우리나라 K-9가 수출이 잘되는 겸에 해서 올려봅니다. 저도 처음에는 자주포가 뭔지 몰랐어요. 전차(탱크)랑 구별을 못할 정도였죠. 그러다가 나중에 알게되어서 정리차, 공유차원에서 올려드립니다.  자주포는 (自走砲) 즉 혼자서 움직이는 대포 입니다. 그럼 혼자서 움직이지 않는 대포도 있나요? 그렇죠. 그게 견인포 입니다. 끌려다니는 포죠.  원래 대포(화포가 더 맞는 말이지만)는 이게 원조고 자주포라는 것은 이 화포에 자동차 기능을 붙인 겁니다. 그런데 이 자주포가 뭐가 좋길래 이 난리인가? 를 알려면 아주 간략하게라도 이 화포의 역사를 좀 살펴보아야 합니다. "포병은 전장의 신이다." -이오시프 스탈린 === 화포의 역사 === ==== 공성 포 ==== 원래 화포는 화약의 힘으로 무거운 돌덩이나 쇳덩이를 날리는 물건입니다. 처음에는 그 파괴력이나 사정거리, 연사력 등이 형편없었기 때문에 사용이 애매했습니다. 그래서 성을 수비하는 측에서 당시 위협적인 공성무기인 공성탑이 접근해오면 그 탑을 파괴하는 용도로 쓰였습니다.  그러다가 점차 주철기술이 발달하면서 가볍고 튼튼하면서도 대량생산이 가능해지면서 점차 위력이 증가하게 되어 "공성무기"로 탈바꿈하게 됩니다. 그 이전까지 공성무기라면 위의 공성탑 말고는 "투석기"가 대표적이었거든요.  이 투석기가 자주 쓰였던 이유는 일정한 조준력이 담보되었기 때문입니다. 조준력만 확실하다면야 여러대를 만들어 놓고 적 성중 가장 약한 부분(예를 들면 성문)을 집중적으로 타격하면 결국에는 깨지게 되거든요. 그런데 이런 투석기도 험준한 요새위에 두꺼운 성벽으로 버티고 있는 성에는 큰 효과를 보기 어려웠습니다. 그리고 당대 성벽은 다 투석기 공격을 염두에 두고 비스듬한 경사를 두고 건설하기도 했거든요. 그런 방어적 성의 끝판왕이 바로 동로마제국의 수도 콘스탄티노플입니다. 그리고 이 콘스탄티노플을 공격하는 오스만제국은 아래와 같은 공성포를 사용합니다.  우르반이라는 이름의 이 대포는 한번 쏘고 나면 가열로 인해 재장전에만 3시간이 넘게 걸렸고, 하루에 7발이 한계였으며, 그 이상 쏘면 포신이 엿가락처럼 휘어져 영영 못 쓸 각오를 해야 했다고 합니다. 쏘게 되면 대략 300 kg의 돌덩이를 1.6 km 넘게 발사할 수 있었으나 이 발사체를 구하는 것도 굉장히 어려웠다고 해요. 아무튼 이렇게 되면서 "성벽"이라는 것이 의미가 없어집니다. 아무리 두껍게 지어도 대포가지고 와서 빵빵 쏘면 깨지거든요. 이 시점부터 전투는 회전의 성격을 띄게 됩니다. 그러면서 화약의 발달, 나폴레옹의 등장 등 여러가지 일을 겪으면서 각종 무기와 전술교리가 급격한 변동을 겪게 되는데요. 최종적으로 포병은 보병을 학살하는 지원병기의 역할을 하게 됩니다. ==== 야포의 시대 ==== 들판에 대고 쏜다고 야포(field artillery)입니다. 전통적으로 군대의 편제는 주력을 담당하는 보병과 이를 보조하는 기병의 조합이었습니다. 특히 기병은 보병에 상극인 존재로 정예기병이 있으면 아무리 많은 보병이 있어도 상성상 극복하는 것이 쉽지 않았죠. 