엊그제 동종업계에 일하셨던 이름모를 또 한분이 하늘로 가셨다. 불과 삼십대 중반의 건강한 분이 일 시작한지 6개월만에 몸무게가 20kg줄고.. 결국은 유명을 달리하신 것이다. 댓글들이 참 가관이다. 결국 돈벌이 욕심에 그리 되었다는 수많은 댓글이 내 마음을 아프게 한다. 주둥이들이 가볍다 못해 공중으로들 날아갈 사람들. 사람이 죽었는데... 택배 대리점도 여러분이 다니는 '회사'와 똑같다. 근데 빌어먹을 일이 물량 예측이 안된다. 어느날은 1만개가 들어오다가 어느날은 1만오천개가 들어온다. 여러분의 직장은 '다행히' 그정도는 아닐것이다. 대리점주도 땅 빌려서 월세 내면서 거기에다 가건물 세우고, 레일 놓고, 기사들 차 뒤로 접안하고 물건 받는 곳이 택배 대리점이다. 당연히 효율적으로 운영하려면 최대한 많은 차들이 다닥다닥 붙어있다. 차간 간격은 한사람이 지나가는 것이 불가능할 정도로 붙인다. 여러분의 책상이 1200 간격으로 다닥다닥 붙어있는 것과 같다. 그래도 여러분들 회사에는 통로는 있지 않을까? 하루 물량 1만2천개가 들어오는 대리점에 기사가 40명이면 한사람이 300개는 돌려야 물량 소화가 가능하지 않을까? 만약 누군가 200개를 돌리면 누군가는 400개를 돌려야 일이 끝나는 단순한 산수다. 근데 코로나로 30% 늘고 블랙프라이데이로 또 늘고, 십일절에 또 늘고, 전국민 쇼핑주간에 또 늘고.. 크리스마스에 또 늘고.. 2.5단계로 미친듯이 는다. 여러분 집에 택배가 안온다고 생각해보라. 재앙이 아닌가! 근데 물량 늘었다고 차 접안할 곳이 없는데 기사를 늘리나? 기사를 늘리겠다고 대리점 이사하나? 땅도 계약기간이 있고, 더 늘릴 여지도 없는데? 심지어 이 넓은 양평바닥에서 택배 대리점 할만한 땅 구하는데만도 지난 이사때 6개월을 돌아다녀 간신히 찾았는데...(그냥 논바닥에 이런 유통시설을 할 수 있는게 아니다) 나눠 주고 싶어도 기사가 없다. 아니 일하겠다고 하는 사람들으 많은데 차를 못댄다. 원청인 대기업은 슈퍼갑이라서 물량 소화가 안되면 대리점 하나쯤 가차없이 날릴 수 있는 존재다. 대리점 소장도 매일 매일이 얼음판이다. 도대체 뭘 믿고 수억씩 들여 땅 투자를 하고 시설투자를 하고 여건을 마련하나? 기사들 몇명만 단합해서 단체로 나가버리면 사고 터지고 대리점 박탈당하는게 손바닥 뒤집듯 쉬운데.. 워라벨을 고려하여 인간답게 살면서 택배를 하리라 공언하고 입문하여 하루 200여개 남짓 배송하고도 기존에 받던 월급만큼은 벌고 살았던 나도 불과 일년 반만에 평균물량인 300개를 훌쩍 넘겨 받고 있다. 욕심? 빌어먹을.. 워라벨이라고 말이다! 근데 어쩌나? 늘어나는 물량에 400개 하던 기사들이 500개 하고 죽어나는 상황을 대리점 소장인들 지켜보고만 있겠는가? 200개 하던놈이 100개 더 받아줘야지.. 낸들 언제까지 개기고 워라벨을 찾겠는가? 조금만 생각해보면 상식이다. 아침 5시 반에 일어나 출근 준비하고 반품 출력하고, 식은밥에 반찬 챙기고 나와 여섯시 반에 출근을 해서 7시면 '까대기'를 시작한다. 요즘은 물량이 늘어 그 뒤로 11시까지 쉼없이 미친듯이 물량을 분류하고 한시간도 채 안남은 시간에 40명의 기사가 달랑 컨테이너 두 칸 사무실에서 화장실 가고 전자레인지에 줄 서서 찬밥 데우고 사발면에 더운 물 부어 10분만에 때려넣고 아침을 마치고 남은 짐정리를 하면 또다시 까대기가 시작되고 이후로 두서너대를 더 깐다. 1시에 첫 배송을 시작해서 이후로 300개를 시간당 35개의 속도로 배송하고 여덟시간여가 지난 9시에 퇴근을 한다.