- 김은정(2010). 저소득층 성매매 십대여성들의 성매매와 사회화 과정에 대한 일 연구 : 통상적인 ‘청소년 사회화 과정’에 대한 재고(再考)를 논의하며. 가족과 문화. 22(3). 31-72에 대한 소개입니다. 오픈 액세스가 아니기 때문에, 내용을 모두 풀지는 않습니다. 관심이 있으신 교보문고 스콜라(http://scholar.dkyobobook.co.kr/searchDetail.laf?barcode=4010023116482)를 통해 구하시면 됩니다. - 논문이라는 글의 특징상 내용을 건조하게 다루고 있지만, 기술되는 내용이나 인용들이 감정적인 부담을 줄 수도 있습니다. 제목을 감안하여 주시기 바랍니다. - 항상 강조하고 들어가지만, 2010년에 쓰인 논문이라는 점을 고려해야 합니다. 7년이면 맥락이 달라지기 충분해요. 들어가며 학교를 오가기 위해 꼭 거쳐야 했던 주안역 주변은 '유흥가'가 넓게 펼쳐져 있었습니다. 주변 남학생들 중 일부는 그 주변이 '노도'(노래방 도우미)가 싸다는 이야기를 자기들끼리 나누고는 했습니다. 집값이 낮은 구도심 지역으로 유입되는 가출 청소년들의 수가 많기 때문이라는 이유도 덧붙이면서요. 물론 주안역에서 이루어지는 '노도'는 직접적인 성매매까지 이어지지는 않는다고 하지만, 이 논문을 다운받아 둔 이유는 이러한 간접적인 노출로 인해 '청소년 성매매'가 익숙한 주제였기 때문이었습니다. 학위 논문 연구주제와는 거리가 있어서 이제야 읽네요. 연구에서 동원하는 이론적 자원과 기술해나가는 양상이, 청소녀 성매매라는 현상을 이해하는데 도움이 되는 듯하여 소개합니다. 이 연구가 일반화를 목적으로 하는 것이 아니라는 점을 유념해주세요. 연구자의 문제의식 1990년대 이후 담론의 장에 노출된 청소녀 성매매는 '청소년의 자발성'에 대한 논의를 부각시켰습니다. 이러한 논의는 기존 청소녀 성매매 그리고 여성 성매매 일반이 생계 유지 및 가족 부양이라는 차원에서 희생으로 해석되었던 것과는 달리, 90년대 이후의 성매매가 쾌락 혹은 소비라는 목적을 위해 '자발적으로' 선택하는 것으로 인식되기 시작한 것과 궤를 같이 합니다. 그러나 자발성에 대한 강조는 자칫 사회구조에 대한 고려를 약화시키고 개인의 심리 내적 영역으로 현상을 환원하는 위험성이 존재합니다. 특히 미성년들은 성인과는 달리 사회의 교육 혹은 훈육이 필요한 존재로 간주되기 때문에 성매매를 하는 청소녀들을 '일탈'로부터 '정상'으로 되돌리고자 하는 시도가 이어집니다. 그리고 '교화' 시도에도 불구하고 성매매를 계속하는 청소녀들은 도덕적인 비난의 대상이 됩니다. 하지만 저자 김은정 선생님은 이러한 심리적 환원을 거부하면서, 청소녀들이 성매매 행위에 유입되고 거기에서 빠져 나오지 못하는 현상은 이들이 몸담고 있는 삶의 환경을 종합적으로 살펴보면서 분석해야 한다고 주장합니다. 삶의 환경이란 한 개인을 둘러싸고 있는 가족, 학교, 또래집단, 놀이문화, 가치관, 사회문화적 가치 등을 가리킵니다. 개인은 자신의 삶의 환경과 상호작용하고, 자신의 행위를 선택하면서 성장합니다. 이 과정을 우리는 사회화 과정이라 부릅니다. 또한 논문에서는 한국에서 '학생'으로서의 사회화만을 정상적으로 간주한다는 점도 비판적으로 고려하고자 합니다. 