지난번 여러번 홍차넷에 정관수술 문의 및 관련글을 올렸기에 많은 조언 및 관심 주신분들께 보답하는 의미에서라도 후기를 올리는 것이 맞다고 생각되어 오늘 받은 정관수술 후기를 올려봅니다. 어째 좀 주절주절… 내용에 군더더기가 많을 수도 있는데 제 솔직한 감상이므로 감안하고 읽어주시고 소재가 소재인만큼 불가피게 19금(?) 내용이 포함될 수 있으므로 양해 부탁드립니다. 정관 수술, 그 마음의 준비 보통 정관 수술은 가족이 완성되었다고 생각할 때 선택하게 되지요. 저는 5세, 3세 두 명의 자녀를 둔 아빠입니다. 사실 둘째가 태어났을 때 이제 더 이상 내 생식능력은 필요없어…! 하는 생각에 그때부터 정관수술을 생각했지만, 사람 일이 어떻게 될지 모르니까 둘째가 적어도 돌은 넘길 때까지 기다려보자… 하고 미루어 두었지요. 정관 수술을 준비하는데 뭐니뭐니해도 가장 중요한 것은 부부의 동의겠지요. 보통 일반적인 경우라면 원치 않는 임신이 되었을 경우 어떤 선택을 하던지간에 아무래도 아내쪽에서 신체적인 부담이 크니까, 아내 쪽에서 하기를 원하고 남편쪽에서 살짝 무서워하는? 그런 분들이 많지 않을까 하는데, 반대로 남편 쪽에서 강경하고 아내 쪽은 서운해하는 그런 경우도 상당히 있다고 하더라고요 당장 저만 해도 둘째 키우면서 으아아 육아는 이제 더이상은 NAVER, 묶자! 하는데 부부가 잠정적으로 동의한 상태였고, 올해 2월에 수술 받으러 휴가까지 받아 두었습니다. 그런데 막상 수술날짜가 되니까, 아내쪽에서 오히려 ‘그거 꼭 해야돼…?’ 하는거에요. 으잉? 너도 원하는거 아니었어? 그런데 이게 또 남편 몸에서 아이 만들수 있는 기능을 아예 삭제한다는게 아내 입장에서도 뭔가 좀 껄끄러운게 있나 봅니다. 뭐 굳이 당장 해야 하는것도 아니고 그래서 그럼 다음에 하자… 사실 나도 좀 무서웠어… 하면서 미뤘죠. 그런데 4월에 다시 정관수술 이야기가 나온 이유는 첫 여름휴가로 동남아 해외여행을 선택하면서부터 였습니다. 아내가 ‘그… 거기가면… 아무래도…’ 로 시작해서 지금 정관수술을 받는게 좋지 않을까…? 로 전개가 되더라고요. (읏흥) 뭐 저는 이미 2월에 한번 마음을 먹었기에 이번에는 별 고민없이 다시 회사에 휴가를 받고 날짜를 정했습니다. 그게 오늘이었지요. 서론이 길었는데… 오늘 있었던 따끈따끈한 정관수술 후기를 흐름대로 적어보겠습니다. 수술받을 비뇨기과 찾기 정관 수술 그거 별거 아닌 수술이에요, 가까운데 가세요. 가 홍차넷에서 선배님들이 해주신 조언이어서 저도 왔다갔다 불편하지 않게 일단 거리상으로 가까운 비뇨기과를 검색해서 선택했습니다. 미적미적 거리기보다 그냥 비뇨기과 의원 열자마자 빨리 수술받고 집에서 쉬자! 해서 오픈시간인 9시 반에 맞추어 의원을 찾았는데요, 아 딱 건물앞에 도착하자마자 그닥 기분이 안좋았던게 4층인 의원 유리창 위에 붙어있어야 할 의원 간판? 이 지저분하게 벗겨져 있는거에요. 아니 폐업했나? 해서 전화해봤더니 네 진료하러 오세요~ 하고… 아무리 별거 아닌 수술이라지만 그걸 보고 나니 찜찜한 생각이 들면서 아... 여기서 받아야하나…? 굳이? 하는 생각이…. 