그런데 이런 보병에게 총이 쥐어지면서 이야기가 달라집니다. 아무리 말을 타고 돌격을 하더라도 밀집된 상태에서 집중사격을 하는 보병을 공격하기가 어려웠거든요. 말이 놀라기도 하고, 아무리 갑옷을 입워도 총 앞에는 상대가 안됐거든요. 그래서 기병에게도 창을 버리고 총을 쥐어준 용기병(드라곤)이 나오기도 했지만, 당시만 해도 극악의 멍중률을 자랑하는 총기 기술로는 소수의 기병으로 보병을 공격하는 건 어려웠어요.  그래서 어떻게 하느냐? 이 대포를 가지고 보병집단에다가 쏘아버립니다. 당시 화승총부대는 부족한 조준력을 극복하기 위해 밀집대형을 유지할 수 밖에 없었습니다. 그리고 재장전과 격발까지 시간이 오래 걸렸기 때문에 기동력이 더 떨어졌습니다. 그렇기 때문에 그런 보병을 향해 집중포화를 가하면 보병부대가 견디기 어려웠습니다. 요런 야포를 가지고 빵빵 쏘아대기 시작한거죠. 그래서 전투를 벌이게 되면 전장의 선택이 굉장히 중요합니다. 이런 야포들은 말이나 노새가 끌고 와서 적절한 위치에 세팅을 해야 합니다. 이 세팅이 바로 "방열"이라고 합니다. 따라서 이 시기의 전쟁은 최대한 보병을 유기적으로 움직여서 적의 주력부대가 아군의 대포 사정거리 안으로 들어오도록 해야 합니다. 미리 전황을 예측해야 함은 물론 상황에 따라 기민하게 움직여야 하는 것이죠. 일단 대포의 화망에 걸려들면 보병이 할 수 있는 것이라곤 최대한 사정거리 밖으로 도망가는 것 밖에 없고, 그렇게 밀집대형이 흩어지면 그 다음에는 일방적인 학살밖에는 일어나지 않았습니다. 그러면 이런 무시무시한 대포에 대항하려면 어떻게 해야 하나? 여기서 다시금 기병의 존재가 부각됩니다. 압도적인 기동력이 있으나 보병의 화력에 밀려 활용도가 떨어진 기병은 다시 그 기동력을 극대화 한 형태로 진화를 하게 됩니다. 그래서 무거운 갑옷을 두른채 보병을 향해 창을 들고 돌격하는 중기병(기사)의 형태에서 최대한 무장을 가볍게 하여 기동력을 극대화한 경기병으로 변신합니다. (갑옷은 어차피 총맞으면 죽는건 똑같으니 없거나 최소화 합니다.) 이들의 임무는 적의 포병을 제거하는 겁니다. 어차피 적 포병도 방열을 끝내놓으면 다시 이동하기는 것이 쉽지 않습니다. 그래서 기병의 가장 큰 존재의의는 전투가 벌어지면 최단시간 내에 적의 포병을 무력화 시키는 것입니다. 아군 기병은 이런 적의 기병을 막아서 중간에 요격하고 그다음 적의 포병을 무력화시키는 것이 가장 큰 목적이죠. 그래서 이당시 전투는 기병간에 치열한 공방이후 적의 포병을 최단시간 내에 무력화시킨 뒤, 아군의 보병의 진격과 후퇴 방향전환을 잘 해서 적 보병을 아군 대포의 사정거리 내로 유인한 다음, 일제 발포를 통해 격멸하는 형태로 이뤄졌습니다. 그리고 이 미친듯한 컨트롤을 해낸 사람이 나폴레옹이었고 그는 유럽의 황제로 등극하게 되죠. * Cascade님에 의해서 티타임 게시판으로부터 게시물 복사되었습니다 (2022-02-08 12:25) * 관리사유 : 추천게시판으로 복사합니다.
