오늘 주선재군 선생님의 1심 판결이 나왔고 현재 주호민씨의 방송으로 하루종일 온 커뮤니티가 불타오르고 있습니다. 몇번인가 제 아이에 대한 글을 쓴적이 있지만 저희 아이도 선재군과 같은 자폐아입니다. 올해 7살이고 내년에 학교를 들어가야하는 나이죠. 현재도 유치원 특교자로 등원하고 있고 정말 감사하게도 좋으신 선생님과 친구들, 학부모님들이 계셔서 느리지만 조금씩 좋아지고 있습니다. 이런글을 쓰는게 맞는건지 어떤지도 사실 잘 모르겠습니다. 이런글을 썼다가 괜한 욕을 먹는게 아닌가...하는 생각도 들고... 그냥 자폐아이들의 부모에 대한 마음에 대한 토로라고 봐주시면 좋을거 같습니다. 저희 아이 이야기를 잠시 해보자면 3살즈음 자폐가 아닐까 의심되어 검사를 받고 자폐판정을 받았고, 50개월까지 무발화에 호명반응조차 어려운 아이였습니다. 그러다 50개월즈음 말을 시작했고 그 이후로 기적적으로 좋아지기 시작했죠. 뭐..7살인 지금도 여전히 간단한 의사소통은 되지만 제대로된 대화는 되지 않고 대화를시도해도 반향어가 먼저 나오고 하는 행동은 여전히 서너살 아이와 같습니다. 제 아이가 어린이집을 다니던 시절이였습니다. 어린이집은 특교반이란게 없는 곳이라 일반 친구들과 함께 지내게 되었죠. 그때 만났던 선생님들 중에 항상 하원할때 피드백을 주셨던 선생님이 계셨습니다. 하지만 자폐아이에 대한 피드백이라 봐야 당연히 부정적인게 많죠...그때 아내와 많이 속상해하고 힘들어 했습니다. 선생님에 대한 원망도 컸었구요. 그런데 조금 더 유심히 살펴보고 선생님이 아이를 대해주시는 모습을 보니 그 부정적인 피드백안에 정말 많은 애정이 숨어있었습니다. 선생님 나름대로는 자폐아이를 교육하신 지인분들께 조언도 구하시고 자료도 많이 찾아보시고 집에서도 이렇게 해주십사 피드백을 주신거였죠. 저희는 아이를 교육하는거 자체에 지쳐있는 상태라 선생님의 그런 애정을 원망으로 받아들였구요. 물론 그렇게 알게된 이후에는 선생님의 피드백도 감사히 받아들였습니다. 그 다음해였나...다다음해였나 저희 아이를 담당해주셨던 선생님도 가끔 하원때 저희 아이때문에 조금 힘들었다는 말씀을 하시곤 했습니다. 처음엔 그렇게 말씀해주신 선생님이 또 원망스러웠어요. 하지만 이것도 시간이 조금 지나고 되짚어보며 생각하니 많은 수의 아이를 케어하시는데 저희 아이 하나로 수업이나 활동이 힘들어지니 이부분에 대해 의견을 말씀해주신 부분이였습니다. 그때의 선생님도 저희 아이를 너무나 사랑해주셨는데 또 처음엔 저희가 삐딱하게 받아들인거죠. 장애가 있는 아이의 부모는 이렇게 모든 주변 환경에 부정적인 생각이 먼저 들 수 밖에 없습니다. 이미 아이의 장애로 인해 지칠대로 지쳐있는데 상대방의 진심이나 내면까지 자세하게 들여다볼 여유조차 없거든요. 하지만 그렇다고 선생님들의 학생에 대한 애정과 사랑을 외면해서는 안된다고 생각합니다. 주군을 담당하신 선생님도 아마 비슷한 경우가 아닐까 생각합니다. 오늘 피지알에서도 나왔던 이야기인데 어찌되었든 학생에게 그런말을 하는건 교사로서 자격이 없다 라는 이야기를 종종 보았습니다. 주변 지인이나 비슷한 처지의 사람들과 가끔 하는 이야기인데, 참...