그러다가, 에잉 뭐 큰수술도 아니라는데… 내가 너무 예민한 거겠지 하면서 의원쪽으로 발걸음을 옮겼습니다. 그런데 비뇨기과가 있는 4층까지 올라가야 하는데, 하필 엘리베이터가 고장나 있는 겁니다! 그것도 2대 모두! 허….. 아 이걸 걸어서 올라가? 하다가 아니야… 이건 무엇인가 내 발걸음을 막는 무언의 메시지야…! 하면서 다른 비뇨기과를 찾기로 결심하였습니다. 저는 신앙이 있는 사람인데 이건 하나님의 뜻일거야…! 하면서 그 뜻이 있는 다른 비뇨기과를(...) 찾기로 결심하고 발걸음을 돌렸습니다. (사람이 이럴때 신앙찾게되죠…) 그래서 다시 카카오 지도에서 다음 가까운 비뇨기과를 검색했습니다. 그래도 걸어서 갈 거리는 아니고 차타고 몇분 이동해야 하더군요. 그렇게 다음 비뇨기과로 이동했습니다. 그렇게 두번째로 찾은 비뇨기과는… 역시 첫인상이 그다지 좋지가 않았는데 일단 건물도 낡았고 비뇨기과 자체도 좀 허름했습니다. 다시한번 속으로 ‘별거아닌 수술… 별거아닌 수술…’ 을 되뇌이면서 접수하고 원장선생님 면담을 했는데요, 아 여기 원장 선생님이 또 좀 상당히 특이하셨어요. 일단 나이가 꽤 되시는 남자 선생님인데, 외모는 자그마한 체구에 마르셨는데 어깨까지 오는 장발(!)이셔서 흔히 만날수 있는 의사선생님의 외모는 아니었습니다. 그리고 목소리가 정말 개미목소리처럼 작으셔서 하시는 말씀을 여러번 다시 물어봐야 했어요. 어쨌든 기본적인 정관수술에 대한 상담을 받고난 뒤, 정관을 한번 찾아봐야 한다고 수술실 쪽으로 들어오라고 하시더군요. 그래서 수술실이라는 곳으로 들어갔는데, 아아…. 그곳의 풍경은 뭐랄까 뭔 세탁실 같은 곳에 들어왔다고나 할까요... 수술실이 그다지 청결해 보이지 않고 뭐 빨래건조대도 세워져 있고(...) 아 이건 뭐지..? 싶었습니다. (아 제발 별거아닌수술… 별거아닌수술…) 어쨌든 선생님이 절 눕혀놓고 바지 벗으세요 해서 바지만 벗었는데 선생님이 가만히 내려다 보고 계셔서 주춤주춤 팬티까지 벗었습니다. 그러고나니 손에 비닐장갑 끼시고 이리저리 제 고환 주변을 조물딱 조물딱 만지시더군요. 제가 좀 간지러움을 많이 타는 편이라 웃음참느라 혼났는데... 그런데 제 예상보다 좀 더 긴시간을 한참 조물딱거리시더니 무표정한 얼굴로 바지 올리고 밖으로 나오라고 하시는거에요 그래서 주섬주섬 다시 옷을 입고 원장실로 들어갔습니다. 그러니 원장선생님이 정관이 보통 사람보다 좀 깊이 위치해 있다, 오른쪽은 좀 깊이 있는 수준이고, 왼쪽은 아예 고환쪽으로 딱 붙어 있어서 다른 사람보다 수술 시간이 좀 많이 걸릴것 같다. 여기에서 수술 할 수는 있는데 사실 이런 작은 개인병원에서는 그시간에 다른 환자도 받아야 하니(솔직함 무엇…?) 다른 곳으로 가봐라 하시는거에요. 그래서 제가 어디로 가야하오…. 하니 뭐 인터넷에 남성수술 전문병원 치면 많이 나올텐데? 하시다가 어디 한 병원을 추천해 주셨습니다. 그리고 저는 여기서부터 살짝 긴장이 되기 시작했죠. 저는 정말 그냥 딱 아침에 병원가서 뚝딱뚝딱 수술하고 쉬어야지 하고 있었는데 벌써 두 번째 병원을 찾았고 그 병원에서 제가 평균보다 약간 어려운 수술이 될 수도 있다는 소식을 들었으니… 다음 병원으로 차를 몰면서 저도 모르게 혼잣말로 ‘고자되기도 디게힘드네…’ 하는 말이 튀어나왔습니다. 