저는 뭐 밀덕도 아니고 아무것도 아니지만 한때 좀 관심을 가졌던 부분이었는데, 우연히 생각나서 예전에 정리해놨던 자료를 꺼내어 다시 한번 써봅니다. 러시아는 표토르대제 때부터 부동항을 얻기 위한 필사의 노력을 합니다. 반면에 전통적인 해양의 제국 영국은 그런 러시아를 막기 위해 전 세계에서 방해를 하죠. 그리고 그 바톤을 미국이 넘겨받아, NATO와 함께 러시아를 차가운 얼음 땅안에 고립시키기 위해 애를 씁니다. 이것이 구 소련, 현 러시아를 향한 미국의 대전략이죠. 그리고 러시아는 아직도 부동항 확보에 대한 의지가 꺽이지 않고있습니다. 얼마전 조지아 전쟁이나 우크라이나 침공 역시 이와 같은 이유 때문이지요. 그래서 러시아의 전술교리는 공세적인 측면이 강합니다. 방어는 뭐....역사적으로 나폴레옹과 히틀러가 러시아를 쳐들어가면 망한다는 사실이 잘 증명되다보니.. 그러다보니 NATO국가의 전술교리는 아무래도 방어 위주가 될 수 밖에 없습니다. 독일, 영국, 프랑스가 주축이 되어 러시아의 침공을 막는 것이죠. 렌카스터 법칙으로 수비측은 공격측보다 세배의 우위가 있습니다. 하지만 공격측에게도 특권이 주어지는데, 공격을 할 시간과 장소를 결정할 수 있다는 겁니다. 전시상황이어서 쌍방이 철저하게 대립하고 있는 상황이라면 모를까, 국가대전략 차원에서의 공세와 수세가 고정되어있는 유럽에서는 수비측이 가지게 되는 부담이 만만치가 않습니다. 그 넓은 전선 중에 어느쪽으로 언제 쳐들어올 지 모르는 거죠. 그렇다고 그 전선을 빽빽하게 수비병력으로 채워넣고 십년이고 이십년이고 유지하기에는 부담이 너무 큰 겁니다. 그래서 현대에서 수비 전술은 대부분 다음과 같은 형태를 유지합니다. (한국 남성분들 중에 GP, GOP 근무하신 분들은 다 아실테지만) 전선 최정방에 띄엄뜨엄 수비 거점을 둡니다. 여기는 일종의 경비초소 같은 개념이죠. 상대가 어디로 쳐들어올지 모르니 최소한의 병력으로 최대한 넓게 퍼트려 놉니다. 이들의 목적은 전쟁 발발시 시간지연입니다. 최대한 시간을 끌어두는 거죠. 그래서 병력의 수는 적게 두더라도 철조망과 지뢰와 각종 장애물로 적의 진격을 최대한 늦춥니다. 그러는 동안 전방에서의 약간 후위에 대기하고 있던 예비부대가 출동을 합니다. 사실상 이 부대가 수비측에서는 최 정예부대라고 할 수 있는데요. 전방 제1선이 버티는 동안 최대한 빨리 기동하여 적의 주력을 분쇄하는 것이 목적입니다.(우리나라에서는 11사단, 8사단 같이 빡세기로 이름난 부대들이 여기에 해당합니다. 이들이 천리행군 훈련을 하는게 괜히 하는게 아니에요...괜히하는건가? ㅎㅎ) 이렇게 해놓으면 수비측에서는 적의 공격에 대비하는데 드는 비용은 최소하면서 방어력은 유지할 수 있습니다. 이게 종심방어입니다. 이러한 방어전술을 깨트리려는 소련/러시아의 전술이 바로 OMG(Operation Maneuver Group), 작전기동군입니다. OMG의 기본 개념은 일단 전체 전선에 걸쳐 일제 공격을 퍼붓는 것입니다. 