1. 다른 학교에서 세미나 하러 오신 교수님과 점심을 먹던 중 들은 썰입니다. 이 교수님이 교수 시작한 첫 해에 있었던 일입니다. 교수님이 없는 동안 대학원생이 실험을 하다가 헥세인을 약간 쏟았다고 합니다. 혹시 모르시는 분들을 위해 설명하자면 헥세인은 부탄이랑 비슷하다고 보시면 됩니다. 고로 불 붙이면 잘 타고 가만 냅두면 그냥 기화합니다. 그러니까 이 학생은 그걸 쏟고 나서 그냥 아무것도 안하고 냅두기만 했어도 아무 일이 없었을 겁니다. 그 대신 기화를 돕는답시고 냅다 블로우토치를 가져다 지졌다고 합니다. 다행히 아무도 다치진 않았지만 (그 자체로 기적) 스프링클러 때문에 온갖 기기들이 망가졌고 학생은 그날로 잘렸다고 하네요 2. 전에 있던 회사에서 안전교육 받던 중 소방서 직원분한테서 들은 썰입니다 감자칩 만드는 공장에 대한 얘기였는데, 컨베이어벨트 위로 기름 범벅이 된 감자칩이 오븐을 통과하는 과정에서 감자칩이 가끔씩 불이 붙는다고 합니다. 근데 감자칩이 큰 것도 아니고 그냥 냅두면 대부분 없어지는데, 어느날은 한 놈이 기름을 많이 먹었는지 가만 냅둬도 불이 꺼지질 않았답니다. 그래서 직원들이 '소화기까지 갈 필요는 없고 그냥 호스 가져와서 압축공기 불면 꺼지겠지' 하고 호스를 가져왔습니다. 문제는 그게 압축공기가 아니라 압축 산소였다는거. 마찬가지로 아무도 안 다쳤다고 합니다. (다쳤으면 웃기 미안하잖아요) 3. 썰이라기보단 제 전 직장이 그냥 썰 그 자체입니다. 무려 불산을 청소용으로 쓰는 직업이니 말 다했습니다. (설명충: 불산은 피부에 닿아도, 입으로 들어가도, 코로 들이마셔도 목숨에 지장이 생기는 미친 물건입니다. 무려 유리를 녹입니다.) 화학을 해보신 분들이라면 황이 들어간 물건들은 상당수가 정말 뭐같은 냄새를 자랑한다는 걸 아실텐데, 전 저기서 주기율표에서 황 아래에 있는 셀레늄도 건드려봤고 텔루륨 갖고도 실험해 봤습니다. 근데 셀레늄은 황이랑 비슷한 냄새인데 텔루륨은 냄새가 나쁘다기보단 그냥 본능적으로 '이거 직빵으로 맞으면 목숨이 위험하다' 싶은 괴상한 냄새가 납니다. 아무튼 아직도 살아서 이런 글을 쓰고 있는걸 보면 전 그래도 시키는대로 안전하게 했나 봅니다. 앞으로 제가 썰을 더 만들지만 않길 바랄 뿐입니다 :D * Cascade님에 의해서 티타임 게시판으로부터 게시물 복사되었습니다 (2019-04-14 21:01) * 관리사유 : 추천게시판으로 복사합니다. 보호장갑도 비슷한 문제가 있습니다.
아무리 잘 만들고, 아무리 잘 사용해도 눈에 잘 안보이게 찢어져있거나 구멍이 나있을때가 있어요.
근데 하필이면 이분이 불산을 사용하는데 그런 장갑을 끼고 있었던겁니다.
본인도 모르는 사이에 장갑속으로 불산으 스며들고 있었고, 고통이 느껴져서 황급히 손을 빼고 장갑을 벗었을때는 이미 늦었던거죠.

바로 응급실로 이송해서 중화시킬 약품을 계속 투여하는데, 환자는 이미 극심한 고통을 견디지를 못했다고해요
그래서 응급실에 동행한 이 교수가 모르핀이든 뭐든 진통제 좀 주면 안되냐고했더니
의사가 "정말 미안한데 그럴수가 없다. 몸속의 불산을 다 중화 시켰는지 알수있는 유일한 방법이 고통이 사그러드는 것 뿐이다. 너무 미안하다."라고 대답을 했다고 합니다.
다행히 그분은 치료가 성공적으로 잘 되어서 좀 쉬고서는 별일 없이 회복하셨다고 합니다만, 불산의 위험성에 대해서는 모두가 트라우마가 생길법한 얘기죠.
이 일 이후에 이 교수님은 불산을 사용할때 오히려 보호장갑을 끼지 않는다고 합니다
그리고 조금이라도 물기가 손에 닿으면 그냥 모든일을 중지하고 바로 수돗가로 가서 다 씻어낸다고 해요.
그리고서는 손을 완벽하게 말린 다음에 다시 일하러 가는거죠.
물론 학생들한테 권할수있는 방법은 아니라고...

제가 아는 교수님의 전직장에서 있었던 일이라고 합니다
불산이 무서운 이유 +1이, 불산은 몸에 엄청 해로운데, 정작 피부에 닿았을때 그 고통이 황산이나 염산처럼 즉각적으로 오는게 아니라 시간이 꽤 지나서 피부에 다 스며들고 나서야 고통을 느끼기 시작합니다.
그러면 불산을 사용할때 어떻게 해야할까요? 일반적으로는 랩 코트를 잘 입고, 보호장갑을 끼고 사용해야한다고 생각하겟죠.
보호장갑은 대체로 라텍스 재질입니다. 더 널리 사용되는 라텍스로 만든 장갑 그거 있죠? 그거 가끔 사고 날때 있자나요?
보호장갑도 비슷한 문제가 있습니다.
아무리 잘 만들고, 아무리 잘 사용해도 눈에 잘 안보이게 찢어져있거나 구멍이 나있을때가 있어요.
근데 하필이면 이분이 불산을 사용하는데 그런 장갑을 끼고 있었던겁니다.
본인도 모르는 사이에 장갑속으로 불산으 스며들고 있었고, 고통이 느껴져서 황급히 손을 빼고 장갑을 벗었을때는 이미 늦었던거죠.