청소년 시기가 '공부해야 할 때'라는 일반적인 언술에 잘 드러나듯이, '학생'이 아닌 사회화 형태는 비정상적으로 간주됩니다. 첫 문단에서 언급했던 '일탈'이라는 표현은 이러한 근원주의적 시각에서 잘 드러내는 표현이지요. 이러한 맥락에서, 저자가 설정한 연구 목적은 다음과 같습니다(pp. 34-35). "첫째, 성매매를 하는 청소녀들의 삶을 통해서 이들을 둘러싸고 있는 삶의 환경을 분석하고, 이 안에서 청소녀들이 어떻게 살아가고 있으며, 성인으로 성장하고 있는가를 분석하고자 한다. 이를 통해, 기존 청소년 성매매를 분석할 때 사용된 개념인 ‘청소년의 자발성’에 대해서 알아 볼 것이다." "둘째, 성매매를 하고 있는 십대여성들의 사회화 과정을 살펴봄으로써, 기존에 인식되고 있던 우리 사회의 청소년 사회화 과정과 비교하여 어떠한 차이를 보이는가를 분석할 것이다. 이를 통해 일반적인 ‘청소년 사회화 과정’ 담론을 다시 짚어보는 시도를 해보고자 한다." 연구의 이론적 배경 서론에서 지적하듯이, 한국 청소년들의 절대 다수는 학생으로 살아가며, 이 때문에 청소년의 사회화와 관한 기존 연구들은 학생으로서의 사회화에 초점이 맞추어져 있습니다. 연구의 대상인 '성매매를 하는 십대 여성'들은 학생이라는 정체성과는 거리가 멀리 떨어져 있음에도 불구하고 학술적 영역에서는 관심을 거의 받지 못했지요. 뿐만 아니라, 기존의 청소년 사회화 논의에서는 청소년을 무성적인 존재로 간주해 왔습니다. 심리학을 중심으로 한 기존 청소년 연구에서 연령에 따른 성장 및 발달의 문제를 더욱 중요한 문제로 인식해 왔던 것을 그 이유로 들 수 있습니다. 추가로 고려해야 하는 것은 청소년이라는 단어에서 드러나듯이 남성의 경험이 보다 보편적으로 다루어져 왔다는 점입니다. 이는 청소년 연구만의 문제라기 보다는, 페미니스트 혹은 젠더 연구자들이 지적하는 여성적 시각의 전반적인 부재와 연결하여 이해해야 합니다. 하지만 젠더에 따라 청소년들의 경험은 분명 달라지는 지점이 있습니다. 또한 이 논문에서 다루는 '성매매'라는 현상에 있어서는 젠더적 경험을 배제하기가 더더욱 힘들지요. 2000년대 중반 이후, 상기한 문제의식에 기반을 두어 성매매 십대 여성에 대해 분석한 연구들은 성애화(sexualization) 과정에 주목합니다. 여기서 성애화 과정이란 "남성 중심의 가부장제 사회 내에서 젊고 어린 여성이 자기의 몸을 상품화 하는 과정"(p.37)입니다. 정의에서 직접적으로 드러나듯이, 이들 연구에서는 가부장적 문화, 빈곤, 영계 선호 남성 문화 등의 구조적 요인들을 짚어내면서 여성의 성매매를 사회적/구조적 병폐의 발현으로 보았지요. 그러나 가부장제 문화 등의 사회구조적 압력에 대한 지나친 강조는, 반대로 십대 성매매 여성들의 행위성을 간과하는 한계가 존재합니다. 인간은 구조에 의해 결정되기만 하는 수동적인 대상은 아니기 때문입니다. 저자는 하우그(Haug, 1997)가 주목한 성애화 과정의 능동성을 바탕으로 기존 연구의 이론적 한계를 극복하고자 합니다. 하우그는 소녀들이 육체를 매개로 하여 자신을 사회구조에 이입시켜 가며 자신의 정체성을 획득한다는 점에 주목하여 성애화 과정을 설명하고자 했습니다. 이 과정을 통해, 소녀들은 여성의 육체가 성적 의미를 획득해가는 과정을 이해해갑니다. 