어느 한 곳이라도 상대의 방어전선에 구멍을 내기 위한 것이고요. 구멍이 뚫렸다 싶으면 바로 작전기동군이 출동하는 개념으로 되어있습니다. 일제 공격이 중요하기 때문에 파괴력이 강한 대포로 정밀하게 쏘는 것보다 한번에 수십발을 쏟아붇는 다련장 방사포를 선호하고, 필요한 경우 핵을 사용하는 것도 고려해놓고 있습니다. 이렇게 되면 수비측에서는 수비예비대를 어느쪽에 투입해야 할지 가늠이 안됩니다. 전지역에 공세가 가해지기 때문이죠. 그러다가 뚫리면 뚫린 곳으로 쳐들어오는 거다보니 수비예비대가 출동하는데 시간이 지연되는 효과가 생깁니다. 전선이 구멍이 나면 이 OMG 부대가 물밀듯이 들어오는데 이들의 목적은 적의 심장부 타격이 핵심입니다. 최대한 빠르게 진격하여 적의 지휘계통을 마비시킨 뒤 적의 부대를 고립하여 각개격파하는 것이죠. 그리고 상대의 영토 내로 최단시간 내에 깊숙히 침투를 하여 적의 주력부대인 전투예비대와 뒤섞이는 것이 목표입니다. 이렇게 개싸움이 시작이 되면 수비측에서 핵을 사용하는 것이 주저되기 때문이죠. 즉, 요약하자면 전선에 몰빵하고 핵을 쓰면서라도 구멍을 낸다. 그다음 최대한 빨리 적 부대와 엉겨붙어서 우리가 핵을 맞을 확률은 줄이면서 개싸움으로 간다.는 겁니다. 그래서 러시아 전차에게 가장 중요한 건 속도입니다. 그리고 달리다 고장나면 죽음이기 때문에 내구성도 좋아야 하고 험지 주파 능력도 서방 전차보다 좋습니다. 그외 뭐 여러가지 성능은 서방 전차보다 떨어지지만, 러시아에서는 그보다 월등히 많은 숫자의 전차들이 개떼같이 달려들면 되는 겁니다. 앞서 전선 돌파시 핵을 쓰는 것도 마다않기 때문에 러시아 전차들은 서방보다 먼저 방사능 차폐기능을 도입하기도 했지요. 그리고 러시아 전차들 중에 뒤에 연료를 드럼통에 채워서 바깥에 싣고 달리는 모습을 보신 분들이 계실 텐데요. 이것도 러시아가 미개해서 그런게 아닙니다. 달리면서 기름넣고 또 달리기 위한 선택인거죠. OMG의 핵심은 이 전차부대이고 이를 지원하는 부대들도 OMG의 특성에 맞게 구성이 됩니다. 포병들도 일반 야포가 아니라 자주포를 선호합니다. 따라다니면서 포를 쏴야 하기 때문이죠. 전투기도 철저하게 OMG를 보호하는 용도입니다. 항속거리? 속도? 이런거 별로 안중요해요. 아군의 육상 OMG를 공격하려는 적의 항공기를 막기만 하면 됩니다. 제공권장악 이런거 별로 안중요합니다. 적의 전투기를 요격해야 하는 육상부대의 방공시스템도 다 트럭에 싣고 따라다닙니다. 특수부대도 마찬가지입니다. OMG가 돌진하도록 교란도 하고 화력지원도 해야 합니다. 그래서 Mi-24 하인드 헬기를 씁니다. 화력 지원도 하고 특수부대 수송도합니다. 아파치 따로 블랙호크 따로 이런건 사치죠. 로켓포도 달고 기관포도 달려있는 헬기가 한대에 10명씩 태우고 날아다닙니다. 남는 공간에는 탄약을 가득 채워서 다닙니다. 총알이 떨어지면 미국 아파치는 부대로 돌아가지만 하인드는 중간에 내려서 재장전하고 다시 떠서 갑니다. 괜히 별명의 "사탄의 마차"인게 아닙니다. 보급도 공중보급을 우선합니다. 