드디어 수술받을 병원으로 추천받은 병원에 도착하니 벌써 오전 11시정도 되었습니다. 접수하고 의사선생님 만나서 상담하면서 ‘이전 병원에서 여차저차해서 이 곳을 추천해주셨어요’ 하니까 의사선생님이 피식 웃으시더라고요. (아니 왜…?) 추천해 주신 그 의사선생님과 친분이 두텁지는 않아 보였습니다. 이야기해도 잘 모르시더라고요. 병원은 깔끔해 보이고 의사 선생님도 젊은 분이셨는데 신뢰감 가게 설명 잘 해주셨습니다. 이런 저런 상담하고 지금 바로 수술할거냐 물어보셔서 괜찮다 라고 했습니다. 상담 내용은 별거 없습니다. 현재 자녀는 몇명이냐, 아내랑 동의는 되어 있냐. 그리고 수술 동의서 쓰는데 각종 부작용 있을수있다, 천분의 몇명꼴로 합병증, 출혈, 통증 발생할 수 있다. 그리고 천분의 한명꼴로 저절로 재생할수도 있다 하는데 인터넷으로 찾아봐서 미리 알고있는 내용이라 동의서에 서명했습니다. 동의서 서명하니까 처방전 써주고 일단 옆에 있는 약국가서 약 타오라고 하시더군요. 약국 가면서 시계를 보니 벌써 11시 반이라 그럼 수술은 오후에 하려나…? 하고 살짝 긴장되어서 화장실도 갔다왔는데, 약 타서 다시 비뇨기과로 돌아가니 안쪽에 있는 수술실로 바로 들어가라고 하더라고요. 수술실 가니 아까 그 의사분과는 다른 분이 대기중이셨습니다. “머리 이쪽으로 하고 누우시고 바지랑 팬티 무릎까지 내리세요. 손은 가슴쪽으로 모으시고요” 하셔서 시키는대로 하자 가림막으로 가린 다음 제 그곳 주변에 뭔가를 치덕치덕 바르시더라고요. 아마도 소독약이었던 것 같습니다. 수술 전에 그곳 주변 면도한다는 글도 본 것 같은데, 저는 면도는 하지 않았습니다. 그리고 기다리니 아까 그 의사선생님이 들어오시면서 수술 과정 간략히 설명하면서 한쪽씩 진행한다고 합니다. 이제 본격적으로 수술이 시작됩니다. 의사선생님이 국소마취주사 놓으면서 “긴장하면 정관이 숨어버리니 긴장하지 마세요” 하는데 아니 긴장이 어떻게 안되겠습니까 ㅋㅋㅋ 그래도 최대한 힘 빼려 노력했습니다. 마취주사 놓을때 “따끔합니다” 하면서 주사 놓는데 정말 따끔합니다. 전체 수술과정에서 통증이라 할 만한건 마취주사 밖에 없었던 것 같습니다. 마취 주사 놓아주시면서 수술중에 통증이 느껴지만 언제라도 마취주사 더 놓으면 되니까 말하라고 하십니다. 그 이후로도 수술 중에 수시로 통증이 있는지 체크해 주셔서 환자로서 좋았던 것 같습니다. 마취주사 놓는거 말고 그 다음에 “아플수 있어요” 하시는게 있는데, 실제로 왼쪽은 살짝 통증이 있었고(마취주사보다는 안아픔) 오른쪽은 아무느낌 없었습니다. 뭐하는건지는 모르겠지만 뭐 구멍뚫거나 정관 꺼내는거였던가 했겠죠 그리고 왼쪽 수술을 진행하시는데 왼쪽만 해도 가위 소리가 여러번 나서 언제 잘랐는지 잘은 모르겠습니다. 뭔가를 자르고 묶고 투닥투닥 하시는데 마취한 곳을 만지는 특유의 묵직한 느낌은 있지만 통증은 전혀 없었습니다. 물론 유쾌한 기분은 아닙니다 ㅋㅋㅋㅋ 그리고 나서 마무리로 레이저로 따다다다닥 하는 소리가 납니다. 잠시 뒤에 살 타는 냄새가 나는데요, 이게 불쾌하다는 분도 계시지만 저는 아무 느낌 없었습니다. 