로써 응원하다보니 배운 점이 많았어요. 여기에 배운 점을 항목별로 나누고 몇 가지만 추려 볼게요. 1. 몇 번만의 검색과 그럴싸해보이는 인용으로 우리는 원하는 모든 말을 근거 있어 보이도록 지어낼 수 있다. 2. 논문을 볼 땐 논문 자체의 메시지 뿐만 아니라 인용한 자료의 출처와 공신력을 꼼꼼히 체크하자. 특허 출원 번호는 특허 등록이 아니다. 출원 번호는 은행에서 발급하는 순번표 같은 것이다. 그것은 제 차례가 되어 창구에 앉을 수 있기 까지 하늘거리는 종이 쪼가리 말고는 아무것도 아니다. 3. 논문 자체가 등재된 학술 기관의 분야와 임팩트 팩터를 꼭 확인하자. 4. 요즘엔 가짜 뉴스, 가짜기관도 많다. 겉모습이 그럴싸한 언론 기관의 홈페이지나 수상한 자료는 다시 한 번 공신력을 점검하자. 5. 만약 논문의 주장이 의심스럽다면 게재자가 고의로 누락한 정보가 있지 않은지 신경을 곤두세우자. 6. 이번 논문에서 저자는 ‘휴가 기간 정보’를 고의로 누락했다. 프랑스와 대한민국의 여름 휴가 기간당 소비 비용을 정보를 추가할 경우, 대한민국 노동인구가 하루에 소비하는 휴가 비용이 동일 기준 프랑스보다 크기 때문이다. 이것은 논문이 주장하는 바에 정면 대치한다. 필자는 이것을 고의로 누락했고, 이것은 처음부터 지각과 휴가를 연결시키는 주장을 의심하고, 물음을 던지지 않으면 직관적으로 떠올리기 까다롭다. 7. 나무위키 인용은 하지 말자. 위키피디아도. 편집은 누구나 할 수 있으며, 그 누구나는 전문가가 아니어도 된다. 한때 위키피디아 편집자로 활동한 경험에 의하면, 위키러(주: 위키피디아 편집자)들은 형식이 맞고 문장 구조를 해치지 않으면 수정 신청을 승인하는데 관용적이다. 8. 나무위키발 출처를 함부로 기록하지 말자. 나무위키는 정보가 넓고 얕다. 이 단체가 기록한 정보는 당신의 어떤것도 보장해주지 않으며, 만약 당신이 검증없이 1차적으로 사용한 정보가 틀린 것으로 밝혀질 경우, 당신의 전문성을 의심받을 수 있다. 9. 주장과 그 근거는 반드시 크로스체크하자. 10. 크로스체크, 상호검정, 교차검정, 더블체크, 이중점검, 재점검, 재확인, 다른 방식으로 검증, 여러 방식으로 검증, 검정방식 재점검, 재확인. 말이 쉽지 실험중엔 놓치기 쉽다. 11. 만약 크로스체크가 없다면, 게재자가 고의로 누락한 정보가 없더라도 추가 정보 한 방에 무너지는 주장을 펼친 꼴이 될 수 있다. 12. 논문 심사자들은 당신의 도덕성, 양심과 자신의 배경지식에 근거하여 논문을 검토한다. 암묵지에 당신이 도덕성을 훼손하거나 양심을 저버리고, 심사자들의 배경지식을 뛰어넘는 주장을 한다면 이들은 결함 있는 논문을 통과시킬 테고, 이것의 진실이 드러났을 땐, 이미 돌이킬 수 없이 당신의 주장이 펼처져 있을 수 있다. 이것은 부끄러운 일이기도 하겠지만, 큰 물의나 사회적 파장을 일으킬 수 있다. 논문 조작, 관대한 실험으로 인해 벌어진 사회적 사건들이 기억을 스친다. 양심을 지키고, 크로스체크하자. 마지막으로 유사 페이퍼를 쓰다 보니 친구를 응원하는 마음보다 한 번 시작한 일은 끝을 보겠다는 마음이 커졌어요. 결국 논문 마지막 즈음엔 스스로 즐겼음을 고백합니다. 관점을 뒤집고 악마의 변호인(devil’s advocate)이 되어보니, 괴테의 희곡 <파우스트>에서 메피스토와 타협하는 파우스트와 신의 관점에서 이야기를 만드는 괴테의 심경이 깨나 흥미진진했을 것 같네요. 끝으로, 기행에 온 에너지를 쏟게 해 준 친우에게 깊은 감사 인사를. 그리고 국민소득 3만불 시대에 걸맞는 근로 사회를 도래시키기 위해 끊임없이 저항하는 그의 성실성에 무운을 기원합니다. 그는 선각자이자 선구자이며, 만일 그의 혁명이 성공한다면, 그는 대한민국 출근계의 체 게바라로 추앙받아 마땅할 것입니다. p.s: 말도 안 되는 궤변을 끝까지 재밌게 읽어주셔서 감사해요. * Cascade님에 의해서 티타임 게시판으로부터 게시물 복사되었습니다 (2019-12-10 22:35) * 관리사유 : 추천게시판으로 복사합니다. 여러가지 생각을 하게 됩니다.
업무의 평가가 '퍼포먼스 베이스'이면 어떨까 생각을 해봅니다.
몇시간을 일하던 정해진 성과가 나오면 되는 걸로.
그러나 이렇게 바꾸기엔 우선 직무 분석이 제대로 된 곳이 거의 없고,
실적이 없는 사람에 대해 '성실함'으로 커버하는 문화가 굉장히 강하죠
('저 친구는 실력은 부족하지만 성실하기는 해' - 이게 일신우일신 과 같은 유교적 정서가 아닌가 싶어요)
또 관리자들도 '자신들이 실력이 부족해지는 때'를 대비해서 미리미리 성실함이 중요하다는 밑밥을 깔아놓기도 하고요.