자신의 몸의 가치를 인식하고, 더 나아가 자신의 신체를 상품화하여 경제적인 가치를 획득하기도 합니다. 경제적 이익의 반대급부는 가부장적 사회에서 종속적 위치를 수용하는 것입니다. 그 결과는 슬레이브 걸(slave girl)이 되는 것이지요. 하지만 하우그는 소녀들이 슬레이브(slave)가 되어가는 과정에 수동적으로, 무의식적으로 참여하고 있다고 보지는 않습니다. 이 과정을 다 알고 있으면서도 자발적으로, 능동적으로 참여한다는 입장을 취합니다. 이유는 무엇일까요? 슬레이브화 과정에 참여한 대가로, '다른 경로를 통해서는 획득할 수 없는 지지, 안정감, 권력을 획득할 수 있기 때문(p.38)'입니다. 즉, '사회적 주체가 그들 자신의 종속을 보장하는 실천을 능동적으로 행하게 되는 것으로서, 그에 대한 댓가/보상을 알고 행동하기 때문에, 이들을 단순히 가부장제의 희생자로 볼 수 없다는 것(p.38)'입니다. 하우그의 이론에도 한계점은 존재합니다. 젠더와 행위자의 능동성에 동시에 주목하기는 했지만, 젠더 외에 청소녀들의 삶을 구성하는 다른 요인들을 경시한 것이지요. 하우그의 이론적 전망 하에서는 왜 어떤 청소녀들은 성애화 과정을 거쳐서 성매매를 하게 되지만, 다른 청소녀들은 그렇지 아니하는가를 적절하게 설명하기 힘듭니다. 이는 초기 여성학에서 젠더를 지나치게 강조한 결과 계급, 인종 등의 제반 요인들을 경시했던 문제와도 연관이 되지요. 즉, 젠더와 다른 범주들을 교차하여 분석할 필요가 있는 것입니다. 저자는 이러한 한계를 극복하기 위해, 하우그의 성애화 이론과 브론펜브레너(Bronfenbrenner)가 제시한 삶의 환경 관점을 동시에 고려하고자 합니다. 여전히 젠더는 중요한 요소이지만, 각 주체가 배태되어 있는 다양한 맥락에 따라 성애화 과정은 강화될 수도, 약화될 수도, 무화될 수도 있는 것이지요. 연구참여자 소개 연구는 14명의 청소녀들과의 심층면담을 통해 실시되었습니다. 연구참여자는 청소년 쉼터를 통해 연구에 참여했습니다. 1회 면담 시간은 1시간에서 1시간 30분 정도였습니다. 필요한 경우 추가 면접을 2~3회 실시하기도 했습니다. 연구참여자들의 나이는 14세부터 19세까지이며, 1명을 제외한 13명의 학생들은 모두 학교를 자퇴했습니다. 또한 대부분의 학생들은 부모의 이혼, 부/모 중 일방의 사망 및 가출을 경험했습니다. 연구참여자들의 어머니들은 모두 취업상태에 있었지만 직업 위상은 높지 않았습니다. 아버지 직업 또한 일용직과 비정규직이 높은 비율을 보이고 있었습니다. 대부분의 학생들은 가출 후 성매매를 하면서 생활을 영위했습니다. 본문 중 일부 1. 환경: 기존 청소년 사회화에서 이야기하는 보호체계의 변화 1) 가족관계 연구참여자 소개에서 언급한 것처럼 성매매 청소녀들 대부분은 가족 해체를 경험했습니다. 그리고 가족 해체를 일으킨 요인들이 계속해서 부정적인 영향을 끼친 결과 가출을 결정하게 되었습니다. 기실 한국 내에서 가족 해체 현상이란 특별한 일도 아니고, 그 영향이 꼭 부정적이라고만 볼 수도 없습니다. 하지만 연구참여자들의 사례에서 가족 해체를 일으킨 부모의 스트레스, 폭력 성향, 빈곤 등의 요소들은 가족 해체 이후에도 계속해서 이어졌습니다. 