그리고 나서 잠시 뒤 왼쪽이 잘 끝났다는 말과 함께 이제 오른쪽 시작하겠다고 합니다. 이전 병원에서 좀더 어려울수 있다고 한 왼쪽이 먼저 무사히 끝나서 한시름 놓았지만, 아직 긴장을 늦출 수는 없었습니다. 의사선생님이 정관 위치가 깊긴 했지만 환자분이 긴장 안해줘서 수월하게 끝났다고 칭찬, 격려해 주셨습니다. 사소하지만 제정신인 채로 그 수술받는 입장에서 힘이 되더라고요.(..) 오른쪽도 왼쪽과 동일하게 마취 주사 놓고, 투닥투닥 수술을 진행합니다. 한가지 특이사항은 오른쪽은 진행할 때 묶는 과정에서 뭐가 잘 안되었는지 “빠질수도 있을것 같으니까 한번 더 할게요” 하시면서 좀더 투닥투닥 하셨습니다. 최대한 힘 빼면서 긴장 안하려고 했지만, 긴장 안하려고 노력하는 것도 힘든 일이라서 그때쯤 되니 땀이 송골송골 나더라고요. 제발 무사히 끝나라… 무사히 끝나라… 천장 보면서 계속 기도했습니다. 수술이라는 게 어떻게 될지 모르는 것이잖아요. 그리고 마침내 오른쪽도 무사히 끝났습니다! 선생님이 말씀해 주시니 그제야 저도 마음이 놓였습니다. 수술 잘 끝났다 하시며 잠깐 지혈할게요 하시더니 한 1분간 의사선생님이 제 고환 붙들고 계시더군요. 그리고 고환 덜 흔들거리도록 고정하기 위해서 반창고를 붙여 주시는데, 내일 샤워하시면서 이거 뗄때 털이 뜯어지면 아프니까 가위로 털을 잘라가면서 뜯으시면 덜아플거에요 하는 친절한 설명까지 덧붙여 주셨습니다. 그리고 이제 일어나서 천천히 옷 입으시고 나오세요 하며 수술해주셨던 두 분은 밖으로 나가셨습니다. 오랜만에 만나는 듯한 제 그곳을 내려다보니 반창고로 고정이 되어 있고 주변에는 빨간 소독약이 발라져 있더군요. 조심스레 몸을 일으킨 다음 옷을 챙겨입고 천천히 밖으로 걸어 나왔습니다. 1초 1초가 길게 느껴지는 수술 시간이었지만 시간을 보니 아직 12시도 안 되었더군요. 수술시간은 한 20분 정도였던것 같습니다. 수술비는 30만원이었고요, 그렇게 결재하고 운전해서 집에 돌아왔습니다. 집에 오는길에 하필 벚꽃잎이 무정하게 흩날리며 떨어지고 있더군요.(감성무엇…) 집 앞에서 좋아하는 냉면 시켜먹고 일단 집에 누웠습니다. 마취가 서서히 풀리면서, 통증 수치를 전체 0~10 이라고 하면 0에서 1 사이의 통증이라고 할 수 없는 뻐근한 느낌이 듭니다. 남자분들은 아실건데 아내와 여러차례 달콤한 시간을 보낸 다음날은 왠지 모르게 하복부 안쪽에서 좀 뻐근한 느낌이 드는데 딱 그느낌 정도입니다. 오늘 하루는 조심해야 하고 내일은 반창고 떼고 샤워하고 당분간은 좀 조심하면서 지내면 됩니다. 다만 첫째 아들녀석이 워낙 혈기왕성해서(...) 놀아주는 데 좀 조심해야겠습니다. 특히 오늘은 더… 뭐 사실 별것도 아닌데 써놓고 보니 엄청길어졌네요; 그래도 남자로서, 개인적으로는 중요한 일이었기에 순간 순간의 디테일을 살리고 싶었습니다. 혹시라도 생각하시는 분들이 있다면 조금이라도 도움이 되었으면 좋겠네요. 감사합니다! * Cascade님에 의해서 티타임 게시판으로부터 게시물 복사되었습니다 (2019-04-29 13:51) * 관리사유 : 추천게시판으로 복사합니다.