(중간에 업체 집화시간에 맞춰 배송을 끊고 대리점으로 복귀하여 상차를 하고 다시 2차 배송을 나간다. 중간 이동시간만 40분) 시장구역에서 시간당 60타씩 미친듯이 뛰고 계단을 올라도 결국 이동시간 합치면 평균 40타를 넘기가 그리도 어렵다. 그래도 '몸생각해서 점심 식사는 꼭 챙기시라'고? 웃기는 소리 하네. 여섯시전에 사무실 물건 배송 못하면 전화통에 불이 난다. 그리고 나도 비록 아홉시가 넘어서라도 집에 들어가 '집 밥' 한끼 만큼은 먹고 싶다. 이 과정을 눈이 오나 비가 오나 영상 35도가 넘으나 영하 15도가 넘어도 단 하루도 예외 없이 '빨간날'이 아닌 한 책임져야하는 일이 택배다. 집에 돌아와 씻고 9시 40분에 저녁을 먹고는 피곤에 절어 아이들과 눈 맞추기도 어렵다. 해야할 일들은 이내 까먹고 잠에 든다. 다섯시간 반이 지나면 다시 일어나 출근해야하니까. 나도 택배 초기에 18키로가 빠졌다(지금은 15키로 감량상태 유지중이다) 내 동료들도 마찬가지다. 15키로는 기본, 심하면 20키로 넘게 감량된다. 400개-500개, 소위 '연봉 일억'을 버는 '만돌이'들은 12시가 기본 귀가 시간이다. 하루 네시간 자며 6일을 일하고 주말에는 하루종일 잠만 자는게 그들의 일상이다. 그들 역시 일년이면 죽음의 공포를 느끼고 이내 300개 수준으로 일을 줄인다. 마침 일을 받아줄 기사가 '있다면'말이다. 일을 받아줄 기사가 없어서 때를 놓치거나 빚이 많아서 줄일 수 있는 처지가 안된다면.. 그들은 그렇게 영원히 잠들어 다시 일어나지 못하는 것이다. 그렇다. 내가 선택한 일이니 징징대는건 아닐 것이다. 요즘같은 시절에 그래도 꾸준히 돈을 벌고 있으니 어디다 힘들다고 말하는 것은 배부른 소리다. 심지어 3단계가 되어도, 아니 '락다운' 사태가 일어나도 국가가 택배 물류 만큼은 멈추지 못할 것을 알기에 코로나 세상에 이토록 안정적인 직업이 또 없다. 그러나 '욕심에 눈이 멀어 지가 뒤진것'이라는 세간의 헛소리에는 짜증과 욕설을 넘어 슬픔마저 배어나온다. 그저 '욕심'만으로 사람이 죽을만큼 죽음이 쉬운줄 아는가? 당신들은 상사가 일 조금 더 시킨다고 뒤에서 열라 씹어대는게 일상 아닌가? 그 일이 그냥 나눠지는가? 내가 월급 줄인다고 해서 당장 신입 사원 뽑아주냔 말이다. 임금피크제, 일 나누기 얘기만 나와도 거품을 입에 물 것들이.. 모두가 각자의 삶의 전선에서 목숨을 걸고 생업을 이어간다. 타이틀만 다를 뿐 대부분의 노동자는 따지고 보면 비슷한 처지가 아니던가? 부디 잘 알지도 못하는 놈의 일 주뎅이 함부로 놀리고 손가락 싸지르지 말자. 예의가 아니다. 위하는 척 하지도 마라 값싼 동정 받을만큼 그렇게 불쌍하게 살지도 않는다. 자영업자 타이틀 가지고 일하는 만큼 벌고, 버는 만큼 칼같이 세금 내고, 하루도 어김없이 성실하게 살아갈 뿐이다. ————— 아는 형님이 작년부터 택배 배달기사를 시작하셨는데 페이스북을 통해서 택배를 하면서 느끼는 소회들을 계속 공유해주시고 계십니다. 오늘 글은 홍차넷 분들과 같이 보고 싶어서 퍼왔습니다. * Cascade님에 의해서 티타임 게시판으로부터 게시물 복사되었습니다 (2021-01-03 15:02) * 관리사유 : 추천게시판으로 복사합니다.