그 결과 통상적인 가족 기능의 결손 및 왜곡이 나타났습니다. 청소녀들은 가족 내에서 자신에게 정서적인 지원을 해줄 수 있는 자가 없다는 것을 깨닫게 됩니다. 부모가 무관심을 넘어 자녀들을 집으로부터 쫓아내는 경우도 보입니다. "우리 엄마 나 다시 온 거 별로 안 반가워 하더라구요. 새아빠한테 좀 떳떳한 딸이었으면 했는데, 그게 안 되니까. 창피한 거겠죠. 내 딸이 가출하고, 쉼터 있었다는 것이 너무 창피한 거지... (중략) ...얼마 있었는데, (엄마가) 당분간 쉼터에 있으라고.. 집에 오지 말고 있으라고 하더라구요. 그래서 다시 나왔죠." (A와의 인터뷰 인용, p. 44) A의 어머니는 이혼 후 적절한 직업을 가질 수가 없어 재혼을 통해 경제적 문제를 해결하고자 했습니다. 새아버지는 A에게 잘해주었지만, A의 어머니는 새아버지의 눈치를 보았습니다. A가 좋은 딸이라는 것을 증명하기 위해 끊임없이 다그치고, 꾸중하는 등의 통제를 했습니다. 이러한 과정에서 A와 A의 어머니의 관계는 갈등적으로 변화하게 됩니다. 각자의 양상은 다르지만, 연구참여자들에게 있어 가족이 더 이상 보호체계가 아니게 되었다는 점은 공통적입니다1). 2) 학교 통상적인 보호체계의 다른 한 축인 학교도 이들을 보호하지 못하는 것은 마찬가지입니다. 가족의 기능적 결손과, 그로 인한 거리에서의 사회화가 교차한 결과 연구참여자들이 학교에서 보이는 행동은 다른 또래와는 달랐습니다. 학교 공부에 흥미를 지니지 못하고, 학교의 규율을 따르지도 않았지요. 교사는 이들을 문제군 학생으로 분류하여 감시하고 통제했습니다. 연구참여자들은 교사들이 자신들의 자퇴를 내심 바란다고 느꼈다고 진술합니다. 또래 집단에게서도 경시와 무시를 느꼈습니다. 연구참여자들은 점점 더 학교라는 공간이 자신들을 배제한다고 느끼게 됩니다.2) 2. 성인을 중심으로 하는 보호체계로부터의 탈피: 통상적인 청소년 사회화 과정 외부에서의 경험 1) 또래관계를 통한 청소년 사회화 과정 상술한 기존 보호체계들의 약화 결과, 청소녀들은 '가출'을 선택합니다. 통상적으로 생각하는 것과 달리 '가출'은 특별한 일을 계기로 고민 끝에 하게 되는 종국적인 결정이 아닙니다. 반복적인 외박/가출 경험의 결과가 축적되면서, 자연스럽게 영구적인 가출로 이어지게 되는 것입니다.3) 반복의 결과 '가출'은 사건이 아니라 이미 일상이 되어 있습니다. 이 과정에서 청소녀, 학교, 가정 사이의 유대는 점차 약화되어 가고 있었지요. 반복적인 외박/가출이 영구화 되는 과정에서 '거리의 친구'는 중요한 역할을 합니다. 가출 이후에도 자신을 돌봐 줄 사람이라 할 수 있는 '거리의 친구'를 통해 청소녀들은 가정과 학교를 넘어 바깥 세상으로 나가게 됩니다. 바깥 세상으로 나간 이후에는 또다른 '거리의 친구'가 되어 다른 친구들을 바깥 세상으로 끌어들이기도 합니다. 동네/지역에서 만나서 함께 놀고, 같이 술/담배를 하거나 노래방에 가는 '거리의 친구'들은 이 청소녀들과 동질적인 환경에 놓여 있습니다. 때문에 연구참여자 청소녀들은 '거리의 친구'들을 통해 정서적 유대, 안정감, 심리적 지지를 얻지요. 거리의 친구들은 연구참여자들에게 성인이 제공하지 못하는 '의미있는 타자'의 역할을 합니다. 