아침식사대용으로 먹는 씨리얼 중에 Trix라는 상표가 있어요. Trix씨리얼의 주요광고내용은 이래요. 당근을 먹고 살아야하는 토끼가 있는데 얘는 당근이 싫은 거예요. 자기도 Trix를 먹고 싶은데 Trix는 아이들만 먹는 거래요. 그래서 슬프대요. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GsAHXFyfayE 3년 전 미국의 유명한 대형포탈커뮤니티 Reddit에 이런 발제글이 올라왔어요. ( https://www.reddit.com/r/changemyview/comments/1u26af/i_believe_that_the_rabbit_in_the_trix_commercials/ ) 발제자에 의하면 착한 백토끼가 원하는 건 고작 트릭스씨리얼인데 못된 아이들이 ‘어리석은 토끼야, 트릭스는 아이들을 위한 거야!’라며 절대 안 나눠줘요. 이런 광고는 아이들에게 배타성을 가르치고 자기또래가 아닌 이들에 대한 차별의식을 고취시킨대요. 토끼가 불쌍하고 토끼가 행복했음 싶은 시청자들에게 실망감을 안겨준대요. 결국 광고는 역효과를 불러일으켜서 토끼가 정당한 대우를 받을 때까지 트릭스씨리얼을 사먹지 않겠노라 다짐하게 만든대요. 마치 이런 건 거죠. 결혼은 이성애자들을 위한 것이다. 교육은 백인들을 위한 것이다. 지도자는 남자들을 위한 것이다. 그러면서 마지막에 덧붙이길 "Change my view." 내 마음을 바꿔봐 이래요. 저도 발제글을 읽으니까 차별의식을 고취시킬 수 있겠단 생각이 덩달아 드는 거예요. 그래서 댓글들을 읽어봤어요. 옥수수씨의 껍질에는 토끼가 소화할 수 없는 성분이 있대요. 그리고 장 안에 매복되면 생명이 위험해질 수도 있다고 해요. 트릭스씨리얼의 주요성분은 옥수수이기 때문에 토끼에게 좋지 않대요. 게다가 트릭스사이트에서는 토끼에게 쿠키나 과자, 견과류, 곡식, 씨리얼 등을 먹이지 말라고 공표해 놓았어요. 지방과 탄수화물이 많은 이런 음식들은 토끼에게 지방간, 당뇨 등의 질병을 초래할 수도 있거든요. 이에 발제자가 혹하면서도 동시에 의구심이 또 들었어요. 광고에 나오는 토끼는 의인화된 토끼란 말이죠. 그래서 애완동물이라기보다 사람으로 보게 돼요. 댓글러가 답하기를, 그렇다면 아이들이 씨리얼 먹는 토끼를 보고 진짜 토끼에게 씨리얼을 먹이면 큰일이지 않겠냐고 해요. 결국 발제자는 이 시점에서 설득을 당합니다. 이 발제글이 누군가에게 영감을 불러일으켰어요. 보통 사람들의 마음을 바꾸는 건 참 힘든 일이거든요. 심지어는 팩트를 제공해 주어도 절대로 의견을 바꾸지 않는 이들이 허다해요. 그런데 이 발제자는 그럴듯한 해명이 주어지면 마음을 바꿀 준비가 되어있었던 거예요. 이에 포털사이트 레딧의 하위커뮤니티인 subreddit에는 'ChangeMyView'라는 코너가 등장해서 댓글에 의해 발제자가 의견을 바꾸게 되면 그 시점에 'change'라는 수학적 함의를 담고 있는 Δ, 이런 델타 표시를 달게끔 되어 있어요. 홍차넷회원님들은 이런 저런 토론을 하다가 어느 순간 오.. 그렇구나..하고 마음을 조금이라도 바꾸게 되는 시점이 있으신가요? 토론이 격렬하게 진행되면 실제 내 마음은 흔들리면서도 똥고집을 피우며 반대를 위한 반대를 하기 쉬워요. 그런데 저 커뮤니티에선 미리부터 '내 마음을 바꿔 보세요'하고 멍석을 깔아주니 원활한 토론을 하기가 더 쉬울 것 같아요. 이거 재밌죠. 이 레딧의 서브커뮤니티가 학구적 영감을 또 불러일으켜서 코넬대학에서 이 코너를 2년 간 분석해봤대요. 그래서 타인의 마음을 바꾸는 기술을 요약했더니 일단 타이밍이 중요했어요. 나중에 단 댓글보다 맨 먼저 단 댓글러에 의해 마음이 바뀌는 경우가 많았어요. 그리고 발제자와는 다른 언어를 구사해야 한다나요. 발제자가 climate change란 말을 썼다면 댓글러는 global warming이란 말을 쓰는 것 같은 거요. 그리고 침착한 언어표현이 중요하대요. 중언부언하면 안되겠지만 자세하게 설명하느라 좀 길어진 답변이 발제자의 마음을 바꾸는 데 많은 기여를 한대요. 그리고 '예를 들어', '이를테면'과 같은 표현을 쓰며 증거가 될만한 근거와 쏘스를 제공하면 효과가 좋았어요. 자신감이 없이 들릴지 모르나 그럴지도 모른다는 식의 애매한 표현이 설득에 더 효과가 있다고 하는군요. 그런데 주고받는 댓글이 다섯 개 이상으로 길어지면 효과 꽝이니 포기하래요. ㅋ https://youarenotsosmart.com/2016/10/09/yanss-086-change-my-view/ http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-3441891/How-win-argument-using-science-Experts-reveal-words-use-one-simple-trick-help-way.html * 수박이두통에게보린님에 의해서 티타임 게시판으로부터 게시물 복사되었습니다 (2017-03-20 08:16) * 관리사유 : 추천 게시판으로 복사합니다. 너 틀렸다, 왜 그렇게 하니 소리 듣기 싫어하고.
전 지금도 그런 거 같습니다.
인터넷게시판에서 정치토론할 때도 그런 거 같아요.
나 잘했지 소리 한번 들으려고 기껏 글 쓰고 댓글 쓰는데 너 틀렸어 소리 들으면 어떻게든 꼬투리 잡아서 아니 니가 틀렸어.
내가 생각하고 내가 취합한 정보는 아니지만, 내가 좋아하는 형이 얘기한 거니깐 맞겠지 하고 얘기하는데 형도 틀릴 때 있거든요.

엄청나게 노력하죠.
너 틀렸다, 왜 그렇게 하니 소리 듣기 싫어하고.
전 지금도 그런 거 같습니다.
인터넷게시판에서 정치토론할 때도 그런 거 같아요.
나 잘했지 소리 한번 들으려고 기껏 글 쓰고 댓글 쓰는데 너 틀렸어 소리 들으면 어떻게든 꼬투리 잡아서 아니 니가 틀렸어.
내가 생각하고 내가 취합한 정보는 아니지만, 내가 좋아하는 형이 얘기한 거니깐 맞겠지 하고 얘기하는데 형도 틀릴 때 있거든요.

어릴 때 잘했어 칭찬, 너 착하다, 너 멋있다 소리 한 번 듣기 위해서
엄청나게 노력하죠.

그래서 키배를 안합니다.
안 싸우면 안 지더라고요. 키배하면 몸도 힘들고 마음도 힘들어요.
좋은 얘기만 듣고 싶고 비판에 날 서면 내가 틀렸다는 거 인정하기 어렵죠.
마음에 여유가 있으면 그나마 수긍하게 되는 거 같아요. 꼭 칭찬 안 받아도 돼. 틀릴 수도 있어. 그래도 나는 잘못되지 않았어.
암튼 전 잘못되지 않았으니깐용