제 아이한테 이런 이야기를 하면 안되겠지만 자폐 아이는 짐승 한마리한테 사회성을 가르쳐 최대한 사람과 같이 만드는 행위라고 말을 하곤 합니다. 미취학 일반적인 아이들도 훈육을 하는게 그렇게 힘든데 자폐아동이라면 그 어려움이 몇배로 들어가는게 사실이죠. 그래서 자폐아동에게는 보통아이들보다 훨씬 강하고, 단호하고, 가끔은 아이에게 상처가 될 수도 있는 충격요법을 쓰기도 해야합니다. 저희 아이도 그렇고, 발달센터를 가서 다른 아이들도 가끔 수업중에 큰소리가 나고, 아이가 선생님의 훈육에 놀라 울음을 터뜨리기도 합니다. 그래도 부모님들은 아무 표정변화도 없으십니다. 당연히 그래야 하는걸 아시거든요. 자폐아동을 교육하고 훈육하는건 여러분이 상상하시는 것 이상으로 어렵습니다. 그저 사랑으로만 감싸고 돌봐 주기에는 너무나 버거워요. 부모도 이렇게 생각하는데 아무리 특수교육을 전문으로 하시는 선생님이실지라도 무조건 사랑으로만 감싸고 교육을 해주시긴 어렵습니다. 녹취록의 내용처럼, 주호민씨가 아동학대라고 주장하는 내용을 저도 봤습니다. 그렇다고 진짜로 이 아이가 미워 죽겠어서, 꼴도 보기 싫어서 그런말씀을 하신건 아니라고 생각합니다. 물론 그런 말을 학생에게 한다거나 혼잣말이라고 하셨다는게 무조건 옳다고는 못하겠습니다. 다만 위에서도 말씀드렸듯 선생님들도 사람이시고, 교육이나 훈육을 위해서는 그런말을 하는게 무조건 잘못은 아니라는 말씀을 드리고 싶어요. 사랑이 없이는, 학생들에 대한 애정이 없이는 절대 할 수 없는게 특수교육교사님들이라고 생각합니다. 제 아내와 항상 하는 이야기가 있어요. 특교선생님들은 정말 사명감을 가지고 일하시는 분들이라고...부모도 버거워하는 이 아이들을 사명감 없이는 절대 할 수 없는 일이라고.. 제가 운이 정말 좋은걸 수도 있지만 모든 특수교육선생님들의 아이를 사랑하시는 진심을 너무 많이 봐와서 더 그렇게 확신할 수도 있긴 하겠습니다. 아...일단 글쓰기 버튼을 눌렀는데 어떻게 마무리 해야할지 모르겠습니다. 주호민씨와 선생님에 대한 제 의견을 이글에서는 최대한 넣지 않고 글을 쓸려고 노력했는데 봐주시는 분들이 불편하지 않으셨으면 좋겠네요. 저도 주호민씨를 원망하긴 했지만 글을 쓰면서 차분히 정리하다보니 결과가 어떻게 나왔든 앞으로 어떤 방향으로 흘러가든 양쪽다 마음고생 하신건 분명하니까요. 저도 사람이고 오늘일로, 여기저기 올라오는 글들과 댓글에 마음이 많이 다치고 감정적이 되어서 글에 감정이 들어갔을 수도 있다는 생각이 들어요. 마무리하자면 이 일로 많은분들이 우려하시는 특수교육을 받아야하는 제 아이와 비슷한 아이들에게 부정적인 영향이 없길..특수교육 선생님들이 부정적인 시선으로 바라보는 시선이 생기지 않길 바래봅니다. 내년에 당장 특교자로 입학해야 하는 저희 아이 걱정만해도 저도 많이 힘들어서요. 흐흐 그리고 저와같은 처지의 많은 부모님들...힘드시겠지만 같이 힘내셨으면 좋겠습니다. 많이 모자라고 부족한 아이들지만 저희 눈에는 세상에서 가장 사랑스럽고 소중한 보석같은 아이들이니까요. 쓸데없이 길고 두서없는 푸념글 읽어주셔서 감사합니다. 다들 좋은밤 되시길 바랍니다. * Cascade님에 의해서 티타임 게시판으로부터 게시물 복사되었습니다 (2024-02-12 20:48) * 관리사유 : 추천게시판으로 복사합니다.