따라서 이 청소녀들은 친구들과의 우정과 연대, 동조와 모방을 중요하게 여깁니다. 이 과정에서 일탈 행동은 다변화 되고 강화됩니다. 특히 지위 비행의 대표적인 요소인 술과 담배는 다른 일탈 행위로의 게이트웨이(gateway) 역할을 합니다. 음주 이후 성행위를 비롯한 일탈행위로 미끄러지는 경우가 연구참여자들의 진술로부터 다수 발견됩니다. 2) 또래관계와 소비문화/놀이문화의 형성 일탈 행위의 다변화/강화를 통해 볼 수 있듯이, '거리의 친구'들을 중심으로 구성되는 사회적 연결망은 전통적인 청소년 보호체계를 대체합니다. 가출한 청소녀들은 또래 집단을 통해 생존 기술을 습득하고, 또래들과의 관계 속에서 소비 지향적인 문화를 내면화하게 됩니다. 가출 후 청소녀들은 빈곤을 경험합니다. 식사를 하지 못하고, 굶주리고, 머물 곳/잘 곳이 없다는 사실을 깨달으며 '돈이 없다'는 사실을 절실하게 느낍니다. 생존을 위해 처음에는 친구네 집에서 지내다가, 점차 비슷한 처지의 아이들끼리 무리지어 함께 생활하게 됩니다. 건물 옥상, 찜질방, 고시원, PC방, 모텔 등에서 지냅니다. 이 과정에서 남/녀가 섞여서 생활합니다. 거리의 청소년들 사이에서 예쁜 물건, 옷, 화장품, 핸드폰 등에 대한 관심은 높습니다. 가족에게서 분리되어 성별이 다른 또래와 함께 사는 상황4)과, 미디어를 통해 주입되는 소비재에 대한 욕망이 결합한 결과입니다. 소비재를 구매하기 위해서는 돈이 필요하지만, 부모를 통해 소비욕망을 해결할 수 없는 상황과 노동자로서의 청소년들을 인정하지 않는 사회 구조는 욕망과 해결 방안 사이의 괴리를 낳습니다. 3. ‘십대여성의 몸’의 교환가치 학습 1) 열악한 청소년의 노동현장과 여자 청소년 청소년들을 위한 일자리는 거의 없으며, 그나마 있는 일자리도 노동 조건은 열악합니다. 사회에서는 '학생'을 벗어난 청소년들이 존재한다는 사실을 무시하기 때문이지요. 공식적인 일자리가 제공하는 노동 조건이 열악한 상황에서, 여자 청소년들이 일자리를 구하기란 더욱 요원합니다. 고용주들은 긴 노동시간과 높은 노동강도를 고려하여 남성 청소년들을 선호하기 때문이지요. 뿐만 아니라 바깥 세계에서 성인들과 상호작용을 하면서, 여성 청소년들은 점차 자신들의 '성'과 '연령'이 지닌 교환가치가 가시화 되는 경험을 누적하게 됩니다. "--어~ 청주에서요 겨울에 그거 편의점 알바를 했는데요. 편의점에서 야간 알바를 했어요. 그래 가지고 야간이면은 11시부터 아침 7시까지 하거든요. 밤을 새고. 밤낮이 바뀌니깐 힘들어요... (중략).. 보도5) 언니들하고 삼촌들하고 편의점에 자주 와요. 그래서 예쁘게 생겼다고 몇 살이냐고.. 이런 거 하면 힘들지 않냐고.. (중략).. 여기는 돈 많이 벌면서 시간 별로 안 든다고. 그래서 아니 괜찮다고 그러는데--"(K와의 인터뷰 인용, pp. 50-51) 2) 성매매로의 유입 숙식의 문제를 해결하기 위해 또래 집단과 함께 하는 과정에서 여성 청소년들은 '번개'를 통해 성매매 경험에 익숙해지게 됩니다. '번개'란 인터넷 상에서 남녀 그룹이 연락을 취해서 만나 단기간 혼숙을 하는 행위를 일컫습니다. 단체로 함께 놀러가거나, 술을 마시면서 놀고, 그 과정에서 성관계를 맺는 것입니다. 연구참여자들은 '번개'를 성매매라기 보다는 놀이에 가까운 것으로 해석합니다. 