세계에서 가장 큰 수송기도 소련제, 세계에서 가장 큰 수송 헬기도 소련제입니다. 자주 보급하는 것은 사실 어려우니 한번에 만땅 채워서 한번 정도의 보급을 하던지, 아니면 보급없이 신속하게 적의 심장부를 장악하는 것이 목표죠. 조지아 전쟁도 그렇고 우크라이나 전쟁도 이와같은 양상으로 전개되었습니다. 순식간에 전선을 밀고 들어온 다음 너무나도 빠른 진격을 하면서 적의 심장부를 제압했죠. 따라서, 러시아의 군사력이 미국과 비교해서 낙후되었다. 후지다 하는 평가를 많이 받지만 전략 자체가 다르기 때문에 1:1 비교는 사실 의미가 없다고 할 수 있습니다. 이런 소련의 교리는 북한에도 남아있어서 북한 역시 OMG 군을 운용하고 있었습니다. 중국도 이런 OMG 교리가 기본인데, 중국 OMG군의 핵심은 전차가 아니라 많은 수의 보병(....)입니다. 이는 마오의 중공인민군 대장정의 경험이 녹여져 있습니다. 이들이 6.25전쟁때 등장했을 때의 충격과 공포로 "인해전술"이라는 말이 나왔는데, 중국-인도 전쟁도 그렇고 중국은 부족한 전차의 기동성을 어마어마한 숫자의 보병들의 [야간 산악 행군]으로 보완을 하는 거죠. 아무튼, 서방 특히 미국의 군사교리는 이런 러시아의 OMG에 대응해서 만들어졌습니다. 일단 전쟁이 벌어지면 OMG군이 어디로 오는지 파악이 힘들고, 자국 영토로 너무 깊이 들어오기 때문에, 전쟁 발발 직전/직후에 먼저 선제적으로 적의 OMG부대를 타격하는 것이 목적입니다. 이를 ALB(Air Land Battle)이라고 합니다. 그래서 미국의 주력 무기는 정확한 정보에 입각한 스텔스, 토마호크와 같은 것들이죠. 여기에는 미국의 월등한 기술력이 있기 때문이기도 하지만, 기본적으로 해양을 바탕으로 움직이고, 국경을 맞대고 있는 적국이 없는 미국만의 특성이 반영되어있다고 볼수 있습니다. 일단, 육군 투입이 매우 어렵습니다. 본토에서 육군을 징집해서 전투지역에 투입하는 것 자체가 시간도 오래걸리고 보급에도 문제가 많죠. 그래서 미국이 본격적인 육군/점령군을 투입한 두 전쟁(베트남/아프가니스탄)에서 모두 엄청난 고생을 하죠. 애초에 미국의 체질에 맞지 않았던 거에요. 그래서 미국은 정찰기, 인공위성에 목숨을 걸고 있습니다. 세계에서 가장 빠른 정찰기, 가장 높이 나는 정찰기가 다 미국에서 만든거고요. 가장 정밀한 타격을 할 수 있는 미사일, 폭탄 등등이 다 미국 군사력의 특징입니다. 이런 미국식 전투의 가장 대표적인 것이 두번의 이라크 전쟁입니다. 이라크의 주력부대들은 전투 개시 몇시간 만에 모두 행동불능에 빠져버리고 무력화되었죠. 참고로 우리나라도 주한미군에 의지한 ALB전략을 적용하고 있는데요. 한 10여년 전부터 갑자기 자주포수량을 늘리고, 국산 전차를 엄청 양산해내기 시작합니다.다련장포도 배치하고..사실 이거 OMG에 가깝습니다.. 오늘은 여기까지. * Toby님에 의해서 티타임 게시판으로부터 게시물 복사되었습니다 (2018-08-21 01:54) * 관리사유 : 추천게시판으로 복사합니다.