자신들도 그 과정에서 즐기는 부분이 있으며, 번개에서 만나 애인 사이로 발전하는 경우가 있기에 성매매와는 거리가 있다는 입장입니다. 동성 친구가 함께한다는 점도 '번개'를 놀이로 해석하려는 입장을 강화하지요. 하지만 저자는 '번개'가 이루어지는 전제 자체가 여성과의 놀이를 위해 남성들이 숙식 및 유흥의 제반 비용을 제공하는 것이라는 점에서, 엄격한 의미에서 '번개'는 성매매라고 기술합니다. '번개'에 나오는 남성들은 성관계를 기대하고, 여성들 또한 '번개'에서 원치 않는 성행위가 이루어져도 '그냥 일어날 수 있는 일'로 받아들이지요. 그 상황은 어쩔 수 없는 일이며, 성관계를 맺는다 하더라도 성매매와는 거리가 있다는 해석을 취합니다. 그러나 이면에서는 '번개'에는 금전교환이 전제되어 있다는 점을 인정하고 들어가는 부분이 있지요. "--네, 그니까 딱 처음 만나면 딱 술만 먹자. 그치만, 술 먹자 마자 막 더듬고 막 하려고 그러죠. 싫다고 해도 막. 그런 게 젤 진상이에요. 한번은 너무 술이 취해서 하지 말라고 했는데 반항을 제대로 안 했어요. 나중엔 너무 귀찮아서, 너무 정신이 없어서. 그냥 해라... 뭐. 남자들이 다 그렇죠--"(N과의 인터뷰 인용, p. 51) '번개'는 적극적으로 돈을 벌기 위한 시도는 아니지만, 성 경험과 상황에 청소녀들을 익숙하게 만듭니다. 그 결과 다른 성매매 행동에 대한 거부감은 점차 낮아집니다. 이런 와중에 경제적 생존의 문제가 끊임없이 닥칩니다. 청소녀들은 '번개'로는 충족할 수 없는 경제적인 보상을 추구하게 됩니다. 본격적인 성매매 행위인 '조건만남'7)을 시작하게 되는 것입니다. '번개'가 성매매가 아니라는 입장을 견지하던 청소녀들도, '조건만남'이 성매매라는 점은 인정합니다. 대개 '조건만남'은 1:1의 만남에, 대상자의 연령도 30대 이상이며, 성매매 후 받는 금액도 평균 5~7만을 받지요. "--저는 몸매가 좋고, 분위기 연출이 가능해서 어떨 때는 10만원도 벌어요. 그런데, 어떤 애들 보니까 나만 못하게. 정신박약... 이런 애들은 오천 원 받고도 하고요--"(N과의 인터뷰 인용, p. 52) 본격적인 성매매로 접어들면서 청소녀들은 자신들의 몸매와 얼굴이 '가격'과 연결되어 있다는 점을 뚜렷하게 인식하게 됩니다. 10대 소녀들을 성적 대상으로 여기는 어른 남성들의 시선은 청소녀들로 하여금 자신의 신체와 섹슈얼리티가 돈으로 교환될 수 있다는 사실을 학습하게 만듭니다. 때문에 이들 청소녀들이 옷을 사고, 화장품을 사는 행위는 자기 만족과 관련되어 있으면서, 동시에 교환가치를 높이기 위한 투자의 성격을 지니게 됩니다. 뿐만 아니라 청소녀들은 성과 연령을 성인 남성과 교환하는 과정에서 획득하는 가치를 다른 일자리를 통해서 획득하기가 요원하다는 것도 알게 됩니다. '조건만남'은 다른 일자리에 비해 '훨씬 쉬우면서도 보상은 큰' 일거리로 인식되지요. 동시에 성매매에 내재한 위계성 및 폭력, 위험까지도 깨닫게 됩니다. "한국 사회에서 ‘십대 여성’이기 때문에 (공식적으로) 돈을 벌 수 있는 기회가 제한 된 상태에서, ‘십대 여성’이기 때문에 (음성적이지만) 비교적 쉽게 돈을 벌 수 있는 아이러니컬한 상황에 처하게"(pp. 55-56)되지요. 그렇다면 이러한 상황에 대해 청소녀들은 어떻게 대응할까요? 이후의 내용들 논문의 후반부에서는 상기한 아이러니컬한 상황에서 청소녀들의 대응 양상을 정리합니다. 연구참여자 청소년들8) 중에서는 쉼터를 통해 다시 통상적인 청소년 사회화 과정으로 진입을 시도했던 경우도 있었으나, 결과적으로는 좌절을 경험합니다. 그러나 통상적인 사회화 과정으로 재진입을 시도한 사례는 얼마 없었습니다. 흥미롭게도 대부분의 연구참여자들에게 쉼터는 통상적인 사회화 과정으로의 재진입을 위해 방문하는 곳이 아니었습니다. 그 자세한 내역은 청소녀들이 '외부'의 '여성'으로서의 삶의 방식을 수용하는 과정에서 발전시킨 관점과 연관이 깊습니다. 소개가 목적인 이 글에서는 거기까지는 밝히지 않습니다. 다른 논문들이 취했던 해석과는 구분되는 저자만의 관점이 보다 뚜렷하게 드러나기 시작하는 지점이 여기입니다. 이후 글을 마무리 하며 저자는 이론적 배경들을 동원하며 기술했던 양상들을 정리합니다. 어떠한 방식으로 정리가 될지는 위의 이론적 배경들을 참고한다면 어느 정도 짐작이 되는 부분이 있으실 겁니다. 분석의 핵심이 이 지점이니, 소개했던 현상 기술 외에 관심이 가시는 분들은 원문을 찾아주시면 감사하겠습니다 :) 생각해 볼 점 1) 논문에서는 청소녀, 여성 청소년 개념을 섞어서 사용합니다. '청소년'이라는 개념이 젠더 민감성이 부족하다는 관점을 취하고 있기에 가급적이면 문맥을 해치지 않는 선에서 두 용어를 혼용하는 것으로 보입니다. 원저자의 문제의식을 존중하여 용어를 통일하지는 않았습니다. 2) 연구방법론의 특성상 연구참여자들이 구성한 서사를 중심으로 논의가 전개된다는 점을 고려할 필요가 있습니다. 만약 청소녀가 아닌 그들의 가족 입장에서 구성되는 서사를 교차할 수 있다면 우리의 이해는 또 달라지겠지요? 3) 본문 2장에서 기술하는 '거리에서의 사회화' 경험과, 학교 체계에서의 배제 경험 중 무엇이 먼저인지는 논문에서 명확하게 나와있지 않습니다. 원인-결과 같은 관계로 현상을 이해하기 보다는, 양 경험이 서로 상호작용하는 것으로 받아들이는 편이 적절하지 않을까 합니다. 4) '가출'이 결단과 같은 과정이 아니라, 반복 끝에 자연스럽게 넘어가는 단계라는 점은 흥미롭게 느껴졌습니다. 막연하게 결단에 가까운 것으로 인식하고 있었는데, 정작 중/고등학교 시절을 돌이켜 보면 '잦은 외박'과 '가출'의 경계 어디에 위치한 친구들이 더 많았네요. 5) 명시적으로 드러나 있지는 않지만, 논문은 이성애자 여성을 가정하고 서술하고 있습니다. 허나, 논의의 주안점을 고려할 때 섹슈얼리티는 다소 주변적인 것으로 치부해도 될 듯합니다. 6) 본문의 설명을 빌리자면, ‘보도’, ‘보도방’은 노래방, 단란주점, 술집 등 여성을 종업원으로 두고 영업을 하는 장소 또는 영업 형태를 총칭하는 개념으로 사용됩니다. 7) 연구참여자들은 '조건만남'과 '원조교제'를 구분했습니다. 이들에게 원조교제는 일회성의 만남이 아닌 지속적인 만남/사귐으로 정의됩니다. 즉, 이러한 관점에서 원조교제는 성매매와는 거리가 있다는 판단을 합니다. * 수박이두통에게보린님에 의해서 티타임 게시판으로부터 게시물 복사되었습니다 (2017-11-20 18:15) * 관리사유 : 추천 게시판으로 복사합니다.
